MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE: June Featuring Big K.R.I.T. – “Big Pimpin”

(AllHipHop Premiere) Memphis emcee June and Mississippi emcee Big K.R.I.T. join forces in the new video for “Big Pimpin.” June describes the track, produced by his brother Teddy Walton, as a modern, southern version of the Jay Z classic single off 1999’s Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter album.

“I visualized Jay Z’s version of ‘Big Pimpin’ in my mind, but the way we do it up in Memphis and Down South, and the lyrics just naturally started flowing,” says June. “Having Big K.R.I.T. on this single was my vision before I even met Big K.R.I.T.”

The clip was directed by J.R. Saints (Juicy J’s “Bandz A Make Her Dance,” The Game’s “Ali Bomaye”). It also features an appearance by Maybach Music Group member Gunplay.

“The video shoot was again what I envisioned it. We had Gunplay pass by and bless the track and video by being part of my ‘Big Pimpin’ vision,” adds June. “Big Pimpin is just not money, women and partying, but it’s about being real and feeling good about being you, and Gunplay added to that real element.”

Young Thug Reportedly Says He Signed With Cash Money Records

(AllHipHop News) There has been speculation for some time that Atlanta rapper Young Thug was joining Cash Money Records. There were the numerous posts on Birdman’s Instagram page of the 21-year-old with the YMCMB team and a tweet from Thug that simply read, “RichGang….. YMCMB family.”

Massappeal is now reporting that Young Thug has confirmed he is the newest member of Cash Money. When asked if it was official, Thug replied, “Yeah. I signed.”

Young Thug’s buzz began to grow in 2013 with songs like “Picacho” and “Stoner.” His “Danny Glover” track recently got a co-sign from a YMCMB member – Nicki Minaj. The First Lady of Young Money released a remix to the single in January.

Nicki’s Malcolm X Is A “Lookin’ Ass N####?”

________________

_________________

I might be the first blogger to say this, but I think Nicki Minaj is the greatest female rapper evaaaar! I’ve been a fan of hers since her battle-rap days leading up to transitioning into mainstream hip-hop. She even got a nod on my “Top 10 Hawt Chicks I’d Like to Bang” blog. (http://khalilamani.ning.com/profiles/blogs/top-10-chicks-i-d-bang-i…) (What an honor for her!) And this new, more au naturale look is beautiful! I think it’s time for her to lose the clown get-ups. Gosh darn does Nicki look 100% better like this? Hell yeah!

Having said that…

The hell was she thinking putting our dear brother Malcolm X—El Hajj Malik el Shabazz—our shining Black Prince on the cover of her new single, “Lookin’ Ass N#####?” Are there any sacred cows in hip-hop? This ranks right up there with Nas & Kanye’s portrayal of Jesus on Rolling Stone & Nas’ “Hate Me Now” video. Epic fail! Faux pas! (Misstep) Pure f**kery and disrespect on an unfathomable level!

Yes! I read Nicki’s apology to Malcolm’s family and I read what she had to say about the picture and I’m glad she’s removed the imagery, but the damage is already done! Malcolm X belonged to a nation of black people who were either in the black liberation struggle or have read about his life. Nicki offended many.

Don’t get a brotha wrong! I understand the whole artistic thingy—you know, interpret the art, push the envelope, but hot dayum! This is either one coonerific idea she wants us to buy into or she’s putting Malcolm in the category with the Negroes she’s rapping about.

Maybe it’s just a coincidence or maybe she’s heard about the Loaded Lux vs. Hollow Da Don rap battle a few weeks ago, where Loaded Lux & Company came on stage dressed like Black Panthers, while holding that SAME picture of Malcolm staring out the window. But, unlike Darling Nicki, Lux actually incorporated the idea of uplifting the Black Nation in his raps.

(The Malcolm X picture on left at January’s rap battle)

But dissing n##### with a Malcolm picture?

I listened to the song and never heard a Malcolm X reference. This song is a new-jack “Scrubs” anthem—a dissing of the average Joe—the blue collar working man who has nowhere near the money she has, but likes to go clubbing and chips in for bottle & V.I.P. service to feel special on the weekend. (Since when can’t n##### share a bottle? We share blunts!) Even the brothas who are “ballin’ on a budget” (Star’s words)—flo’ showin’, fakin’-it-till-you-makin’-it, slangin’ grams instead of bricks—she threw a blanket over erry conceivable kinda dude in the club! And then she did the improbable! Diss the rich n#### who flew her to Dubai! (All I know is that if I ever get in position to fly Nicki or the local hoodrat to Dubai—she’s giving up ass on top of ass!)

