Lil Jon Announces Partnership With Zumba to create “Zumba Nightclub” Tour

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper Lil Jon is partnering with Zumba Fitness to create a new nightclub tour titled “Zumba Nightclub Series.”

According to reps for Zumba Fitness, the outing will combine the party atmosphere of the Zumba dance class, with Lil Jon’s turntable antics, to hype up the experience.

Lil Jon will be joined by celebrity Zumba instructor Gina Grant, who will lead the dance fitness class.

“Fitness and health are important to me, and Zumba fans hit me up all the time tellin’ me how my songs and voice motivate them to get them through their workout,” Lil Jon told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “Now we’re helping to bring the Zumba experience to the nightclub scene. I’m excited to DJ this tour and give Zumba fans a fitness party they’ll never forget!”

The goal of the new tour with Lil Jon and Gina Grant is to attract new users to the Zumba Fitness program, in a nontraditional work out atmosphere that will include club lighting, special-effects and a cutting edge sound system.

“I love being a Zumba instructor because my goal is to get people to move and be active in a fun way,” said Gina Grant. “This nightclub series is such an incredible opportunity to get the world to dance and be healthy. The nightclub is the perfect venue for this and Lil Jon’s DJ skills will light up the room with energy!”

Lil Jon recorded a new song titled “Work” specifically for Zumba Fitness, which debuted earlier this month at a conference in Los Angeles, where over 3,000 instructors attended.

The “Zumba Nightclub Series” will start April 9 in Boston, Massachusetts and conclude April 13 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hip-Hop’s Dirty Secrets: Daddy-O on Foxy Brown, Coast Beef and Labels Ruining Artists

As a co-founder of Stetsasonic,  one of Hip-Hop’s first groups, Daddy-O, has witnessed a lot over time in the music biz. Today, he still has his hands in artist development, internet strategy, public speaking, as well as being a celebrity DJ. As a producer, Daddy-O was responsible for Mary J. Blige’s “Real Love” remix, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Higher Ground” remix, plus many more. Daddy-O has decided to share exclusively with AllHipHop what he has seen since he started as an artist in the late 70’s. From Lil Kim and Foxy, the East/West Coast beef, to behind the doors of labels, he speaks on it all.

Labels Really Do Stop Artists’ Careers
Never leaving the mic, but putting it aside to help those with Hip-Hop dreams similar to his, Daddy – O took on the executive role and was shocked by what he saw.

“I went to work for labels to prove the critics wrong, but they were actually right. I wanted to see how things really went down behind closed doors. When I got to MCA/Universal I signed an artist and had to literally get MCA to take the advance back. I wanted the money to be given back because they were messing with his career. I felt they didn’t understand what they were dealing with.”

There Wasn’t a Real East/West Coast Beef
Daddy-O has no idea where the beef came from because he always saw Tupac and Biggie joined at the hip.

“The first time I saw Pac he was coming down Fulton Street with Big and Cease, and all of them. I asked who was that and was informed it was Tupac, I say Digital Underground Tupac? I’m told it was. I also recall, because I was there, that the first time Pac was shot Biggie didn’t have anything to do with it.”

Foxy Brown Was Jealous Of Lil Kim
Daddy – O feels it was clear that Foxy Brown wanted what Kim had around her. He could see that anytime he worked with, or were around the two of them.

“Kim and Foxy both started in my home. I knew Foxy’s management, and Junior Mafia were pretty much created in my basement. Foxy wanted that type of team Kim had. That solid unit. I feel that Foxy Brown is a better rapper of the two though.”

Being in a group isn’t always easy. It presents different challenges. Learning to accept that comes with making music.

“They didn’t always agree with Delite and me, the founders of the group. The hardest part about it, and also the dopest part, is so many people being involved. You come up with an idea and other members doubt it. But that’s what makes it work, because you figure out how to work together.”

Heavy Police Attention Scheduled For 50 Cent Afterparty

(AllHipHop News) The owner of the Connecticut nightclub Club Sinergee has spoken with local police officials multiple times in the past week, to add extra officers to 50 Cent’s March 1 party.

In order to ensure the guests orderly exits at the conclusion of the party, club owner Michael Carusone has scheduled eight to 10 officers to be outside the club, in addition to the private security guards in the club.

The venue holds roughly 700 people and the extra police force is a precautionary measure to handle any excessive crowding outside of people who are denied admission.

