(AllHipHop News) Rapper Tupac Shakur was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Friday, making history in the process.
Tupac was officially added as a member of the 2017 class tonight (April 7), during a ceremony in New York City.
Despite some controversy, the honor makes Pac the first solo rap artist in the history of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame receive the recognition.
The late rapper was honored with a tribute from Snoop Dogg, T.I., YG, Treach and Alicia Keys, who hit the stage to perform some of Tupac’s best known songs.
Other artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn included Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Journey, Yes, ELO and Nile Rodgers of Chic, who was inducted by Pharrell.
The induction ceremony is slated to air on HBO on April 29th.
