Hip-Hop Rumors: V-Nasty Turns On Kreayshawn! Its UGLY!

Oh SNAP! I never thought his would happened to these two chicks! They found solidarity in the color of their skin as the White Girl Mob. But apparently that is no more! Seems like something happened between V-Nasty and KreyKrey! I’m going to go out on a limb and think that the affiliation with V got to be too much for Kreayshawn and she had to distance herself from the N-word slang chief. I know it was HOT for her. Secondly, I think that Kreayshawn flopped and there was no longer a reason to stand next to her, because she’s not “winning” anymore. Thoughts? Some of the tweets are below. By the way, Kreayshawn has not commented. She was talking about her abs were tight and Santa being a fan of hers.

Screen-Shot-2012-12-03-at-8.34.24-PM

Later V did a lot of RTing and whatever of people that fed into the BS. But, Kreayshawn had nothing to say other than she’s done her best to help people.

Breeding Ground Spotlight: IAMSU! (@Iamsu)

It’s two days before Thanksgiving and Bay Area rapper, IAMSU! is in New York City with much to be thankful for. He recently celebrated his 23rd birthday, produced on Wiz Khalifa’s Cabin Fever 2, released a new mixtape, $uzy 6 $peed, and performed with his idol, Snoop Dogg. And, before he returns to the West Coast, he is scheduled for studio sessions, label meetings and interviews. We meet at a pizza parlor in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, where he arrives with his publicist – exuding the kind of fresh energy only a creative under 25 could embody. The Richmond, CA, native is double-threat and is determined to build on the buzz he has already has in the production and artistry lanes.

AllHipHop.com: What prompted your interest in producing and rapping?

Iamsu!: My aunt had a production studio when I was growing up, we would record on a mixer when I was really young and that’s where I made my first beat. She has always supported my dreams in music. I remember one time I was on my way to Great America and I heard 2Pac & Snoop Dogg “2 of Amerikaz’s Most Wanted (Gangsta Party),” on the radio and that was the first time I remember wanting to rap.

AllHipHop.com: When did rapping go from a strong interest to a passion?

Iamsu!: I got involved in Youth Radio, a youth organization based in Oakland. They showed me how to make beats on Protools, and it was there I honed my craft and began to take music seriously.

AllHipHop.com: You’ve become known primarily as a producer. What was your breakout moment?

Iamsu!: I was making beats for hella artists in the area, and I got my first song on the radio when I was 16.

AllHipHop.com: What took you from generating local buzz in The Bay Area to generating a name for yourself on a national scale?

Iamsu!: That happened in 2010 when the “Up” record came out. That song was in every club in The Bay, YG did a remix to it and then it blew up in L.A. Even 50 cent, T.I., Young Jeezy, and Trey Songz got on it. That took our production team, The Invasion (myself and P-Lo), to the next level. It would later become the number two song in the country.

AllHipHop.com: Let’s talk Heartbreak Gang, who are they and what do they mean to you personally and musically?

Iamsu!: Heartbreak Gang is made up of myself and a bunch of my really good friends and with or without music we would be friends. We all got to know each other in high school; we’re all into fashion and making beats, so coming together made sense.

Oftentimes, rappers have crews, as you do with the Heartbreak Gang, as a collective what makes your crew different?

Iamsu!: A majority of us are producers, we have a bunch of talented rappers and I even have a singer named Rossi, a blogger and business development team – everyone is exceptionally talented. We don’t necessarily need to be in a group because everyone can hold their own, but it makes it that much more doper that we’re all in it together.

AllHipHop.com: From a solo standpoint what do you feel like you bring that’s different to the Hip-Hop?

Iamsu!: I bring a new and original perspective. It’s been a long time since someone from The Bay Area has been at the forefront. Where I am from is very diverse, people are open-minded, and through my music, I want to preach the message of being yourself and accepting of others.

AllHipHop.com: Why do you think celebrating individuality is so important?

Iamsu!: Coming up, I was always different because my mom exposed me to all different type of things, so people never understood where I was coming from. I know there are a lot of people who are going through the same thing, so the message in my music is about being you and accepting different cultures.

Iamsu!

AllHipHop.com: What’s the meaning behind the title of your mixtape, $uzy 6 $peed?

