Hip-Hip Rumors: Rihanna Bending Dudes Over?

Sheesh…the internet rumors can be a trip and merciless. Rumor on the block is that Rihanna is taking her freak side to a new level. Oddly, this rumor comes as Rihanna was taking images outside a mosque. There goes that religious revival. The word on the block is that RiRi has adopted a strap-on and has used it on some dude in the fashion industry. I’m not sure if that makes her gay or him or some mutant form of it, but it definitely makes them freaks. At first, it was a rumor that she had done this sort of mess with Chris Brown or Drake, but that notion was quickly dispelled. And, that’s not a rumor I would wish on my favorite enemy. Shout out to Chris Brown. I suspect he’s the dude that Micheal Jackson wanted to be: Bad and Dangerous.

Jay Z Receives Support From Al Sharpton In Barney’s Profiling Case

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z has been catching a heavy dose of heat from those that feel he needs to kill a highly publicized business deal with Barney’s, the high end retail store accused of racial profiling.
However, the rapper mogul received support from Rev. Al Sharpton, who said that Jay’s critics are looking at the wrong target.
“Some people want to make this about Jay-Z,” Sharpton said. “No, this is about Barneys first.”

Sharpton made the comments at the National Action Network offices, according to a report from the New York Post.

The civil rights leader also said that Barney’s better come up with a plan for the alleged racist actions of the New York store. The store profiled and questioned pricey purchases of a pair of African American patrons. A boycott may result if a meeting between NAN and Barney’s doesn’t yield a satisfactory plan.

Jay Z maintained in a statement that the deal with Barney’s wasn’t lucrative an any way.

Exclusive: Tha Chill of Compton’s Most Wanted Checks In From Prison

Compton’s Most Wanted member and Co-Founder, Tha Chill (also known as MC Chill), made urban gossip headlines in early 2012 when it was reported that he was arrested on domestic abuse charges. One site even went as far as to describe it as him “beating his girlfriend half to death.” Recently, Chill reached out to AllHipHop.com from prison in Norco, CA to tell us his story of what really happened. Chill also updates us on why the 1st Generation group was put on hold (and yes, it has to do with members going in and out of jail). Hopefully everybody can get out and stay out because that would be a nice album project of West Coast legends and veterans. The Compton rapper also released a new album on iTunes in September called Chillstrumentals, a mixture of unreleased songs and instrumentals from his catalogue. Stay up, Chill.

AllHipHop.com: How did you really end up in the Norco CRC Prison?

Tha Chill: There’s been a bunch of rumors and all types of sh*t said about what happened, saying that I beat my b*tch up and all types of crazy sh*t. I’m in here for a simple probation violation. I was on five year suspended sentence probation. Me and my b*tch were arguing and the neighbor called the cops and I was arrested two months later because I had come in contact with the police. I was at the house chilling and they arrested me. I was thinking that I was going to get right out but I violated my probation. In California if you are on probation and you come in to contact with the Police, that’s a violation of your probation. I have to finish my suspended sentence but they are only having me do eighty percent of it.

AllHipHop.com: I had read reports on various gossip sites that you had beat up your girlfriend.

Tha Chill: It was a simple argument. The neighbors called the cops and we were in the front yard talking sh*t. My girl didn’t call the Police on me – it was the neighbors. We didn’t even know that they had called the Police – we left. I didn’t know any of this until two months later. The cops showed up at my doorstep with a felony warrant and I’m like, “For what?” They told me that it was because the cops were called on me and I was on suspended sentence probation.

AllHipHop.com: Man, they can take you in as easily as that?

Tha Chill: Yeah, it was something I learned. Instead of fighting it, and with my prior record, it was worth it to take the deal just to get it out of the way, so that’s what I’m doing now. I’m just sitting here and getting it over with so I can get out and not be on probation anymore.

AllHipHop.com: How much time have you officially served already?

