WTF News: Kid Finds P### on His Brand New Nintendo DSi

An 8-year-old boy discovered p### on what was supposed to be a brand new Nintendo DSi.

Tom Mayhew, the kid’s father, told Hampton, Virginia’s WAVY  TV that his son and some other children discovered the photos on the gaming system when he was playing with it Christmas morning.

“It was a shocker because we had family here, and there were a lot of kids here,” Mayhew told the station. “The kids were the ones that discovered those pictures.”

Mayhew said he bought the Nintendo at Walmart on Dec. 23 but the 12 pornographic images dated back to early December. Mayhew’s  theory is that someone previously bought the device, put p### on it, and then returned it. However, when he bouthg the device, he was under the impression that it was new.

So far, Walmart has not returned inquiries about how this mix up could have happened.

Questlove Apologizes For Offending Japanese Community With Instagram Post

(AllHipHop News) In this episode of Social Media Ruined The Intelligent Star, The Roots’ drummer Questlove sent out a series of Instagram posts from his trip in Japan that offended many in the Japanese community.

Cited by popular gossip blog Oh No They Didn’t! (ONTD), Questlove deleted one Instagram photo of a Japanese department store employee with the caption making fun of her vocal tonality:

GDIFp2x

In his apology originally posted on Okayplayer yesterday (December 26th), ?uestlove explains that he was merely comparing the Japanese woman’s vocal tones “to that of a (church) deacon speaking in tongues.” However, there were multiple instances of Questlove stereotypically replacing the l’s with r’s when describing a few Japanese people and places he encountered. He also posted this Vine of a sleeping Japanese man with the caption “McSnoleArot”:

While ?uestlove does not specifically address the aformentioned Vine post, he does realize the hypocrisy in his offensive comments that he did not want to offend:

given that black culture consistently finds itself at the butt end of so many offensive “outsider” jokes, I should be way, way more sensitive

Check out Questlove’s full apology below:

ok. addressing the elephant in the room on christmas

unfortunately, i’ve offended my asian brothers & sisters with an IG post which i made during my recent tour of japan. in that post, i likened a japanese department storeemployee’s vocal intonation to that of a (church) deacon speaking in tongues. clearly, i didn’t intend to offend anyone (asian or otherwise), clearly, i *thought* that comparison was funny-cute

… and clearly i thought wrong.

in hindsight, it’s easy to see how my post was yet another example of the ugly, american flipping yet another ugly/racially/culturally insensitive script. so, let me make this abundantly clear….

THE ISH THAT I SAID WAS DUMB (PERIOD).

And no, it wasn’t Duck Dynasty/Phil Robertson mean spirited-xenophobic dumb (but the last time i checked, sleep was still the cousin of death)

—look. i’m a human being and dumber yet, i’m a public figure. if you’re lucky enough to be either of the aforementioned, then not only should one stay clear of saying or writing hurtful things, one should actively work against feeling comfortable, thinking hurtful thoughts. given that black culture consistently finds itself at the butt end of so many offensive “outsider” jokes, I should be way, way more sensitive (after all, who’s zooming who). I for one, should never allow my cultural bias to take precedence over my “examined life” (clunkers be damned). i know the whole kinder and gentler thing reeks of a self serving political correctness, but eff it, it’s “all me”.

so, here i am once again, publicly coming to terms with some more of my stupid “say, say, say” ish. allow me to ask for forgiveness and understanding from anyone that i’ve offended. I will be better in 2014 (i promise)

-thank you.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Nya Lee Homeless Shortly Before 'Love & Hip-Hop?'

It wasn’t always all good for Nya Lee.

So…the stripper/rapper who now has a national platform on the current season of Love & Hip-Hop (and who native New Yorker’s may remember from the incident where she was stabbed in a Bronx club) is keeping up a tough, boss chick exterior like she’s been on but she just started her come up.

Whispers are saying, just a couple of years ago she was living at her good friend’s mother’s house with nothing. I’m told that at that time, she had absolutely no body, and the stripper and rapper personas weren’t popping yet. Eventually, she ran into the stabbing incident and completely reinvented herself. She left the country to get her body enhanced (she’s open about the illegal butt injections she got) and then the skripping took off followed by the rapping. You know strippers get to meet all types of interesting people with money and clout.

Folks say she still likes to keep up appearances like she’s more popping than she really is.