Iamsu!: [Laughs] I call myself Suzy and in The Bay when you rap well, they say you’re “gassing”. So I compared myself to a six speed automobile. It also relates to the music because a lot of the songs are high energy. My older work was more self-reflective and about my experiences, but with $uzy 6 $peed, I’m trying to inspire people with the raw, high energy.

AllHipHop.com: Does your mixtape provide a look into what’s happening culturally in The Bay?

Iamsu!: Yes, its like a time capsule of the Renaissance Resurgence, which is a movement made of up a bunch of young artists in The Bay who do everything from design clothing to directing visuals.

AllHipHop.com: You recently produced “Bout Me” on Cabin Fever 2, how did this collaboration between you and Wiz Khalifa come about?

Iamsu!: P-Lo and I ended up in the studio with him during the weekend of the “VMAs”, and we played him a bunch of beats. As soon as he heard the record that became “Bout Me,” he said: “Blow that sh*t up!” He’s also featured on my mixtape. I’m a big fan of his, and he is definitely an influence of mine.

AllHipHop.com: What’s you guys’ relationship like?

Iamsu!: It’s good. He’s a really cool and humble dude. It’s refreshing to meet someone with that much success who has remained down to earth. And, he gave me a lot of advice. He was telling we [Heartbreak Gang] reminded him of Taylor Gang when they were first starting out.

AllHipHop.com: You’ve credited Snoop Dogg as your idol, in what ways has he influenced you?

Iamsu!: I’ve always been a fan of his whole style. I have all of his CDs. And, to see another tall rapper from California made me confident about what I could accomplish. I met him one time at Powerhouse in Los Angeles, he brought E-40 and I out to perform “Function”. That was a life-changing experience.

AllHipHop.com: Now that you’ve generated buzz as a rapper and producer, where do you see yourself going forward?

Iamsu!: I want to introduce the whole Heartbreak Gang and continue establish that as a brand. I definitely want to dip into other aspects of art and continue to produce for other people.

The Gift of the Curse: Rap's Best Songs with Curses in the Title

Perhaps more than any other genre of music, Hip-Hop has truly embraced Freedom of Speech. The use of explicit language has pushed buttons, both literally and figuratively, over the years.

NBC’s popular series, “The Voice”, continues tonight (December 3), as the top six contestants perform in the quarterfinals. Interestingly enough, one of the show’s coaches, Cee Lo Green, became a household name because of his hit song, “F*ck You.” Yet another coach, Pop superstar Christina Aguilera, openly objected to a contestant’s performance of “99 Problems” earlier this year.

While the argument may always rage on in the mainstream between what is and is not acceptable to say (the late, great Heavy D would suggest that you can “kick a verse but don’t curse”), Hip-Hop has always encouraged free expression. And just because there are bad words, it doesn’t mean it isn’t a good song.

So, f*ck it! AllHipHop.com has come up with a list of outstanding “bad” records that have profanity in the title. But to be clear, and to paraphrase Run-D.M.C. – it’s “not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good”:

8). “The B*tch in Yoo” by Common: The song was a surprise when it was released.  It was a response to Westside Connection’s “Westside Slaughterhouse” diss, and conscious rapper Common not only defended himself, but also spit rhymes against the Left Coast collective.  Fortunately, this beef was squashed when Minister Farrakhan held a conference after the deaths of 2Pac and Biggie.

2Pac7). “Wonda Why They Call U B*tch” by 2Pac: The majority of All Eyez on Me is gangsta rap, but moments of Pac’s emotional and conscious sides do surface on the double album. And, “Wonda Why They Call U B*tch” is such an example.  On the record, 2Pac steers young ladies away from decisions that would jeopardize their reputations and their safety.

6). “Me & My B*tch” by The Notorious B.I.G.: Track 12 on Biggie’s debut paints a detailed portrait of love and loyalty in the world of hustling.  It’s a great a record and one of the reasons Biggie is still acknowledged to this day as one Hip-Hop’s most powerful MCs. “And if you don’t know, now you know.”

5). “Lick the Balls” by Slick Rick: There is clearly not a curse word in the title, but it also clearly can’t be played on public airwaves – so it still counts. Rick is often recognized for his ability to put variety in his music in terms of content, but this shows his variety of flow as well with the quick delivery. And so, boo to everyone who booed him at the Nets game recently.

