Robert Bates Is Charged With Manslaughter For Eric Harris’ Death

The Tulsa, OK reserve deputy who shot and killed Eric Harris is being charged with second degree manslaughter involving culpable negligence now that footage of the incident has surfaced, CNN reports. In the video, Robert Bates said he was going to use his taser and accidentally pulled out his gun and fired a shot, which killed Harris.

Bates’ lawyer, Scott Wood, said this incident should be considered an “excusable homicide.”

“We believe the video itself proves that it was an accident of misfortune that occurred while Deputy Bates was fulfilling his duties as a reserve deputy,” Wood said. “He is not guilty of second-degree manslaughter.”

Harris’ family wants Bates to questioned and are calling for an independent investigation. They reportedly want to know why Bates, who also owns an insurance company, was present during the sting operation that was going to result in Harris’ arrest.

“It’s absolutely mind boggling that you have a wealthy businessman who’s been essentially deputized to go play like he’s some outlaw, like he’s just cleaning up the streets,” said Daniel Smolen, the Harris family’s attorney.

Bates worked as an officer in the 1960s and had been a volunteer deputy since 2008 after completing 300 hours of training and 1,100 hours of community policing experience.

If convicted, Bates can serve up to four years in prison.

Cle ‘Bone’ Sloan Says He Does Not Want To Snitch On Suge Knight

The other man that was injured in Suge Knight’s fatal hit-and-run refused to identify him as the man who ran him over, ABC reports.

“I will not be used to send Suge Knight to prison,” Cle “Bone” Sloan said at a preliminary hearing Monday (Apr.13).

Sloan, who is advising the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, said he only took the stand because he was subpoenaed. He claims that he does not want to be a “snitch.”

“Every day, I tried to forget it,” he said. “I just know, I screwed up, and Terry’s dead.”

Sloan suffered fractured ankles, a shoulder injury, a cut on his head and two torn ligaments in his knees in the hit-and-run that left Terry Carter dead.

The judge is trying to determine whether there is enough evidence to take Knight to trial for murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run charges. The former CEO is facing life in prison and is being held on $25 million bail.

Tamika Fuller Has To Turn To GoFundMe After Losing Custody Trial To Ludacris

Photo via Tamika’s Instagram

Has it gotten that bad? Ludacris’ baby mama, Tamika Fuller, is currently in the process of filing an appeal after being denied a new custody trial for her daughter Cai Bridges. It seems that Fuller is low on funds as she has also launched a GoFundMe page to “Bring [her daughter] Tink Home” and to fund a nonprofit for low income mothers. According to Fuller, even though she is now working full time she still doesn’t make enough money to fight Luda and get her child back.

According to MadameNoire:

“Sadly, on April 9th the judge denied my motion for a new trial. Every day that passes when I don’t have my daughter feels like eternity. After being discouraged with the court system, I decided to share a personal account of my situation on Madame Noire, it was never meant as a media blitz but rather my side of the story in protest of my daughter being taken away when I felt powerless against her father’s machine.

My side had not been shared up until this point and rumors that I was a bad mother or receiving 7k/month child support or asking for 15k were distressing me, none of which are factual. I’m back to working full time, but even that isn’t enough to cover the many expenses that come with this fight.

I was hesitant to set up a Gofundme page but since my story ran I’ve received overwhelmingly supportive feedback from women and mothers across the country who have offered assistance and want to help with launching my organization. I plan to use donation money to start setting up my non-profit “No Mother Left Behind” with a mission to educate, enrich, enlighten and empower low income mothers and also to help bring my own daughter back. I’ve read and appreciate all the messages, prayers and similar stories that I’ve received. You have all made me feel less alone. We are all in this together. Thank you.”

Did Mariah Carey Take Photoshop Too Far?

So, it’s clear Mariah Carey has had a lot of No. 1 songs, and the lambs (what she calls her fans) certainly are excited to see their favorite release a new greatest hits album, ‘#1 To Infinity’, coming out on May 18. The only issue is her overly Photoshopped album cover. Almost all celebrities use Photoshop, and MiMi may be the Queen of it, but many felt she went too far this time as Mariah looks nothing like the album cover today. Many thought it was a throwback picture from her ’90s and early 2000s days. Fans on Twitter and Instagram went in on Mariah. Did she take it too far this time?

Yung Chris was on TMZ Live on Monday when he described how the bartender flirted even more with every drink she brought, and every $100 tip he gave her. “It’s the night before (my wedding) so whatever happens now they ain’t gonna hold it against me.”

“I feel the need to take responsibility for my choices in needing to be more aware of all the people I associate with and allow onto my property,” said Nelly. “While my instinct of course, is to be accessible to my friends, fans and acquaintances, the last thing I would want to do is compromise the respect and admiration of my friends, family and fans.”

According to reports, up to 20 other people had access to Nelly’s tour bus. That number apparently included individuals Nelly was not familiar with.

Some of the people that Nelly does include in his inner circle are returning to BET next month. Season two of the reality series Nellyville begins May 5. The show documents Nelly and his family.
