Rap star Nelly has partnered with NBA star Larry Hughes and the pair have purchased over 60 acres of farmland in northwest St. Louis County, to open a multi-million dollar athletic facility.
Nelly’s company Nelly Inc. is in talks with the city of St. Louis to open the massive complex in the Maryland Heights area, which is currently being redeveloped.
According to the St. Louis Business Journal, Nelly Inc.’s development team recently presented a plan for the facility to local officials.
The company has not requesting zoning variances for the stretch of farmland, but the plan to build the facility is in motion, as local officials recently went to Philadelphia, to inspect a facility similar to the one Nelly Inc. plans to build.
Hughes is a St. Louis native who currently plays guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In related news, Nelly is preparing to release Brass Knuckles, his first album in over three years.
Brass Knuckles was slated to hit stores yesterday, but the release date has been pushed back to an unknown date.
The album features a number of superstar artists, including Akon, Babyface, Chuck D., Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg and others.
