(AllHipHop News) When Waka Flocka publicly “banned” Lil Xan from Hip Hop for saying Tupac Shakur had little clout and boring music, fellow Atlanta resident T.I. was quick to co-sign Waka’s edict directed at the 21-year-old also known as Diego. Recently, Tip further discussed why he takes issue with rap newcomers disrespecting icons.
“Right now, you have people discussing other people who haven’t gone through these necessary steps that they’ve gone through, and you are critiquing their work when you ain’t really walk their path,” T.I. told MTV. “So this guy Lil Xan, he’s just never really taken the time out to, he’s not aware of how much work actually went into making it where Pac made it, where B.I.G. made it.”
Lil Xan has spent the last few weeks doing an about-face on his Tupac statements. He called the late California emcee a “legend,” wore a 2Pac t-shirt, and played the classic hit “California Love” at one of his shows.
As for T.I., the Hustle Gang leader is currently promoting the upcoming Netflix docuseries Rapture. The program highlights Tip’s career as well as the life stories of several other Hip Hop stars, including Nas, Dave East, Rapsody, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