Tha Chill: I’ve been down for two years and I’ve got one more to officially go. Time is ticking and I’m getting this sentence behind me. I miss my family, my kids and making my music.

AllHipHop.com: How are you holding up inside there?

Tha Chill: I’m in here doing my thing, with the whole Hub to Dub car (Compton & Watts). A lot of people recognize me but they know that I’m a street dude first before a rapper. Nobody’s trying to step to me or be on some bullsh*t. There be sh*t happening but I’m not involved in any of that sh*t.

AllHipHop.com: What’s your Prison day like?

Tha Chill: I wake up at 4 a.m. and do about a thousand push-ups, brush my teeth, take a shower, and shave my head. Go eat some food like oatmeal with an apple pie. I’ll go chill with the homies and see what’s up with them for a minute. I’ll watch some news, TMZ, and Wendy Williams. Then I’ll go work out some more and then work on my Compton’s Most Wanted book that I’m trying to put out. I’d love to make a movie about it when I get out. It’s the story of me and MC Eiht on our beginnings and how we got to this point. I think my story can encourage people whether they are in Prison or on the streets and help them to stay out of trouble and how the California system works.

AllHipHop.com: Are you able to make any kind of music at all in there? I’ve spoken to several artists who were incarcerated and some even had access to recording equipment.

Tha Chill: They have programs in Church. I play drums for a band. There are real talented people in here that unfortunately will never see the streets. We have fun together and I’ve learned a lot from these guys. There are drum machines and other instruments in here but you can’t just go get them whenever you want them.

AllHipHop.com: Your camp recently released a new album from you called Chillstrumentals that’s on iTunes.

Tha Chill: My partner has a lot of the music that I’ve made and he convinced me to not let it sit while I’m in here. We put together some stuff from my catalogue to make an album and secured distribution through Empire. I reached out to the people on my Facebook and asked for suggestions on a title and so many responded. One of them hit me on my inbox and suggested Chillstrumentals. I thought it was good idea to do something like Pete Rock and play a beat before a song comes on. I also put some cuts from my 1st Generation(includes Kurupt, Jayo Felony, King T, Sir Jinx, MC Eiht, DJ Battlecat, Gangsta) group on there to just let people know that we still plan on rocking together. We just all want to be present. I want people to hear my talents as a Producer. A lot of people think that I just rap. Then there are those that think that I just produce and don’t rap. Chillstrumentals is just a reminder to people while I’m away of what I can still do.

AllHipHop.com: I’m glad that 1st Generation is still in the plans because I honestly gave up on it.

Tha Chill: Nah, what happened was Gangsta (formerly of Tha Comrads) went to jail and we were waiting on him to get out. Then Jayo Felony went to jail too. It’s crazy because I’m trying to keep all of my homies out of jail and I end up here. We’ve got priors and that’s California for you. I spoke with the other members and we decided that we are still going to do it but we need everybody present for it.

Chris Brown Arrested For Assaulting A Man In D.C., Man Hospitalized

(AllHIpHop News) A strong nominee for “most typed sentence” in Hip Hop over the past year: Chris Brown has been arrested. TMZ reports that Brown was arrested for alleged felony assault outside of the W Hotel at 15th and K St earlier this morning (October 27).

According to the report, Brown got into an argument with a man and things escalated into a physical confrontation. The unidentified man was injured during the fight to the point of needing medical attention and is currently in a Washington, D.C. hospital.

Brown still has to comply with his probation for his assault of Rihanna four years ago which stipulates legal infractions could result in up to four years in prison. Brown recently avoided such a fate this past August after his hit and run case was dropped.

TMZ’s “law enforcement sources” detailed how the entire physical confrontation resulted over a poorly chosen photobomb by two men:

Two woman approached Brown in front of the W Hotel and asked to take a picture with him.  As the pic was about to be taken, 2 men rushed over to get in the photo.  We’re told Chris then said, “I’m not into this gay s**t, I’m into boxing,” and threw a punch at the alleged victim.  The fight was then taken to the ground.

