As an integral member of the Screwed Up Click, Lil Keke, continues to use his rites-of-passage, both wrong and right, to power his pen. Since 1993, Don Ke’s competitive spirit has been energized by his supporters and by himself. Money Don’t Sleep, his latest contribution to the Hip-Hop canon reflects a penetrating insight. It drops on May 27.
Shadows of imitation continue to follow the Southern lifestyle that, Lil KeKe, helped to illuminate. While the humble MC is flattered by the overall impact, he emphatically shares his views on the Screwed Up Click and its legacy:
From the notable cliques that have originated in Houston, like Killa Klan, S.P.C., Hog Pen Click, A**holes By Nature, and Boss Hog Outlawz, as an original member of the Screwed Up Click, what about it most distinguishes itself from the others; what are your thoughts on S.U.C.’s enduring legacy?

(AllHipHop News) The much talked about confrontation between T.I. and Floyd Mayweather is a news story that crosses over between sports and Hip Hop media. On the sports side, First Take‘s Stephen A. Smith jumped into the conversation during the ESPN 2 show.

Smith offers support for both Tip and Mayweather, but also described the situation as a “crab in basket mentality” for black men and added it “looks like hooliganism.” Smith left some of his most critical comments for T.I.’s wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle who suggested Tip was jealous.
“I’m trying to figure out why would the wife go on Twitter and dime out her husband like that? That doesn’t make sense to me,” said Smith. “Even if it were true that is your husband, and he is supposed to take precedent over everybody else. Even if he’s wrong. That’s something you tell in private. You don’t tell the world that he’s wrong.”

Singer August Alsina has taken R&B to new heights and has broken boundaries as he became the first R&B singer to make XXL Magazine’s Freshman Class Cover. August Alsina had what it takes to change the game or the rules rather and made XXL listen up. Alsina says that he hopes that him making the cover will put a stop to people marginalizing and putting people in a box “because you can’t do that.” Alsina was able to share his testimonies in the spread as well as record an original freestyle that he sung. Alsina stated that for him, hip-hop is the individual, the story, the background, the culture, where one comes from, and what’s in his heart. He stated that although he doesn’t rap he still has a story and talent, “and talent prevails over all.”
“I had to go chop it up with the staff at XXL,” said the determined singer. “I remember that meeting and I clicked out on them because I feel like, ‘Let me get the same opportunity as the next man.’ I spoke my piece and they felt my heart.”

(AllHipHop News) Rap Genius co-founder Mahbod Moghadam is no longer working with the website after making comments related to the recent deadly killing spree in California.
Six people were killed during the massacre conducted by Elliot Rodger. Before implementing his self-described “Day of Retribution” and taking his own life, Rodger wrote a 141-page manifesto which Rap Genius posted on the site.
[ALSO READ: Rap Genius Releases New iPhone App]
Moghadam was credited as adding annotations to the post that called the writings “artful” and “beautifully written.” He also suggested that Rodger’s sister is “smokin’ hot.” Moghadam later apologized for the comments, but fellow co-founder Tom Lehman posted a statement on the site denouncing Moghadam’s annotations and announcing he is no longer with the company.
Lehman wrote in part:
Mahbod Moghadam, one of my co-founders, annotated the piece with annotations that not only didn’t attempt to enhance anyone’s understanding of the text, but went beyond that into gleeful insensitivity and misogyny. All of which is contrary to everything we’re trying to accomplish at Rap Genius.
Were Mahbod’s annotations posted by a new Rap Genius user, it would be up to our community leaders, who set the tone of the site and our approach to annotation, to delete them and explain to the new user why they were unacceptable.
Were Mahbod’s annotations posted by a Rap Genius moderator, that person would cease to be an effective community leader and would have to step down.
And Mahbod, our original community leader, is no exception. In light of this, Mahbod has resigned – both in his capacity as an employee of the company, and as a member of our board of directors, effective immediately.
Mahbod is my friend. He’s a brilliant, creative, complicated person with a ton of love in his heart. Without Mahbod Rap Genius would not exist, and I am grateful for all he has done to help Rap Genius succeed. But I cannot let him compromise the Rap Genius mission – a mission that remains almost as delicate and inchoate as it was when we three founders decided to devote our lives to it almost 5 years ago.
Solange is rumored to be doing the dastardly deed of an era. She’s about to write a tell-all book about Jay Z and Beyonce. WTF? This is coming on the heels of her attack on Jigga Man at the MET after party. Nobody knows much more about this, but the questions are all over the place. People are wondering if she will add fuel to the fire or will it quell it. I will say this, In Touch magazine is saying that Solange might be coming for their NECK.
Solange is growing increasingly fed up with playing second fiddle to Beyonce, 32, and sources believe she’s ready to spill the beans on everything from their estranged father to how Beyonce turns a blind eye to Jay Z’s womanizing. “Solange was always in the background while Beyonce was the golden child,” says a family friend. “She’s sick of being held down and she’s ready to fight back.”
They are also reporting that Solange would talk about their dad Matthew Knowles a topic that really doesn’t come up in the current era. This could be very messed up, if it goes left.

