Mona Scott-Young Describes Benzino Shooting As Blessing From "Reality Gods"

(AllHipHop News) Mona Scott-Young has been the executive producer of Love & Hip Hop for four years, but the Mimi Faust and Rikko sextape from last month may have been the biggest news the show has ever garnered. In a recent interview, Mona Scott-Young speaks on how she questioned the legitimacy of the sex tape and how Benzino’s recent shooting was a blessing from the “reality gods”.

This past March, Benzino was allegedly shot by his nephew en route to a funeral service for his mother. Rumors spread that Benzino staged the shooting to increase news interest, a rumor that  Young denies. However, the woman who makes a living off of reality show ratings, stated that the timing of the shooting was a good sign:

The timing and the way that it happened, you have another moment that you go, you can’t make this stuff up. It’s like the reality gods have once again chosen this show to smile upon.

Young later stated that “I’m producing a show that you hope gets ratings and you hope people respond to. Good or bad.”

Young attests that neither herself or VH1 has a financial investment in the sale of Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta sex tape, distributed through Vivid Entertainment. However, the ringleader of the reality chaos did state that she questioned Mimi when the star first informed her that Vivid Entertainment got a hold of the sextape:

When she called and said, ‘The head of one of the biggest p### companies got a copy of it,’ did I have my own questions? Of course. Like, really? How did he know it was you? How did he get your phone number?

Rihanna Reportedly Leaves Def Jam To Sign With Jay Z's Roc Nation

(AllHipHop News) If a multi-platinum artist leaves the most storied Hip Hop label of all time and no press release is sent, did it really happen? According to reports, Rihanna has left Island Def Jam and has signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation.

Rihanna has always been managed by Jay Z’s Roc Nation label but appears to now be a signed artist. On Def Jam’s official site, Rihanna is not listed in the ARTIST section with such current artists as Kanye West, Frank Ocean and former rival Teyana Taylor. Rihanna enlisted Jay Z’s Roc Nation as help with her management in 2010, however the site now has Rihanna as a LABEL artist along with J. Cole, Jay Electroinca and others:

No one from Rihanna’s camp has responded as of now.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Floyd Mayweather Disses 50 Cent And Nelly

I never thought 50 and Nelly would share a common foe, but it has happened. It seems that Floyd Mayweather has tossed a black cloud over 50 Cent and Nelly, whom he has issues with. Just some backdrop, Floyd’s ex-girlfriend Shantel now seems to be dating Nelly and 50 Cent recently commented jokingly on Floyd’s situation with her. And then at the pre-fight madness, Money May was asked some questions and he send some darts and some nameless rappers. But, you know who he’s talking about.

“We gonna shoot rapper’s that’s relevant. A lot of them trying to stay relevant using my name,” Floyd said with daggers in his voice. Watch the video for the rest of it.

“They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!” -illseed.

Instagram Allegedly Shut Down Rihanna's Account Over Nude Photo

(AllHipHop News) Rihanna may have shown one nipple too many. Today (May 5th), Rihanna’s Instagram account has been deleted for unspecified reasons.

Last week, reports surfaced that reps at Instagram informed Rihanna if she did not refrain from posting nude photographs her Instagram account would be permanently deleted. Earlier today, her Instagram account was deactivated:

The alleged warning from Instagram surfaced after Rihanna shared her cover photo in French magazine Lui. In the photo, Rihanna’s bare nipples are exposed. Instagram’s community guidelines prohibits such behavior:

If you wouldn’t show the photo or video you are thinking about uploading to a child, or your boss, or your parents, you probably shouldn’t share it on Instagram.

Rihanna has not responded to the deactivation of her Instagram account, however her Twitter avatar is an uncensored painting of the same Lui magazine cover.

Jay Z & Drake Show Respect To Each Other's Basketball Team

(AllHipHop News) The playoff series between the Toronto Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets was seen by many as a proxy battle between T-Dot’s Drake and BK’s Jay Z.

Drizzy and Jigga had been throwing shots at each other in recent weeks. Jay called the Young Money rapper “Mrs. Drizzy” on his “We Made It” verse, and Drake made a reference to the Roc Nation boss eating fondue at a previous basketball game.

With the Nets topping the Raptors in game seven, it seems the war of words between Jay and Drake has calmed down a bit. Both rappers showed respect to the other’s team on social media.

Jay made an extremely rare appearance on Twitter to congratulate Toronto.

Drake returned the respect on Instagram with the caption, “Incredible year! Incredible team! Congrats to Brooklyn for advancing. #416#NorthernUprising.”

While the “Light Up” and “Pound Cake” collaborators seemed to take the high road after the Nets moved on to the second round, Drake’s longtime producing partner and fellow Toronto native Boi-1da was not feeling his hometown being bounced from the postseason or Jay’s tweet shout out.

Data Scientist Calculates Which Emcees Have The Largest Vocabulary In Hip Hop

(AllHipHop News) Using Shakespeare’s reputation for using thousands of words in his work, designer, coder, and data scientist Matt Daniels decided to explore which rappers possessed the largest vocabulary.

To make it fair, Daniels focused on the 85 artists’ first 35,000 lyrics. He then compared those calculations to the first 5,000 words of seven Shakespeare plays and the first 35,000 words of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.

The results of Daniels’ analysis placed Aesop Rock at number one. The Wu-Tang Clan and its respective members controlled 6 spots in the top 25 with GZA coming in at number two. Kool Keith took number 3 while Canibus (4) and CunninLyguists (5) rounded out the top 5.

Some of the most recognizable names were near the bottom of the list. 2Pac was 68, Kanye West was 71, Lil Wayne was 72, and Drake was 83. DMX came in last.

When broken down by region the East Coast had the highest vocabulary level and the South had the lowest. Only 4 out of 17 southern artists in the dataset were above average, but southern representatives OutKast made the top 20 at 15.
