In the first part of AllHipHop’s EXCLUSIVE interview with Bacote, he explains Jay Z’s reaction when the two of them were arrested.

The pair were charged with attempted murder, attempted murder to maim, battery assault, and possession of a deadly weapon and according to Klein, Jay Z took the arrest well and changed his life from it:

Our reaction were the same: we got caught. But, he channeled that situation into something positive and productive. Only thing I’m doing now at this point is..it took me a long time for me to get it, but now I got it. So, I’m kind of following the footsteps of those same words and my sense of creating myself and just doing the right things this time around.

According to Bacote, before taking the wrap for the crime, him and Jay Z faced 40 years in prison. Bacote was released after four years and released his first book Neighborhoods Under Siege: Memoirs of a Brooklyn Don this past February.

MARIAH CAREY “METEORITE” Q-TIP VERSION

NEW MUSIC: MARIAH CAREY "METEORITE" Q-TIP VERSION

This has lead some to think that there is some beef between the two. Specifically, people have started to say that JD didn’t use Q-Tip’s version. But, I have news for ya! There is no beef. There are indeed two versions of the song and both of them are Q-Tip’s. So, when the album Me. I Am Mariah drops on Tuesday, the version on the album was also produced and co-written by Q-Tip.

D'Angelo Delivers Lecture at "A Conversation With D'Angelo"

Neo-soul, R&B, and funk icon D’Angelo recently gave a lengthy interview to documentarian Nelson George as a part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival in New York at the Brooklyn Museum. George also featured D’Angelo in his documentary “Finding The Funk” earlier this year. D’Angelo is known as a musical genius and one of the best artists and musicians of our time, especially for R&B and soul. D’Angelo is also an amazing instrumentalist on the piano and guitar. His voice is an instrument itself as his range spans 5 octaves and his vocals and music showcase melodious chords and runs. Brown Sugar and Voodoo were pivotal albums in the neo-soul movement. There were plenty of jewels in this interview such as how D’Angelo’s first experience at the Apollo nearly ended in disaster. D’Angelo shared that he likes going “deep into the onion” when recording, and Mtume gave him a much needed confidence boost at a critical moment. Viewers also learn that D’Angelo met Quest Love on a show where Goodie Mob, The Fugees, and The Roots were playing. In the lecture spanning nearly 90 minutes, the torchbearer of R&B soul opened up in a way that fans have rarely seen him do before. Check out the full lecture video below.

Quentin Tarantino Turning "Django Unchained" Into A TV Series

(AllHipHop News) Quentin Tarantino has dangled the prospect of his next project since 2012’s Django Unchained for over a year. During a recent press conference at the Cannes film festival, Tarantino divulged plans to turn the 2012 film into a miniseries for television.

According to Tarantino, he will use 90 minutes of unreleased Django Unchained footage for a planned miniseries consisting of four hour-long chapters. While Tarantino did not reveal how he will release the TV he does allude to the Netflix-style of binge watching where they release all the episodes of a TV series at once:

It would be a mini-series and people love those. You show people a four-hour movie and they roll their eyes. Show people a four-part mini-series and they’ll sit and watch it all in one sitting.

Mike Meyers Talks Kanye West + Admits Black People Were Treated Differently During Hurricane Katrina

(AllHipHop News) On August 29th, 2005, southeast Louisiana was hit with a Category 5 hurricane, Louisiana particularly experiencing over 80% of the reported 1,836 deaths from Hurricane Katrina. In a recent interview with GQ, Mike Meyers discussed his views on the racial differences in the treatment of people during Hurricane Katrina and speaks on Kanye West’s infamous “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people” statement.

According to Meyers, West informed him prior to his infamous remarks about former President Bush that “he was going to take some liberties” with his speech. Before saying that he was “super proud to have been next to him”, Meyers admitted that while West’s comments may have been slightly exaggerrated, they conveyed an uncomfortable truth about the treatment of the people of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina:

I assume that George Bush does care about black people—I mean I don’t know him, I’m going to make that assumption—but I can definitively say that it appeared to me watching television that had that been white people, the government would have been there faster. And so to me that’s really the point—the look on my face is, to me, almost insulting to the true essence of what went down in New Orleans.