(AllHipHop News) Prior to AllHipHop’s EXCLUSIVE interview with Calvin Klein Bacote, he spoke to hundreds of inmates at Rikers Island. In the second part of our interview with Bacote, he imparts his view on why the often glamorized life of crime does not pay.

Two of the Best Picture nominees from the 2014 Academy Awards were based on criminal enterprises (American Hustle, Wolf of Wall Street) and Hip Hop itself has celebrated former criminals. Bacote has served numerous years in prison and explains how you could not pay him to do crime:
Nine times out of 10 you get caught. You have to pay for your lawyer. You have to do substantial amount of time. Inside, if you man enough, you still going to be able to save some of the money you have that’s going to go to your family. Then on top of that, you going to do multiple years in jail. So, crime is not….you can’t pay me to do crime right now. I can go out there right now and get a couple hundred thousands or something like that. But, with my luck, crime don’t pay.
Calvin Klein Bacote released his first book Neighborhoods Under Siege: Memoirs of a Brooklyn Don this past February. The book is currently available online and in bookstores.

Where is Dr. Phil when you need him! Somebody get Steve Harvey on the phone! Its looking like T.I. and Tiny are done and the whole thing completely unraveled over the weekend. You already know, but damn. This hurts a bit, because they were like the hood version of Jay and B. They were closer to the people and still in love. But. the Floyd / Tip fight really revealed a lot.
Here is what The Jasmine Brand pulled from the comments on Tiny’s social media.
And then Tip got on social media to dispel the notion that Floyd jacked him up. He also ends the video with that laugh that really isn’t a laugh. This won’t end well.

OH NO!!!!

This can’t be life! There is a big reason that the deal with Apple and Beats didn’t go through. The Apple Team freaked out when the Instagram video came of Dr. Dre and Tyrese bragging about the $3.2 billion business acquisition. Now, when I first reported on this a few weeks ago, I was chastised by unnamed forces not affiliated with AllHipHop so, I’m just going to say “I told y’all so.” But, since we’re closer to Hip-Hop and Black people more than the LA Times, we get a call. But, the LA Times is now reporting the same thing I said already. Basically, Apple is/was angered by the leak. As you should know, Apple is always top secret with their business. The deal still isn’t done. Nobody quite knows if it will, but I think it will. Once they get their emotions out of it, I think they will realize they want Beats in their stable.
Hopefully, Dr. Dre still gets that big check. If not, he’ll still be worth about $500 million. Hey…

(AllHipHop News) Instead of resorting to social media, Floyd Wayweather Jr. has decided to clear the record on what transpired between him and T.I. last night (May 24th) in Las Vegas in a recent interview.
Mayweather Jr explained in an interview with Necole Bitchie earlier this morning (May 25th) that he never had sexual or intimate relations with T.I.’s wife, Tamkea “Tiny” Harris and has known her before she became involved with T.I. According to Mayweather, T.I. approached him at a jewelry store in New York City this month about a conspiratorial plot to “play us against each other””:
[T.I] came to me when I was in New York. He stepped to me when I was at the jewelery store like, “Yo, let’s go outside and talk.” We went outside to talk, but he talked about, basically, “These girls tryna play us against each other.” I said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re talking about your wife?” I never put up a picture of her on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. I was basically like, “Listen. I’m letting you know I ain’t got…me and your wife don’t have nothing…if you think so.
This Memorial Day Weekend, Mayweather Jr held a birthday party for his 14 year old daughter Ilyanna at MGM Grand Ballrooms. Following the birthday bash, Mayweather claims T.I. approached him again and this time, Mayweather was not as cordial:
I throw my daughter [Iyanna] a big [14th] birthday bash today. I’m eating at Fatburger and next thing you know, he walk in talking about we need to talk again. And then I told him, “You need to get the f-ck outta my face. That’s what you better do.” And then he said, “I ain’t talking to all these people so you ain’t gotta talk loud.” I said, “Listen, don’t come to my face with no disrespectful sh-t. Like I told you before, you must’ve forgot what I did for a living.” He said, “You do in the ring, I do it in the streets.” I said, “My man, I do it everywhere. You can find out if you want to.” Just like that.
Mayweather later claims that T.I. swung on him and the boxer is only interested in apologizing to Tiny.