Google Sells Yeezus For Free, Kanye And Kim Named Worst Neighbors of 2013

(AllHipHop News) 2013 proved to be one of the most difficult for Kanye West in terms of public relations management. From paparazzi attacks to numerous inflammatory rants at talk show host and Nike representatives, Kanye West has been polarizing to say the least. To culminate his arduous 2013, two things have happened that sum up Kanye West’s 2013 pretty succinctly: Google is selling Yeezus for free and Kim Kardashian and Kanye were named the worst neighbors of 2013.

After Yeezus’ first week sales were more than 100,000 copies lower than Kanye’s previous 1st week low (College Dropout/441k), Google Play , Google’s music store, is now selling the album for free. As apart of its holiday promotion it is also selling Drake’s single “Started From The Bottom” for free and Danny Brown’s Old album for a discounted price of $3.99.

Kanye West might make an affordable late Christmas present, however according to a recent survey, him and his wife do not make the best neighbors. For the seventh annual Zillow® Celebrity Neighbor Survey, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were deemed the worst neighbors to leave near in 2013. Over 1,000 randomly-selected adults aged 18 and over residing in the United States were asked which celebrities they would want to live near and which they would not. After praising their winner for most desirable neighbor for 2014, Jimmy Fallon, Zillow gave their reasoning for why people would be adverse to living near Hip Hop’s power couple:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, on the other hand, have a reputation for living an over-the-top lifestyle, with drama and the paparazzi never too far behind. No one wants to live next door to a family who has cameras following them everywhere and seems to seek out as much attention as possible. However, with more than one-third of surveyed Americans preferring a non-celebrity neighbor, what remains clear is that many people don’t want to live next to any celebrity, regardless of why they are famous

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were also tied with Lebron James for least desirable neighbors for 2014.

Nikki Giovanni Speaks On The Domination Of Black Music & The "Assassination" Of 2Pac

(AllHipHop News) Legendary author, activist, and college professor Nikki Giovanni stopped by Sway Calloway’s Shade 45 radio show to promote her latest book Chasing Utopia. While on the program the 70-year-old poet spoke about the legacy of Black music and her 2Pac inspired “thug life” tattoo.

“Europeans came to America and they really remained Europeans. We are the only people that came to America and became Americans, because we had to completely recreate ourselves,” stated Giovanni. “We did that mostly with song, and it’s one of the reasons that we still dominate. No matter what else it is, the Black American sound dominates. Everybody wants to sound like us.”

Dr. Giovanni has inspired many people associated with Hip Hop and admits the culture influences her as well. She even has Tupac Shakur’s signature phrase “Thug Life” inked on her forearm to “show that the old ladies care.” Giovanni puts Pac’s killing on the same level as some of the murders of 1960’s cultural/political figures.

“That was an assassination, and it needs to be considered with the assassination of John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King,” said Giovanni. “He was assassinated to change America, because they didn’t like where he was leading. Tupac was a leader.”

Giovanni also expressed her criticism of Barack Obama and her praise for Queen Latifah, Beyoncé, and Jay Z. She called on people to continue to support Winnie Mandela as well.

The Lox Speak On Who's To Blame For The Fall Of NYC Hip Hop

(AllHipHop News) The state of New York Hip Hop has been endlessly debated over the last several years. The conversation came to the forefront this year after Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse and Trinidad James’ “the South runs New York” comments.

Veteran rap group The Lox came back on the music scene this month with their Trinity EP, and the Yonkers natives gave their opinion about where NYC rap is at the moment. Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch shout out Fabolous, Troy Ave, Mack Wilds, and Joey Bada$$ as some of the New York talent holding it down for the city.

“New York is feeling great right now,” Jadakiss tells Hot 97. “It’s beautiful. It’s a lot of things going right.”

The discussion eventually led to accusations that the radio station’s program director Ebro Darden is one of the main reasons New York Hip Hop fell off.

“Y’all do play all south music though,” Styles tells Ebro. “You the program director so you gotta take in on the chin.”

Styles points out that Hot 97 had not been supporting a lot of the young New Yorkers like Action Bronson, Troy Ave, and Joey Bada$$. He and Kiss also admit it is not just radio’s fault for the fall of New York Hip Hop. The artists, DJs, and clubs from the city take partial blame for losing the NYC sound.