It never occurs to Nicki that the Average Joes & Average Booqueeshas Barbies put their pennies together to make her rich. She don’ sat her phat-ass on the toilet-seat of party-going masculinity and took a big-ol’ doo-doo on us! (I haven’t forgotten our brother Malcolm! Just hold on!)

So here it is—Black History Month. Is “Lookin’ Ass N#####” Nicki’s way of exposing young impressionable Barbies & Kens to Malcolm X? Indeed, Malcolm was “watchin’ for ni***s a####” (pause) who had turned against him because of what he had spoken about the Honorable Elijah Muhammad (fathering children by teenage chicks). Malcolm wasn’t in a speakeasy or afterhours joint poppin’ bottles. He had done that many years prior to joining the Nation of Islam. Malcolm was about that liberation life—having to watch his back from agent provocateurs, Hoover’s FBI Counter Intelligence Program (Cointelpro.) and Nation of Islam shooters that wanted his head.

In the context of watchin’ these “lookin’ ass n#####” so that they don’t harm you, I get that Nicki, but the imagery just doesn’t sit well with what you’re rapping about. Malcolm was really watching these “lookin’ ass nas” to save his life! In contrast, Nicki is just clowin’ “lookin’ ass nas” for admiring her steez/swag. She ain’t in fear of her life and that’s what makes the imagery so disturbing and blasphemous.

And this is how one of the “bestest” names in the game chooses to pay homage to a Towering Giant in Black History Month? Smh.

Dare I say, if Malcolm X were here today he’d be one jaded m########### (like Bill Cosby) behind hip-hop’s fuckery? He might even flip his famous phrase, “The Chickens have come home to roost” (referring to America’s violence against countries now being perpetuated by Americans on Americans) to “The Chicken-head has come home to roost!” (A diss to Nicki) Couldja really blame him? I’m jus’ sayin’… (I still love you Nicki and that was great of you to acknowledge your error! Movin’ on…)

The issues between 50 and Henchman have been ongoing for years. Henchman is currently on trial for the 2009 killing of G-Unit associate Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher.

Prior to Fletcher’s death, Henchman accused G-Unit’s Tony Yayo of attacking his son, and prosecutors allege a 2005 shooting outside the Hot 97 radio station was part of the feud as well.

Kanye West Addresses Drake’s Rolling Stone Comments (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Drake made waves recently because of his comments about Kanye West in Rolling Stone magazine. The Toronto rapper was quoted as saying there were “real questionable bars” on Kanye’s Yeezus album.

Kanye finally responded to what Drake had to say about his lyrical ability on his last LP, but instead attacking the YMCMB rapper, Ye defended him against the media.

“They keep on talking about Drake and s**t, but I’m gonna tell what it is and isn’t with the magazines,” says Kanye. “They always be trying to pit n***as against each other, and that ain’t going down no more. So tonight it ain’t none of that. We love Drake.”

Kanye goes on to address members of the press. He even threatens to confront writers and publishers in person.

“If anything we’re gonna go after the motherf**kers writing that negativity,” adds Ye. “Before they print some s**t like that, they need to check with me and him to see if it’s okay before they get ran up in they motherf**king office.”

“It only costs 250 to beat your ass,” Kanye sings referring to the reported amount he paid a man to not press charges in an assault case in Beverly Hills.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Amber Rose Sneak Dissing Kanye West?

Over the weekend, Kanye West unleashed his lyrical legacy on the people again – in the strangest way. He created a remix of the Beyonce record “Drunk In Love” and released it to the world. The song was already a hit record, beloved by all…but Yeezy apparently ruined it for one person. And that would be his ex, Amber Rose.

Now, she would later clarify that she wasn’t dissing West. Do you believe?

I think she was:

Village of Pharaohs – Here We Are (P### by. Chris Wheeler)

Village of Pharaohs, American hip-hop group from North Carolina, releases their new single “Here We Are” produced by Chris Wheeler. After releasing their debut project “Pharaodysseus (1996 A.D.)” in November featuring collaborations with Rapsody, Emilio Rojas, and Legendary Ski Beatz, producer from Jay-Z “Reasonable Doubt” to Curren$y’s “Pilot Talk,” the group is already set to release their sophomore project “Pharaodigm Shift” on February 24th, 2014 hosted by DJBooth.net.

On the Killing of Jordan Davis by Michael Dunn

This opt-ed piece was originally posted on TheAtlantic.com.

