Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s camp has vehemently refuted an eBay auction that claimed to have footage of the late rapper’s final concert before his death.
ODB’s manager Jared Weisfeld said the eBay listing, which advertised a DVD with alleged footage of ODB, born Russell Jones, performing on stage under the influence of drugs, is completely fabricated.
”To my knowledge, no tape has been sold. They are just some stupid kids,” Weisfeld told AllHipHop.com. “They are trying to tarnish a hip hop legend with bogus allegations.”
The listing also claimed that MTV offered $100,000 for exclusive rights to the DVD. “There are no drugs on tape and there is no MTV deal. MTV doesn’t even do the eBay thing,” Weisfeld said, adding that ODB stipulated through written agreements that no taping of concerts is ever allowed.
“He has a mother and he has kids,” Weisfeld said. “Let him rest in peace.”
OBD collapsed and died in a Manhattan recording studio on November 13.
A medical examiner ruled earlier this week that ODB, a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan, died from a lethal combination of cocaine and the prescription painkiller Tramadol, which caused the rapper to have a heart attack.
The rapper has a mixtape and an album slated for release in 2005.
