THE ROOTS DEVELOPING TWO CHILDREN’S SERIES READ MORE!

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop stars The Roots are developing two children’s series for streaming service Amazon.

Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter and Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson will executive produce the projects under their Passyunk Productions banner.

The first series, an animated show titled “South Street Sounds,” will center on three friends growing up in a musical neighborhood. The friends form a band named South Street Together. The series will be written by Becky Friedman and feature music by The Roots.

The other series will be a live action show, but details about the project have not been released.

“As we venture into the world that is film and television production, we couldn’t think of a better partner than Amazon to help us develop these first two children’s projects,” Thompson says.

“Our love for music started as young kids, and we hope to inspire a generation of future artists, musicians and music fans through the stories we tell and the music they hear on these shows,” Trotter added.
