Saigon informed HipHopMyWay that his upcoming album The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 3: The Troubled Times of Brian Carenard was “the quickest album I ever wrote.” The label will release “Sinner’s Prayer” on April 21st, will serve as the first single for the upcoming album and will have an accompanying music video featuring Papoose and Omar Epps.

Saigon and Squid Inc Squad partnered with global digital media company, CPXi and explains that the move is based on his belief that music will be completely digital in a decade:

Smoke DZA Explains The Night He, French Montana & Chinx Drugs Got Arrested (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News)  On January 31st of this year, Funkmaster Flex and Cipha Sounds revived the 90s/early 00’s The Tunnel parties at B.B. Kings. Following the event, French Montana, Jadakiss and a few other attendees were arrested and Smoke DZA has come through with part of the story.

Appearing on Cipha Sounds’ Take It Personal improv show, DZA explained how what initially began as a show appearance turned into a trip to the precinct. After being arrested for a warrant he was not sure really existed, DZA shares how French Montana maintained his humor even while cramped in the back of a police car:

I had to go in, like, sideways and kind of finesse myself into the back. French [Montana] had to go in the same way. So we’re driving to Central Bookings, back to back. [Laughs] I couldn’t even make this up. We back to back. We driving. They not even taking the lights. Every time we on the road, I see these motherfu*kers going through the lights. So French was like “step on it, mannnn!

Dark Energy: Giving Movers And Shakers Freedom To Stay Fully Charged

Last month, I attended – once again- the daunting SXSW festival. The worldwide event, which takes place in Austin, TX, is an incredibly rigorous affair that saps all of your strength. The music portion of SXSW will not only drain the individual, but it will severely test the battery life of the individual’s mobile device. Every day, I was going from show to show. I was taking pictures, taking videos and generally trying to document the days and nights of my stay in Austin. And then there is incessantly checking all of the social media apps and numerous emails like a crack head looking for another fix. All of that saps the strength of my iPhone like Kryptonite strips Superman of his might.

Never fear, Dark Energy is here. (No, not that stuff that speeds up the expansion of the universe. The Dark Energy Reservoir: Premium Portable Charging System!)

I’ve seen several products on the market meant to power batteries in devices owned by people on the go. But, nothing I saw or got from the market seemed to work for me. That all changed when I obtained the Dark Energy System. For some reason, when I landed in Austin, my phone died during the plane ride from New York. Normally, that would have been an emergency and I would be looking for a plug. I was upset, but Immediately found solice in Dark Energy. I had power – quickly. And it lasted me from the moment I got off the plane well into the night.

Dark Energy launched The Reservoir – what I have – with a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $170,000 to perfect the design that portable charger users like myself would eventually depend on. It really does represent a certain freedom where I felt fully able to use my device as it was mean to be used – all day. The Reservoir will fully charge a phone about 5 time and also will charge a tablet or iPad. It can also charge two devices at once.

According to the creators, The Reservoir is the “the worlds most compact portable power system.” That may be true, but at times it can feel cumbersome. It fits comfortably in a a normal sized man-pocket but, if you are a woman in a mini-dress with no purse, you may have an issue. To me, that is a small price to pay for the security and freedom of obsessing over my mini-computer-and-general-life-saver-slash-phone. Lastly, if you want to get all zombie apocalypse with it, you can. Charge The Reservoir up and let it sit. It will stay fully charged for a full year.

Overall, I highly recommend the Dark Energy Reservoir.

What was particularly cool was a few of the artists and tastemakers that I came across at SXSW asked me about The Reservoir and I even charged a couple rapper-phones at the AllHipHop concert. Nowadays, its apart of my daily routine in New York and beyond.

Look how happy and free this guy looks!

Vybz Kartel Reportedly Cooperated With Police To Get Reduced Sentence

(AllHipHop News) Just weeks after being sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, reports have surfaced that dancehall artist Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer provided information to police in hopes of reducing his sentence.

According to the Jamaica Observer, police sources confirm Kartel helped authorities capture several wanted individuals and recover 17 illegal firearms.

Kartel supposedly approached the police about cooperating when the investigation into the death of Williams was coming to a close and it appeared he was going to be tied to the murder.

“He wanted to meet with the commissioner who assigned a member of the high command to meet him. During the meeting he offered information on wanted men in Portmore and also coughed up a number of illegal firearms,” said the JO source. “He was trying to broker a deal to get the charges dropped.”

Police are also looking into the disappearance of funeral director Jennifer Edwards. Edwards went missing in January and officers claim to have evidence that she was killed to cover-up what happened to Williams’ body.

“We believe she was killed because she was the weak link and she knew too much, but we are still investigating,” added the police source.

Kartel and a funeral director also allegedly met with a police officer to discuss whether Williams was cremated.

Kartel was convicted of Williams’ murder in March and sentenced to 35 years in prison. André St John, “Shawn Storm” Campbell, and Kahira Jones were all convicted as well. All four have appealed their convictions.

Meek was arrested on October 31, 2012 when police officers claimed they smelled marijuana in his car. No illegal drugs were found at that time, but he was still held in custody for nine hours.

According to Meek, the stop prevented him from catching a plane to Atlanta where he was scheduled for a promotional appearance. Meek contends he lost $22,000 on the cancelled flight and another $39,000 for missing his event.

Meek’s suit also states that the ordeal forced him to settle a deal with shoe company Puma for only $650,000 when it was originally being negotiated for $2 million. Apparently, the negative attention from the arrest affected the final agreement.

Meek Mill filed a civil rights violations, false imprisonment, invasion of privacy and civil conspiracy lawsuit against the Philadelphia police department in 2013.