This event is the after party for ESPN’s Friday Night Fights event at Foxwood Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

50 Cent’s new boxing promotion company SMS Promotion is collaborating with DiBella Entertainment for the fight, which will begin at 7pm. Club Sinergee plans to broadcast the fights and await the G-Unit general’s arrival after the conclusion of the final fight.

Carusone says VIP passes  are still available and people can call (203) 440-2750 for reservations.

50 Cent started the new boxing venture in November of 2012 and has already had to handle a high profile scandal.

In a recent interview with the New York Daily News, Mr. Jackson denied that one of his boxers, Yuriorkis Gamboa, was a customer of the Miami anti-aging clinic, Biogenesis, which is accused of selling performance enhancing drugs.

Gamboa’s name appeared on the questionable clinic’s records, a fact that 50 Cent attributes to Gamboa being an unlucky bystander of the embattled rapper’s perceived reputation:

“The additional publicity and notoriety that Gamboa has received from being in connection to me — the timing of it makes me feel like that’s a part of it, of why he would actually be mentioned at that point.”

Hip-Hop Mogul Proposes “Guns For Greatness” Program Featuring Tickets To Beyoncé & Jay-Z Concerts

(AllHipHop News) Gun violence has become a major social and political issue recently, and now one high-profile Hip-Hop executive is proposing a plan to encourage young people to trade in their firearms for mentorships and concert tickets.

The New York Daily News is reporting that hugely successful artist manager and president of Family Tree Entertainment, Michael “Blue” Williams, sent a letter to the New York Police Department pitching the idea for “Guns For Greatness.” If approved by NYC Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, William’s program will be the city’s first private sector gun buyback initiative.

“We want to get as many guns off the streets, and if this works, we’d like to support it,” Kelly told the Daily News.

After meeting with top brass at NYPD last week, Williams wrote an open letter addressed to Kelly. The letter was co-signed by Richard Buery (President and CEO of the Children’s Aid Society),  L. Londell McMillan (publisher of The Source), and former federal prosecutor Kenneth Thompson. It read in part:

This program aims to provide young people with an opportunity to receive guidance and inspiration from committed mentors, an important option that will enable them to experience possibilities other than a life surrounded by gun violence and unnecessary shootings and killing.

One way Williams hopes to help get the guns off the streets is by offering tickets to see superstars like Beyoncé and Jay-Z at their next New York concerts.

“The Beyoncé show is coming to Brooklyn; the Jay-Z show is coming to Yankee Stadium. Our goal is to reach out to individuals who are in my industry, in my world and who I have an association with and get their support,” said Williams.

Williams has a long history working in the music business. He has managed Hip-Hop heavyweights like OutKast, Cee-lo Green, and Scarface. He started his managerial career at Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit, and worked at both Def Jam and LaFace Records. He was also a business partner of the late Chris Lighty.

[ALSO READ: BREAKING NEWS: Sources: Chris Lighty Dead]

It was Lighty’s death last August as the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot and his own recent gun charge that inspired Williams to propose “Guns For Greatness.”

“It was just sort of like a pushing point,” Williams said. “It eventually convinced me that one person can make a difference if they believe in something.

Williams says he has already raised $75,000 for “GFG” with the goal of reaching $100,000.

New York has had a city-run handgun buyback program in place for years. With participants receiving up to $200 for each firearm the costs for such a deal can be expensive for taxpayers. Similar programs in San Francisco ran out of money. William’s privatized “Guns For Greatness” could be a financial remedy for cash-strapped city governments.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Karrine Steffans Reveals What Lil Wayne Is Up To!

Lil Wayne and Karrine are BACK!

Wayne has been under attack and finally some good news for him.

Not a whole lot to report, but basically she is with Wayne in the studio and pushing that he’s WORKING! In one pic, she said “Writing. No paper. No pen. No fukking iPhone. #martian” MAnnnnnnnn…some people need to write. I have very little to say about this. But, I am going to admit to something. My feelings to Karrine are easing up. I was once pretty hostile towards her, but now…she ain’t so bad. I think she was just doing what she had to do with that book, which is all that most of us do. Seems like she and Wayne got something special. Her instagram account says a lot. Here is something she said about her “loves,” which I imagine includes Wayne.

“No man is an island and no one is independent. We are affected by those we love. Some more than others. I thank God for my loves and for what they have taught me. I love being determined, enhanced, and even diminished by those loves. Shows I’m alive. I’m human and I’m still here. Thank The Lord for that.”

Here is the pic.

