“Who wouldn’t want to see another Belly kind of movie? It wasn’t ‘critically acclaimed,’ but for us it was great,” said Wale. “I just feel like there’s a void that could be filled in that arena. I don’t necessarily know if it’s going to be me, but I sure as hell want to help usher in a youth movement in Black Hollywood. We can’t keep putting cornrows on Shemar Moore.”
Wale expressed his interest in appearing in the hit African-American led shows Power and Empire. He also discussed his desire to support up-and-coming actors and filmmakers.
“Where’s the new young Mekhi Phifer? Where’s the new young Denzel [Washington]? Where’s the new young Halle [Berry]?” asked Wale. “It’s gonna take the right clique, the right people. And I want to be able to be part of that.”
