Rappers React To Kendrick Lamar’s Murderous “Control (HOF)” Verse

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar did not hold anything back on his latest verse off Big Sean’s “Control (HOF).” The TDE emcee took a huge step forward in claiming the “The Greatest of His Generation” title by telling several of his peers that the only ones in his league right now are rap veterans Jay Z, Nas, Eminem, and André 3000. He also caught people’s ear when he even claimed that he is “The King of New York.”

In what may be the verse of the year already K-Dot spits:

I’m usually homeboys with the same n*ggas I’m rhyming with
But this is Hip Hop and them n*ggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you n*ggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n*ggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n*ggas

It seems Kendrick’s message was heard loud and clear, because a few emcees took to Twitter to respond.

Daily Word: Put Family First!!

Happy Tuesday La Familia! Bienvenido a la mejor día del resto de tu vida. Welcome to the day you realize that the people who you surround yourself with are the ones who are either going to take you higher or be your downfall! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to putting your family first! Family as defined by Webster dictionary is a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head : household or a group of persons of common ancestry : clan or a people or group of peoples regarded as deriving from a common stock : race or  a group of people united by certain convictions or a common affiliation : fellowship… Today my definition of family is any group of people who love and support each other unconditionally! I don’t care what your bloodline is, who you grew up with, or what set you claim… Effective immediately ONLY surround yourself with those who will lift you higher! You are who you surround yourself with, so if the love isn’t unconditional, if you aren’t being nurtured for growth then you are wasting valuable energy! Put Family First! Those who no matter what, will never judge you and always guinuinely support you! Because as my favorite quote in the world says…. “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
-Ash’Cash

“Surround yourself with people who make you happy. People who make you laugh, who help you when you’re in need. People who genuinely care. They are the ones worth keeping in your life. Everyone else is just passing through.”
-Karl Marx

“When everything goes to hell, the people who stand by you without flinching — they are your family. ”
-Jim Butcher

“Only surround yourself with positive people that bring out the best in you and you’ll be surprised at how much happier you are.”
-Oprah Winfrey

“The only love worthy of a name is unconditional.”
-John Powell

“In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony.”
-Eva Burrows

“Life is what you make it. If you surround yourself with positive people, you will learn to stay positive. Negative people are a waste.”
-Unknown

“To believe in yourself and to follow your dreams, to have goals in life and a drive to succeed, and to surround yourself with the things and the people that make you happy – this is success!”
-Sasha Azevedo

Judge Orders Reforms To Stop-And-Frisk Policy

(AllHipHop News) The New York Police Department’s controversial Stop-and-Frisk policy has been ruled a violation of constitutional rights by a federal judge on Monday. Four men filed a class-action lawsuit against the NYPD in 2004 claiming they were stopped by police just because of their race. U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin said that nine of the 19 stops testified about during the 10-week Floyd vs. City of New York trial were unconstitutional and five stops included wrongful frisking.

[ALSO READ: Reverend Al Sharpton, Rappers Protest NYPD’s Stop & Frisk Policy]

“The city’s highest officials have turned a blind eye to the evidence that officers are conducting stops in a racially discriminatory manner,” wrote Scheindlin. “In their zeal to defend a policy that they believe to be effective, they have willfully ignored overwhelming proof that the policy of targeting ‘the right people’ is racially discriminatory.”

Judge Scheindlin did not end the policy, but offered that it be reformed. An independent court monitor has been assigned to oversee the reforms to the policy. Police in areas where most of the stops took place were also ordered to test wearing body cameras.

“This is a groundbreaking victory,” said NAACP President Ben Jealous.

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg plans to file an appeal of the ruling.

“We didn’t believe that we were getting a fair trial,” said Bloomberg. “And this decision confirms that suspicion.”

Current New York mayoral candidate Anthony W##### called the ruling a “teachable moment for our city.”

Big Sean feat./ Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica- Control/No I.D. Freestyle

“Im usually homeboys with the same nigg*s I’m rhyming with/but this is Hip Hop and them n*ggas should knwo what time it is.”

No disrespect to Big Sean or Jay Electronica, but their new collaboration, “No I.D. Freestyle” essentially begins and ends with a verse of the year candidate performance from Kendrick Lamar.

On the song, K Dot names drops Wale, Big KRIT, Drake, Meek Mill, Jay Electronica, Tyler the Creator, Mac Miller, J. Cole, A$AP Rocky and Pusha T when playfully threatening to “make sure your core fans never heard of you n*ggas.”

This song was left off of Big Sean’s upcoming Hall of Fame album due to “sample clearances”.

Check out the lyrical massacre below:

“Big Sean – “Control (HOF) f. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica

Damn shame this album won’t end up on the new Big Sean album, but the streets should eat this up and have leftovers! Big Sean and Jay Electronica have very impressive showings on “Control,” but Kendrick Lamar drops the atom bomb on every thing.

Listen…just listen to control.

Did Kendrick just drop the verse of the year?

How Taylor Swift Redefined Jay Z’s “Picasso Baby”

Jay Z made a huge splash when he recorded 6 hours of performance art into the tremendously big video “Picasso Baby.” The event was wrought with hype, but mostly it was just another in a series of big moves from the Roc-A-Fella don.

The creative genius on the internet have a different set of art, largely bent on mutilating and mashing up what already exists into something new and redefined. A artist known as Culture Pirate too the final version of “Picasso Baby” and melded it with the audio from Taylor Swift’s “22.” The result can be seen below.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did The Game Get Discriminated Against?

The rapper Game is known to get into some controversy, but this one may be another great human rights issue that faces America going forward. First there was Civil Rights, then Women’s Right and Gay Rights…but now…what about Tattooed People’s Right?

