(AllHipHop News) R&B legend Betty Wright has announced a new collaborative album with The Roots, titled Betty Wright: The Movie.
The 14-track album features the soul music icon teaming with Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots, who co-produced all 14 songs on the release, along with Angelo Morris.

“I am more griot than singer. You can usually see what I say,” Betty Wright said of her new album. “I decided that each song would be a vision that you could take to the screen…14 songs equal 14 movies.”

She co-produced Joss Stone’s first two albums, worked with Sean “Diddy” Combs on “Making the Band,” produced tunes for George Jones and Angie Stone, in addition to recording with Lil Wayne for his album Tha Carter III.
In addition to Lil Wayne and Snoop, Betty Wright: The Movie features guests like Lenny Williams of Tower of Power, Joss Stone and others.
Betty Wright released her first single at the age of 13, but it was her tune “Clean Up Woman” that first etched her name into music history.
“Clean Up Woman,” along with Wright’s songs “Tonight’s the Night” and “Girls Can’t Do What The Guys Do,” are among the the recordings that have been sampled by various artists, including Willie D., Game, Mary J. Blige, DJ Quik and numerous others.
