Family,
friends, and fans of Big Pun (birthname, Christopher Rios)
will gather together in the South Bronx on February 6, 2001
to commemorate the 1st anniversary of his untimely passing
last year on February 7, 2001.
Big Pun will be
immortalized yet again by Bronx-based hip-hop graffiti artist,
The TATS CRU, who painted the original mural at 163rd &
Westchester Avenue. Last years mural will be whitewashed and
a new mural will be painted in it’s place. Among the artist
on hand, for the mural painting will be the Terror Squad family
including Fat Joe and Cuban Linx, Tony Sunshine, and many
more. Additional artists attending will be announced
shortly.
In celebration
of Pun’s musical legacy, Loud Records will release Endangered
Species, featuring classics from Big Pun’s previous two albums,
a collection of new songs, collaborations, and unreleased
music. The album packaging also will includes liner notes
written by Fat Joe and photos from Big Pun’s private collection.
Endangered Species is slated to hit the streets on April 3,
2001.
The Event starts
at 11:00am until the mural is finished. It will take place
at 163rd & Westchester in the South Bronx.
