Bay Area Basketball Star Arrested For The Murder Of Lil Phat

(AllHipHop News) Decensae White was the leading scorer on San Francisco State University’s basketball team, the former roommate of NFL player Michael Crabtree at Texas Tech University, and the star of a viral video that eventually made it’s way onto SportsCenter. The 25-year-old Pacifica, California native is now a murder suspect as well.

NBC Bay Area is reporting that Smith has been extradited from San Mateo County to Fulton County, Georgia to face charges related to the murder of rapper Lil Phat (real name Melvin Vernell III).

Phat was killed in Sandy Springs, Georgia on June 7, 2012. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Houston called Phat’s killing “an assassination.”

White is one of five individuals who have been indicted on various charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, criminal participation in gang activity, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. One of the other suspects is an alleged member of the Russian mafia named Mani Chulayev.

According to Fulton County officials, White, Chulayev, DeAndre Washington, Gary Bradford, and Maurice Conner hired hit men to kill Phat over drug related issues.

White is believed to have moved to Georgia in 2009. He apparently was seeking to start a rap career in Atlanta.

White later returned to the Bay Area and enrolled at SFSU where he started on the school’s basketball team for the entire 2012-2013 season.  He also briefly attended Texas Tech and Santa Clara University.

“We are in total shock right now,” said Decensae’s father David White. “He is the most non-violent person I’ve ever known in my life. This is beyond anyone’s comprehension.”

White was booked on May 17 and will appear in a Fulton County court on May 31.

Kendrick Lamar Says "Molly Rap" Is Watering Down Hip Hop

(AllHipHop News) “Death To Molly,” are the final words on the screen at the end of Kendrick Lamar’s latest video for “B####, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” Now the West Coast emcee is explaining the meaning behind his metaphorical killing of the present drug of choice for many in Hip Hop.

“When everybody consciously now uses this term or this phrase and putting it in lyrics, it waters the culture down,” Kendrick tells MTV’s Sway in a recent interview. “So it’s really just time to move on.”

References to Molly (a powdered or crystallized form of MDMA) has seen a rise in rap songs in recent years. The drug has also seen greater usage among young people.

According to a 2012 study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2% of eighth graders, 5% of 10th graders, and 7% of 12 graders reported to have tried MDMA throughout their lifetime. Nearly 12% of respondents between the ages of 18-25 admitted to using the drug at one point.

Molly became part of a huge news story recently when rapper Rick Ross lost an endorsement deal with Reebok because of his controversial lyrics on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.”

On the track Ross raps, “Put Molly all in her champagne/she ain’t even know it/I took her home and I enjoyed that/she ain’t even know it.” The lyrics were viewed by some as supporting or glorifying date rape leading to protests from women’s groups.

“Sometimes you have the trends that’s not that cool,” says Kendrick speaking in general about the overuse of Molly mentions in rap music. “You may have certain artists portraying these trends and don’t really have that lifestyle and then it gives off the wrong thing. And it becomes kinda corny after a while.”

Kendrick’s ceremonial burial of the party drug is his way of pushing the culture forward past the “Molly Era.”

J Cole's 'Born Sinner' Will Feature TLC But No Other Rappers

(AllHipHop News) After his Miguel assisted single, “Power Trip,” reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100, J Cole is now revealing another superstar R&B act will also be on his upcoming album. While speaking with Charlie Sloth on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Cole revealed that he tapped 1990’s girl group TLC to add vocals to Born Sinner, but don’t expect to hear any guest verses from any other emcees.

“I got TLC on the album. T-Boz and Chilli. It’s crazy,” said Cole. “Nobody’s rapping on the album other than me.”

The Roc Nation rapper recently decided to move up the release date of Born Sinner one week to compete against Kanye West’s new album dropping the same day.

“I think it’s awesome,” says Cole on the heiress joining Lil Wayne’s label. “It’s just gonna make for great jokes and great entertainment for some reason.”

When asked if he would collaborate with Hilton, Cole responded, “Never.”

Born Sinner is scheduled for release June 18th.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Will Adidas Drop The Racist?

With all the rappers that are getting wasted off off controversial statements, there is increased speculation that this dude Sergio Garcia may get dropped from adidas. Adidas can thank African Americans for saving the brand at one point. But, you gotta wonder what they think of us considering just a year or so ago, they had the “slave shoe,” which was never released. Here is a recap from ESPN.

The verbal sparring between Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods continued Wednesday after Woods tweeted back at Garcia in response to comments made by Garcia that could be perceived as a racial reference aimed at the world’s No. 1 player.

On Wednesday morning, Tiger tweeted this: “The comment that was made wasn’t silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate.

“I’m confident that there is real regret that the remark was made.

“The Players ended nearly two weeks ago and it’s long past time to move on and talk about golf.”

Garcia, who later issued an apology, took issue with Woods for what he viewed as a breach of golf course etiquette during the third round of The Players Championship two weeks ago, was asked in jest at a European Tour function if he would be inviting Woods to dinner during next month’s U.S. Open.
Richard Heathcote/Getty ImagesSergio Garcia (left) was in a joking mood at the European Tour awards dinner Tuesday night in England, where he shared the stage with Luke Donald and Nicolas Colsaerts, then later made a controversial remark about Tiger Woods.

“We’ll have him ’round every night,” Garcia said, according to multiple media reports. “We will serve fried chicken.”
“Fried chicken” references are associated with racial stereotypes of African-Americans. A similar comment got Fuzzy Zoeller in trouble following the 1997 Masters, when he quipped that fried chicken would be served at the following year’s champions’ dinner, which Woods would host as defending champion.
According to media reports, Garcia left the European Tour awards dinner Tuesday night at the BMW PGA Championship in Virginia Water, England, before he could be questioned. He later issued a statement through the European Tour.
“I apologize for any offense that may have been caused by my comment on stage during the European Tour Players’ Awards dinner,” Garcia said. “I answered a question that was clearly made towards me as a joke with a silly remark, but in no way was the comment meant in a racist manner.”

Garcia addressed the media on Wednesday in England and apologized again, saying “my answer was totally stupid and out of place. I feel sick about it.”

OHHHH…he’s sick after he says it. FOH!