Unfortunately….good news for Weezy is bad news for the family of Emmett Till. Wayne said sorry to Lebron James and not them. That Illuminati is STRONG ARM STEADY WITH IT! At least he has a girl that he loves.

‘Album of the Year’ Folk Band Mumford & Sons To Do Hip-Hop Album

(AllHipHop News) Fresh off defeating Hip-Hop’s golden boy Frank Ocean’s masterful Channel Orange for “Album of the Year” at the 2013 Grammy Awards the English folk band wants to follow up 2012’s megahit Babel with different genre influences.

“We really want to rap,”  lead vocalist Marcus Mumford tells Rolling Stone in a recent interview “We’ve just got so much to say – saying it through a melody doesn’t really work for me.” The West London collective are working on their third album and wants to “do something that’s a cousin” to the indie folk/bluegrass sound that populated their first two LPs according to Mumford.

The band have been taking this idea more seriously than a simple pet project with the band admitting to rapping during practice sessions and even consulting a Hip Hop demigod for guidance.

“We’ve been talking with Jay-Z about it, you know. It’s gonna be a fresh experience for our band,” Mumford said.

Babel was recorded in a little over a year and the band expects a longer process for the new album. “It might take a few more years than it took to make Babel.”It might take a few more years than it took to make Babel,” says band member Winston Marshall.

Philly Loves J Dilla: Questlove Spins J Dilla Classics and Reworked Beats

Last night Questlove from the legendary The Roots crew honored the late J Dilla with a DJ set.  Following up epic sets from DJ Rich Medina and Mike Nyce, Questlove ran through a host of J Dilla’s greatest hits, as painters Ameerah, K Art and Chuck Style created visuals of J Dilla himself.

In addition to the DJing and painting, there was also a raffle for a poster honoring J Dilla with all proceeds being donated to the Lupus Foundation of America.

From his work with Slum Village to his music with The Pharcyde’sLabcabincalifornia, to A Tribe Called Quest’s Beats, Rhymes and Life to Common’s Like Water for Chocolate, J Dilla was remembered by Philly in his greatest light.

As video from Visualeyz flashed across the screen and Yameen Allworld hosted, a packed house enjoyed Questlove’s set that drew from a vault of more than 100 songs that The Roots have been working on during their lunch breaks on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show.

“Two years ago we decided to do ‘Lunch with Dilla Hour’ which is like knock off like 3 or 4 Dilla joints a day or like 9 to 12 tracks a week.  So all these beats that you are listening to are all beats that J Dilla has made and the Roots have done over again. I know you heard some of this s### on YouTube, but this is a passion project, this s### aint about putting out records. This is how we spend our lunch hour,” Questlove told a sold out crowd at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia.

EXCLUSIVE: Fiend Prepping “Lil’ Ghetto Boy” Project; Discusses Rebirth With Jet Life Crew

(AllHipHop News) This week, New Orleans rapper Fiend aka “International Jones,” spoke with AllHipHop.com about his upcoming project Lil’ Ghetto Boy, set to be released on March 4.

While many Hip-Hop fans remember Fiend from his Billboard chart topping albums Street Life and Theres’s One in Every Family, released on Master P’s No Limit Records, over the last few years, Fiend has developed whole new generation of fans with Curren$y’s Jet Life family.

Performing with the Jet Life crew at as many as 60 tour dates a year, Fiend is enjoying the success of sold out shows and fans that always come with “gifts” to roll up.

“I’ve been enjoying it, you know I had a chance to experiment and do something different under the name of International Jones. To get on a tour, and connect with Hip-Hop fans at a different age group, you know? That is an honor,” Fiend told AllHipHop.com

[ALSO WATCH: Fiend “Blue White and Red” (Video Premiere)]

“A person nowadays between the ages of 13 and whatever, they don’t have the patience for too much of nothing. And these kids, these Jet Life fans and these Taylor Gang fans I got a chance to connect to people that didn’t know me and re-connect with people that knew me with No Limit and my own label and the Ruff Ryder label and whatever I did,” he said.

But now Fiend has something new for fans called Lil’ Ghetto Boy, a project  based on the “perspective of little ghetto boys.”  The album that kicks off with the release of his new video, “Blue, White, Red”

“It’s not the red, white and blue; it’s the blue, white and red,” International Jones explained of the little ghetto boy’s perspective. “Man this gotta be the best video I’ve done up to date. This video represents Congo Square in rap form. I feel like I’m somewhat the first of my kind to do whats happening in this video and whats going on and I hope it can just make everyone just add some coolness to this. Hip-Hop shall live on.”