Yeah, The Game wear at a restaurant in Pasadena, CA and apparently he was refused service because of all the tattoos he has on his body. That’s right. Game, known to be a big tipper, was given the boot. The rapper went off on Twitter too. He said: “Never eating (at) Houston’s restaurants as long as I live! Denied service in Pasadena by (the manager)… because: I have tattoos on my arms ?!?… It’s 90 degrees outside so I have a tank top on & the manager on duty says the tattoos on my arms are threatening 2 (to) lunch customers…Racism still exists… Don’t eat at Houston’s Pasadena…”

Now he clearly claims racism, but if he runs with the tattoo side of things, he can probably get more people on his side. Shoot, Black people in 2013 don’t even believe they are racists in the world any more. SMH.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Stevie J Expecting A Baby…Not With Mimi Or Joseline!

Stevie J is a wild boy. You’ve seen the faces.

Anyway, this dude has already set up the next season of “Love And Hip-Hop” lovely. And it just wrapped. But, the good people over at Bossip have breaking news about this.

I’m a former friend of “PROMISE B MAE” and yes she is pregnant by Stevie. They have been keeping this on the low for a minute. Up until the whole marriage thing with him and Joseline they have been seriously beefing, so she told me about a week ago that she will be having an abortion if he doesn’t get his isht together and stop keeping her a secret for TV purposes and because of Joseline. Long story short she changed her number, and since then I ran into Stevie and of course he asked about her and whether or not I had her new number, so we began to talk and I slipped up and told him about the abortion. After she sent the screen shot she called me to see if i received it and to ask me if i told Stevie because only a few people know. I admitted it and the convo got real heated, words were exchanged and it got real ugly so, if that’s how she feel this is how I feel. F**k that b***h her secret is no longer safe with me.

Here she is:

Text messages below.

Did you know back in the day, Steve Raze of AllHipHop was called Stevie J too. Hahahaaha!

Oprah Says Harry Belafonte Needs To Understand Jay Z Better

(AllHipHop News) Oprah is promoting her upcoming role in the film The Butler and sat down with Shaheem Reid and Life+Times about the movie as well as Jay Z and Harry Belafonte’s war of words.

According to the billionaire mogul, Mr. Belafonte’s views of Jay Z’s social responsibility are rooted in a misunderstanding of different ways to protest:

There are multiple ways to protest. Jay uses his music, his life, his artfulness, his ability as a business man. That is his protest against all of the indignities that not only he has suffered but generations before him have suffered. Harry Belafonte’s mightve been going to Congress or marching and so forth.

Oprah also said she has heard Magna Carta Holy Grail and calls it fantastic.

The Butler will hit theaters on August 16th

K. Michelle Goes Through It All, So You Won’t Have To

Thank you, K. Michelle. For being the older sister who went through it all, just so we wouldn’t have to.

Luckily for us, she’s put it all on wax in her record label debut, Rebellious Soul (Atlantic).

But as her single “V.S.O.P” sits on the digital Top 10 R&B charts, it’s not just Michelle’s talent for singing that’s got her this far. Undoubtedly, it’s the Memphis native’s standout performance on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

She’s been called aggressive, overly sensitive and at times, unlikable, but at the end of every episode you still forgive and hug it out with her. Because that’s big sis.

And largely, that’s part of her appeal.

No matter how much real talk she delivers, she still reminds you that you two are more alike than different. In the first season, Michelle comes clean on her personal battle with domestic violence which immediately caused a stir amongst her fellow cast members and viewers.

And while women singers like Alicia Keys are currently ruling the charts with sweet tunes like “Fire We Make”, Michelle makes you think about the other reality: If you have the nerve to screw her over, she might literally set your house on fire.

Rebellious Soul is K. Michelle’s testament. Throughout are tales including hard truths on “My Life”, love making on the R. Kelly-assisted “Pay My Bills” and a vulgar interlude that includes lyrics we one day have to explain to the innocent ears of our sons and daughters.

K. Michelle’s debut album represents an underserved genre of R&B and her voice is much appreciated.

Over the last five years, K. Michelle bubbled under the radar releasing four popular mixtapes, built her loyal fan base and famously broke up with her boyfriend on the radio.

It was in 2009, though, where a breakout of sorts happened when Michelle posted a YouTube video singing an A Cappella version of an original track titled “Where They Do That At”. The next year, she appeared in a video alongside her mentor R. Kelly on a remix of “Echo”, a song off his Untitled album. In the video, R. Kelly prophetizes her future saying: “If she takes off on this, she’ll take off on something else. That’s just how it goes.”

She signed with Jive Records and released three singles including “Fallin” and “How Many Times”, both of which charted but never gained steam. She left the label.

In the summer of 2012, things started to take off. Michelle joined the cast of LHHATL television series. The opportunity, with millions watching, allowed her to share the story she’s been sharing for years. The early adopter fans loved her more, while newcomers joined in on the intriguing singer’s tales.

Today, Michelle garners comparisons to the most successful of the “blue collar blues” in this generation, Keyshia Cole. While the comparisons are expected, we must remember Cole’s first three albums went platinum or better, complete with Grammy nods.

What’s now left to see with K. Michelle is if people are willing to buy what she’s selling.

In a time where entertainers like Jay-Z and Miguel must utilize non-traditional platforms to popularize their music, K. Michelle (and Tamar Braxton) should be noted as a beacon of example for reality TV stars looking to share their music.

While Rebellious Soul stays true to what we know about K. Michelle, it doesn’t pack a huge load of ambition. It’s just the blues. But one thing is for sure, in a few years, we’ll still be talking about this album and every story that came with it.