Chris Brown is currently in custody.

Jay Z Responds To Barneys Controversy: Not Leaving ‘Till I Know The Facts

(AllHipHop News) After reports of two separate racial discrimination by two African American teens at Barneys’ flagship store in New York City, Jay Z seems to have more of a problem with the media than Barneys. In a statement posted on his personal website Life+Times, Jay Z denounced the negative criticism on his delayed response and addressed if he will stop his planned holiday collection with Barneys.

Jay reasons that he did not immediately respond to the October 22nd news of Trayon Christian’s alleged racial profiling at Barneys due to a lack of facts:

I move and speak based on facts and not emotion. I haven’t made any comments because I am waiting on facts and the outcome of a meeting between community leaders and Barneys.

Jay Z not only is hesitant in removing his collection, he also equates him making a rush judgment of Barneys to racists profling people:

I am against discrimination of any kind, but if I make snap judgements, no matter who it’s towards, aren’t I committing the same sin as someone who profiles?

The majority of Jay’s statement revolves around clearing up misconceptions of his character and the nature of his deal with Barneys. Jay maintains that The Shawn Carter Foundation will receive “25% of all sales from the collaboration, 10% of all sales generated in the store on November 20th and an additional donation from Barneys.”

The collection will start being sold online and in stores on November 20th.

Quincy Jones Suing Michael Jackson Estate For $10 Million

(AllHipHop News) Just days after reports that Michael Jackson made $160 million dollars over the last year, the man who helped transform him from child star to the King of Pop is seeking at least $10 million from his estate. Legendary music producer Quincy Jones claims he is owed unpaid royalties and production fees.

Jones, who worked with Jackson on his early solo albums Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad, is seeking compensation for the use of MJ tracks in the documentary This Is It and the two Cirque du Soleil shows The Immortal World Tour and One.

According to the suit, Jones has the contractual right to re-edit songs he worked on and should have been given producer credit for This Is It. He wants an account of the estate’s profits to determine the total amount of rightful fees due to him.

“To the best of its knowledge, Mr. Jones has been appropriately compensated over approximately 35 years for his work with Michael,” said the Jackson estate in a statement.

Hip-Hip Rumors: New Beef For WALE?

Wale never hurt a fly! The dude just does his poetry, makes dope songs and keeps is pushin’ so what is this I am hearing in the streets?

I’m hearing somebody is not happy with the D.C. rapper. Southeast aka Sace, who has rapped with Wale, has issues with Wale. He’s expressed his grievances in a new song. So, I listened to this song, “Forever Hitter Quitter,” and its pretty good. But he basically says that he helped Wale and never got any sort of recognition. He says he reached out to Wale and tried to be a man about it. But, it all fell apart when his brother died and Wale apparently didn’t recognition of his loss. So, he takes the Meek Mill beat and flips it into a rage track.

“Treme” Actor Sues Macy’s & NYPD For Racial Profiling

(AllHipHop News) Another incident of “shopping-while-black” in a New York City department store is making news. This time the retailer is Macy’s and the victim is a star of the HBO program Treme. Robert Brown is suing Macy’s in Manhattan Supreme Court for allegedly having him detained by police for almost an hour in June. Brown says Macy’s employees accused him of using a fraudulent credit card.

The accusation of illegal credit card use against Brown is similar to the cases of Trayon Christian and Kayla Phillips. The two New York residents claimed they were discriminated against by Barneys earlier this week. Their situations sparked widespread criticism of the high-end store and led to an online petition asking Jay Z to end his business relationship with Barney’s.

Brown was at Macy’s to purchase a $1,300 Movado watch as a college graduation gift for his mother. He was stopped and held by plainclothes officers who he says made the comment that he “could not afford to make such an expensive purchase.” He was not charged for any crime.

The Finding Forrester and Coach Carter actor also names the New York Police Department in his lawsuit claiming they violated his civil rights. He’s seeking an unspecified amount in the case. His lawyer says the lawsuit is about justice not money.

