Chicago-based rap star Twista is getting a little help from his Speedknot Mobstaz crew to launch his new Get Money Gang (GMG) record label.
The imprint’s first release will be Mobstability II: Nation Bizness, the follow-up to the Speedknot Mobstaz’ 1998 RIAA certified gold debut Mobstability.
The trio, comprised of Liffy Stokes, Mayz and Skooda, is among a lot of artists that GMG will work with via other labels.
For Twista, the label represents a chance for music fans to “hear real music coming from the heart of the Chi.”
“I am dedicated to making this GMG label a movement first in Chicago, then nationwide,” Twista said. “If you got real talent and about getting money, then you got a spot at my label.”
To coincide with the release of Mobstability II, the Speedknot Mobstaz will perform in more than 20 cities across the US as part of the Rock the Vote tour.
Additionally, the group will introduce the video for its new single “Money To Blow” next week on BET’s Rap City.
With more than 700,000 copies of the first Mobstability album sold and a half a million copies sold from three compilations, the timing couldn’t be better to unleash their newest project for fans, according to Stokes.
“No lie, this album is on some real street s**t, none of that ringtone s**t,” the rapper said.
“This music we’re putting out is for the everyday hustla on the grind. It’s been a long time coming for me and the crew, now that everything is in place we can finally give the fans what they want.”
Speedknot Mobstaz’ Mobstability II: Nation Bizness is slated to hit stores on May 27.