4). “F*ck You” by Cee Lo Green: Motown definitely had an influence here, but Cee Lo is a genre-bending artist and that worked to his cee-lo-green-twadvantage. Because of the way he combined Soul with Pop, never has an insult sounded so happy. Cee Lo’s high vocals made for a catchy chorus and, rightfully so, the song was a critical and commercial smash.

3). “Just Don’t Give a F*ck” by Eminem: When Em said, “I’m Nicer than Pete, but I’m on a Serch to crush a Milkbone/I’m Everlast-ing, I melt Vanilla Ice like silicone,” he separated himself from inevitable comparisons before anyone else could make them. But then there’s the line about raping the women’s swim team. The song is skillful, smart, and sick all at once.

2). “Back That Azz Up” by Juvenile: Praising the female posterior and rapping dirty is nothing groundbreaking in Hip-Hop. The great thing about this record, though, is the beat (mad props to producer Mannie Fresh). The combination of the strings and drums bring together classical music with 808 bass, which results in the best music strippers have ever shaken their stuff to.

1). “F*ck Tha Police” by N.W.A: This song was met with so much controversy that it even prompted the F.B.I. to write a letter accusing the group of promoting “violence against and disrespect” toward law enforcement. In the end, N.W.A were stars, and the possibilities for the sound of popular music changed forever. Oh, and the song’s really f*ckin’ good, too.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Tyga A "Busta"? Vintage Footage Shows Him Blowing His Own Cover

In the words of Eazy E, “claiming my city, but you ain’t from Compton!” YMCMB artist Tyga claims that he’s from Compton, but according to his very own admission, he’s from the valley, and his mom drove a Range Rover while he was growing up. That ain’t ‘hood! This all came to light in a recent video TMZ got it’s hands on from a failed MTV pilot called “Bustas” that Tyga was a contestant on.

The show was focused on wannabe-rappers who competed against each other in ridiculous games like “Guess the Rapper By His Grill” and “Is This a Real Rolex?”

Check out Tyga blowing his own cover and relinquishing any street credibility he’s ever had in the video below:

Hip-Hop Rumors: More Beef For Rick Ross! And Jay-Z! And Rihanna!

Man! A dude named Mark Dice comes along to join the Rick Ross diss train. I’m a bit curious why all these people are coming out against stuff Rick Ross said in 2010. I’m all for people having their own views and opinions, but why so late? Fishing for YouTube views on all those pre-roll ads? Just a thought. Dice pretty much goes after everybody. At the end of the page is another video of him going after Jay-Z. For the record, there’s a LOT of slander and libel in these videos and stuff that’s simply not true.

When ODB called himself Big Baby Jesus, I didn’t think it was so bad. Maybe, that’s because Ol Dirty was such a lovable, crazy dude. Fast forward like a decade and we are here in 2012, its not so easy to get away with this idea in any real way. Take the homey King Jesus for example. He queries, “Why do you have ME hanging around your neck?” Dude busts out a full fledged off-the-top freestyle to the instrumental to “BMF.” WHEW!

Here is Dicey going at Jay-Z and Rihanna. He’s got some goodies here! Whew-Weeeee!

Are these people crazy or just far more aware than the masses?

I’m not even posting the newest GD video! They are coming for Rick Ross like crazy!!!!! Where is Gunplay when you need him!?!

Dallas Police Lieutenant "Lucille Baller" Suspended Over Gangsta Rap Alter Ego

(AllHipHop News) A Police Lieutenant with the Dallas Police Department has been placed on administrative leave, as an investigation ensues over her alter ego as a gangster rapper.

Police Lieutenant Regina Smith oversaw two investigative units for the Dallas Police Department.

But her job is now in jeopardy, after videos of Lieutenant Smith surfaced on YouTube rapping as “Lucille Baller,” wearing wigs, pointing guns and wearing short skirts.

Lieutenant Smith also delivered several ominous threats in the lyrics of her songs, which feature samples of “The Lucille Ball Show” and contain explicit language.

According to local news reports, police are concerned because of the contents of Lieutenant Smith’s lyrics, since she lost her husband in the line of duty in 2009.