“Why was I put in cuffs? Why was I even approached?” Brown asked last night. “It was a slap in the face.”

New York City’s Law Department will review the lawsuit. Macy’s released the statement:

We are investigating the alleged claims, as we were just made aware of this lawsuit. We do not comment on matters in litigation.

Curren$y’s “Jet Life BitTorrent Bundle” Tops 4 Million Downloads

(AllHipHop News) In July New Orleans rapper Curren$y announced he and his Jet Life crew were uniting with the filing sharing site BitTorrent to release an innovative bundle package. The “Jet Life BitTorrent Bundle” included The Red Eye mixtape, cover art, the 8 minute documentary Chef Menteur, an opportunity to visit with the Jets, and a coupon for Red Eye Tour merchandise. It appears this new approach of distributing brand content is successfully redefining the way artists connect with their fans.

In what BitTorrent has dubbed “Mixtape 2.0 Culture”, Jet Life’s bundle package has extended the Hip Hop collective’s reach in several capacities. As a result of the bundle, the Red Eye mixtape was downloaded over 4 million times, growth of Jet Life apparel on their website increased by 500%, and advanced tickets sales for their tour jumped 30%.

“It’s especially true that rap artists understand that a track or a remix can serve as a flyer for your show and a way to build a fan base. That’s what the mixtape culture has been about for decades,” Matt Mason, Vice President of Marketing for BitTorrent told AllHipHop in August. “The fans see this is an evolution of the mixtape. It’s no longer just about a CD on a blanket on 125th Street. It’s a rich, multimedia fan experience.”

BitTorrent has also partnered with Public Enemy, Madonna, Moby, Linkin Park, and others.

Hip-Hip Rumors: Bernard Hopkins Strange Fight Entrance?

So, at 48, people are trying to get Bernard Hopkins out of there. The man has been at this boxing this for so long, people want him OUT. So, he’s been campaigning for a big fight with Floyd Mayweather. I don’t know if people are fully vested in such a fight, but for his fight on Saturday, I am hearing B-Hop is planning to pull out all the stops to promote it.

So, he’s got a new name, “The Alien” and he’s going to live out his creed in a bit, my sources tell me. I got a tip that said Bernard is going to come from the ceiling in a space ship and get out of it as an actual alien. Then he will enter the ring to fight Karo Murat, his opponent. I don’t know what’s up, but if this is true, maybe it will help him get that fight with Floyd.

But, don’t hold your breath.

Jimmy Henchman Gets Life In Jail, Still Faces Conspiracy To Murder

(AllHipHop News) James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, the former manager of The Game and others, was sentenced to life in prison in Brooklyn court Friday.

The ruling ends a drug trafficking case that has carried on since the one-time mogul was convicted in 2012.

Authorities managed to prove that the Hip-Hop staple was moving about $11 million in cocaine in transactions that operated from coast to coast. Reports say he used his musical efforts to mask the cocaine enterprise.

Rosemond still faces conspiracy to murder charges stemming from an alleged plot against G-Unit’s Tony Yayo, who reportedly slapped his son in the street.

EXCLUSIVE: James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond Sentenced To Life; Official Statement

(AllHipHop News) Former Hip-Hop mogul James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond was sentenced to life in prison today (October 25, 2013) in Brooklyn federal court, for heading up the “Rosemond Organization,” which prosecutors said shipped hundreds of kilograms of cocaine to New York via several overnight courier services.

Prosecutors said Rosemond, 48, laundered millions of dollars of drug proceeds on the West Coast and through his New York based management company Czar Entertainment, which once managed popular artists like Game, Brandy, Sean Kingston and others.

In June of 2012, Rosemond was convicted of 13 charges against him, including running a Continuous Criminal Enterprise (CCE) from 2007-2010.

“My Resilience and determination will overcome all adversity and history will vindicate and be kinder to me,” Jimmy Henchman told AllHipHop.com in a statement released today by his publicist, Sibrena Stowe de Fernandez.

