A Texas State Trooper was disciplined and ordered to take counseling after posing for a picture with Snoop Dogg.
Dallas PD asserted that Trooper Billy Spears was not formally disciplined for taking a picture with the rapper, but they did take actions consistent with punishment.
DPS spokesman Tom Vinger said, “DPS does not typically discuss or release specifics of personnel issues unless they result in disciplinary action as outlined in Government Code 411.00755 and 411.0072. Supervisors counsel and coach employees on a regular basis, and these efforts do not constitute formal discipline by the department.”
Spears took a picture with snoop during SXSW in Austin, TX a few weeks ago. Spears said that Snoop asked for the picture. He maintains he vaguely knew who Snoop was, but didn’t know about his criminal record.
DPS officials that saw the picture on Instagram say that these alleged deficiencies call for counseling for posing with a known criminal.
Snoop has several drug-related convictions.
Because he is not being formally disciplined, Spears has not way to fight the allegations that will appear on his permanent professional record.
Dallas PD didn’t have any comment at the time of this writing.