“You know what I do to somebody who tries to take advantage of me?” Lucille Baller said in one of the clips. “You see this bullet right here? I’ll stick it from they rooter to they tooter and bring it out.”

Album Review: Freeway's "Diamond In The Ruff"

We’ve already discussed how Freeway’s gotten to this point, and we’ve addressed how consistent he seems to be on the music front. With Diamond In The Ruff, he could’ve easily decided to mail it in yet again, but instead he puts out arguably his best project since Stimulus Package, the collaboration LP with Jake One. Freeway continues to crank out well-developed albums that show you why he’s one of the best from Philly, and armed with quality features and production he reinforces that point quite easily.

From the outset of Diamond, Freeway doesn’t waste any time combining his flows and dropping messages within his lines alongside the sultry voice of Marsha Ambrosius on “Right Back”, and the vibe flows well into the following tracks with Vivian Green (“Greatness”) and the now-obligatory producer collaboration with the previously referenced Jake One (“The Thirst”). Interestingly, although the latter seems to borrow a line or two from Kendrick Lamar’s “I’m Dying Of Thirst” in its hook, the content, vibe, and overall flow of the song couldn’t be more different as Freeway takes on the aspect of being thirsty for success.

Strong features from the aforementioned singers, along with Music Soulchild, Nikki Jean, and others truly add to the replay value of the project, especially when placed alongside a few tracks that has Freeway stepping out of his comfort zone to exercise lyrically. “No Doubt”, although not a bad song, doesn’t seem to fit well in the album’s sequencing at all, but in contrast the songs surrounding it works perfectly (this could be due to the song being dated; the linked teaser clip was released in April of 2011). Thankfully, it’s the only real song that’s plunked in without any rhyme or reason; even the bounce-inducing “Numbers” fits better within the arrangement, and the verse from Neef Buck helps as well.

In addition to the great cast ensemble, the album’s chocked full of highlights that stand on their own. The Just Blaze-produced “Early” is the first time the duo have linked in quite a while, and Freeway falls right back into the groove as if nothing had been wrong all of these years. “Ghetto Streets” takes a different approach, teaming Freeway’s rhyme scheme explaining the street narrative with an unorthodox, but soulful background full of vocals and instrumentals that sound straight out of the 70s. Granted, it’s completely different from anything else on the album, but it succeeds.

Again, aside from those issues and the lackluster appearance from Wale on “True”, it’s hard to argue against the final product. Freeway’s been consistent, and he’s saved some of his best music of the year for Diamond In The Ruff. With great production from Jake One, Mike Jerz, and more, alongside the cameo appearances cited above, this is a dope play from start to finish. Freeway’s underrated, and he knows it; hopefully that changes soon, since there’s very few that are guaranteed to deliver musically like he is right now.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is There A Hip-Hop Gay Wedding On The Way? Frank Ocean Contemplating Marriage?

Hmmm, now I don’t know for sure if this tweet is about Willy or gay marriage, but it sure does seem like it is. No word on whether or not this is the guy that Frank sings about in his album, Channel Orange, but Willy seems to already be a muse in Frank’s life. Frank has not been shy about his alleged relationship with Willy, and has already posted tons of photos of the two of them on his Twitter page, as well as brought him to a few events. Below are a few photos of the two at the GQ event below:

Good luck to the two. Will this be the first Hip-Hop and R&B gay wedding? Will Kanye and Jay-Z attend? So many questions!

Hip-Hop Rumors: Jaden Smith Goes Ballistic On Instagram!

You can never fully know if somebody’s Instagram is their own, but it seems to. Looks like the son of Will and Jada went OFF on somebody. But, nobody really knows why? I always took Jaden to be a bit of a softie myself. Apparently, that’s not the case…

I’m not at liberty to repeat what he said, but it included him telling a female to drink certain bodily fluid. The rant was so out of line with dude, people actually think he may have been hacked. Not, the fake industry hacked, really hacked!

Anyway, the girl that he cussed out so terribly actually fell all the way back and said, “Let me shut up.” So, this leads me to believe she may have come all the way out of pocket somewhere. I didn’t bother to do the research on this, because it really seems stupid.