During Rosemond’s two-week trial, a number of former employees and former associates testified against him, including director Lee Daniels’ sister’s husband Henry “Black” Butler, who was provided Rosemond with the majority of his cocaine.

Butler, who is a high-ranking member of The Rolling 60’s Crips, helped Rosemond perfect the method of shipping hundreds of kilos of cocaine, which were sent to New York in crates meant for shipping music equipment.

The crates were picked up by runners, or employees of Czar Entertainment, some who took the stand to testify against their former boss.

Rosemond’s statement was brief, because the former rap mogul is facing a murder charge related to the murder of Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher, who was gunned down in the Bronx in September of 2009.

Lodi Mack had served almost two years in prison for striking Rosemond’s young son, James Rosemond Jr. at the height of a violent feud between Czar Entertainment, which managed Game and 50 Cent’s G-Unit.

Rosemond is slated to go on trial for the murder next month.

Check out the full statement from James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond’s publicist Sibrena Stowe de Fernandez:

Today’s life sentence of music mogul, James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond for disheartening for several reasons and it’s unfortunate that Mr. Rosemond was unable to make an official statement because of the appellate process that he must go through and another case that he’ll soon battle.

For those of us who got to know Jimmy for who he is, know a great man who started from the bottom who helped and encouraged those around him to do the right thing. Many of us are surprised by the “person” the prosecutors described in the court room, but it isn’t the Jimmy Rosemond that his friends and family know.

Unfortunately, the persona that have been depicted in the press in the past, has created a persona in which I am not familiar with and unfortunately it has effected his ability to have a fair chance in the entertainment industry and among consumers and fans of certain media outlets and entertainment. The enemies he has accrued over the years within the media have been able to create the image of a person that they wanted to create without facts being checked.

Jimmy has managed and at times supported talented performers who’ve created hit records and songs including; Groove theory, Salt & Pepper, Gucci Mane, The Game and other musicians and actors. The on the job training and work opportunities that he gave countless people from interns, lawyers and employees many of whom are still in the entertainment business to date and who helped shape today’s entertainment industry.

When former employee, Tony Martin -who later testified against Jimmy was let go from Universal Music Group as a non paid intern he (Martin) asked Jimmy for a job. Jimmy took Mr. Martin under the wing and taught him the business of music and eventually earned over $100k a year, according to Mr. Rosemond. When Jimmy was wanted by the federal authorities, it was Tony Martin who assisted in Jimmy Rosemonds’ arrest and testified against Jimmy Rosemond as well.

Accountant John Dash who through his own illegal acts got arrested, was told that there was an interest in James Rosemond, he too testified that all of Rosemond’s cash and income came from illegal proceeds. But what wasn’t proven by Jimmy’s attorney was the fact that entertainment manager who have touring acts often receive cash payments.

The rest of the hanger-ons, opportunist and users who testified, they also were offered agreements by prosecutors. They are either expecting an early release from prison or is have already been released and are able to live and work as free men.

Jimmy Rosemond was known to employ the less fortunate to provide a gainful entertainment opportunities but some wanted to be like Jimmy. His favorite saying was “If someone like Barry Hankerson or Shakim and Kedar didn’t look out for me I would be no where, so I have to look out for someone also.” He was giving back to what was given to him. A trait that all successful moguls should practice.

What is concerning is to witness with my own eyes that anyone can be put away for the rest of his life based on hearsay and non credible individuals. Our prayers should be with Jimmy Rosemond and his family. His only remarks after the sentencing was, “My Resilience and determination will overcome all adversity and history will vindicate and be kinder to me.”

Mr. Rosemond is seeking a new trial because not only because of what he considers a fabricated evidence but also because he believes his attorney Gerald Shargel did a terrible job in consulting and representing him. His new legal team is confident that things will work in his favor and he apologizes to all that have felt he let them down.