I wish I had something more to say about the fact that Michael Dunn was not convicted for killing a black boy. Except I said it after George Zimmerman was not convicted of killing a black boy. Except the parents of black boys already know this. Except the parents of black boys have long said this, and they have been answered with mockery.

Jordan Davis had a mother and a father. It did not save him. Trayvon Martin had a mother and a father. They could not save him. My son has a father and mother. We cannot protect him from our country, which is our aegis and our assailant. We cannot protect our children because racism in America is not merely a belief system but a heritage, and the inability of black parents to protect their children is an ancient tradition.

Henry “Box” Brown, whose family was destroyed and whose children were trafficked, knew:

I stationed myself by the side of the road, along which the slaves, amounting to three hundred and fifty, were to pass. The purchaser of my wife was a Methodist minister, who was about starting for North Carolina. Pretty soon five wagon-loads of little children passed, and looking at the foremost one, what should I see but a little child, pointing its tiny hand towards me,  exclaiming, “There’s my father; I knew he would come and bid me good-bye…”

Spare us the invocations of “black on black crime.”  I will not respect the lie. I would rather be thought insane. The most mendacious phrase in the American language is “black on black crime,” which is uttered as though the same hands that drew red lines around the ghettoes of Chicago are not the same hands that drew red lines around the life of Jordan Davis,  as though black people authored North Lawndale and policy does not exist. That which mandates the murder of our Hadiya Pendletons necessarily mandates the murder of Jordan Davis. I will not respect any difference. I will not respect the lie. I would rather be thought crazy.

I insist that the irrelevance of black life has been drilled into this country since its infancy, and shall not be extricated through the latest innovations in Negro Finishing School. I insist that racism is our heritage, that Thomas Jefferson’s genius is no more important than his plundering of the body of Sally Hemmings, that George Washington’s abdication is no more significant than his wild pursuit of Oney Judge, that the G.I Bill’s accolades are somehow inseparable from its racist heritageI will not respect the lie. I insist that racism must be properly understood as an Intelligence, as a sentience, as a default setting to which, likely until the end of our days, we unerringly return.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Why Is Soulja Boy Going To Jail?

Soulja Boy is going to jail, but for what charge? The once-young rapper was living a simple life of goofy raps and dances, but now he’s graduated to the big time. JAIL. Nobody quite knows why he’s announcing going to jail. It could be the gun charge he recently caught, but I’m being told it could be something else – maybe SIZZURP!? Anyway, he made the announcement on Twitter.

B*tch I’m only 24/Everybody salty/N*ggas stop your b*tching/Everybody making money we don’t need to kick it

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye has never done anything conventionally and instead of simply celebrating his 24th birthday heavily intoxicated partying, he decided to release new music. The Toronto singer released the remix to Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love”.

The Weeknd was nominated at this year’s Grammy’s for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration as apart of Wiz Khalifa’s “Remember You”.

Charlamagne Responds To Kanye West, Calls Him “Single, Bitter B*tch”

(AllHipHop News) Charlagmagne has never been in a rap battle in his entire life, but he seems well equipped to respond to rappers. During a segment on The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne responded to Kanye West’s on-stage rant and is no less explicit.

Following Kanye effectively telling Charlamagne to “shut the f*ck up” at his Yeezus tour stop at Bryce Jordan Center this past Thursday (February 13th), Charlamagne believes Kanye is acting like a “single, bitter b*tch.” Charlamagne questions the validity of Kanye’s gripe with the radio personality by the timing of the rant:

If you felt that way and you sat here in this studio for over an hour and didn’t say none of that. But, now three to four months later you ranting about me again.

Hip-Hop Rumors: WHAT? 50 Cent and Rick Ross Collaborating RIGHT NOW?

As you may or may not know, All-Star Weekend is in full swing in New Orleans. This means every rapper, baller, fake baller, industry person, s####, thot, and homeless person is down there trying to make something happen. Some people are just having fun thought. But, there of something else brewing that most people don’t know. Sources have revealed to me that 50 Cent and Rick Ross are working on an 11th hour song to be added to Rozay’s Masterpiece album, that drops on March 4. YUP. This is going down, y’all. Now, there may be some variation on this rumor like its for a DJ Khaled song or something, but its SOMETHING. I know Khaled is there too, so that’s just why I said it MAY be for something else. Looks like Rick Ross is ending beefs with everybody. Remember what these guys were going through? It takes real forgiveness to get past what they went through years ago. No need to rehash THAT.

BUT…what is weird is that…
