Meek Mill’s had a long, winding road to get to this point in his career, from jail and his previous collaborations with Dave Patten, to linking with Rick Ross and becoming the standout on the (mostly) star-filled MMG roster that we know today. Thankfully for him and his fans, Dreams and Nightmares is here after after it’s own variety of delays, and it’s a strong indicator that the formula Rick Ross and his team has tapped into is still effective.
If you’re a fan of Meek’s aggressive take on music, then you know exactly what to expect; everything from Meek is presented from a hood angle, but he surprisingly has a couple of fresh takes dropped throughout the playlist. “Traumatized” has him reminiscing over the pain his mother went through, and making a vow to kill the man who murdered his father, while “Tony Story Pt. 2” has him resuming the murderous street narrative from his acclaimed Dreamchasers mixtape. The producer-rapper tandem of Cardiak and Meek is revived on “Polo & Shell Tops”, as well as his connection with Tone the Beat Bully on the hard-hitting title track (“Dreams and Nightmares”).
STREAM: “Polo & Shell Tops”
Unfortunately, the rest of the album suffers from the same topics we’ve heard from Meek in the past. Ross and Meek flaunt over “Believe It”, which has the same sonic formula of “Black Magic” and “Tupac Back”, while even the collaborations with Nas and John Legend (“Maybach Curtains”) sound like somewhat recycled versions of the illustrious beats that MMG’s used in the past. It’s a formulaic approach at times to say the least (all the way down to the Ashanti Floyd and Kane Beatz produced “Lay Up”, featuring Trey Songz, Wale, and Ross), but it’s not necessarily a bad thing; some of us were just expecting more this time around.
Even with that eerie musical feeling of déjà vu, Meek Mill’s Dreams and Nightmares still includes a few gems that make it worth playing and supporting. Meek’s been one of the hardest working artists in the past year, and it’s well-deserved that he gets his time to shine on the mainstream level. Even though the album doesn’t flow as well as his other projects in comparison, it’s still armed with top-notch features and production that will undoubtedly help him to make noise on radios near you (and that’s putting it lightly).

(AllHipHop News) As Hurricane Sandy made contact with land yesterday, power across the East Coast shut down leaving more than 6.5 million people without power, 16 dead in the United States and 65 dead in the Caribbean.
With a path of destruction from South Carolina to Maine, some are calling this one of the biggest hurricanes ever to hit the United States.
New York City is struggling to recover from the damage as an explosion at the Con Ed Plant, at East 14th and FDR in New York City cut power to most of New York City. (Explosion at 3:06 )
Early reports estimate that the East Coast alone has suffered an estimated 20 billion dollars of damage not to mention the closing the New York Stock Exchange for the first time since 1985.
New York Metro Transit Authority spokesman Kevin Ortiz said, “The New York City subway system is 108 years old, but it has never faced a disaster as devastating as what we experienced last night. Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on our entire transportation system, in every borough and county of the region.”
Haiti has already accounted for 51 deaths thus far, as the storm hit on Sunday, but it is still early and the count is expected to unfortunately increase as rubble and debris are removed.
BSM (Brick Squad Monopoly) rapper Haitian Fresh Tweeted his thoughts for his native country, “#pray for Haiti and everyone on east coast #sandy”
“In new york having a storm party. Watching movies. Sandy please say bye!!!” Roc Nation artist Rita Ora Tweeted. “I HATE SANDY.”
“F**k #Sandy F**k a leak it’s #MeekWeek Pre-Order #DreamsAndNightmares NOW https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/dreams-nightmares-deluxe-version/id564834273 … …” Meek Mill Tweeted with his album releasing today.
“and i know them “Sandy” pics gotta be fake … please somebody tell me those are fake,” Taylor Gang producer Cardo Tweeted.
Legendary West Coast Rapper Ice-T tracked the whole storm from his New York City apartment.
Rapper Sean Price made a humorous video of him reporting live from the belly of Hurricane
“Ice ‘Storm Watch Central’ I’ve got a perfect view. Winds are picking up. #SANDY,” Ice T said.
Check out some of the shocking photos we’ve found online from Sandy’s wrath, feel free to comment on your experiences below and be safe out there!!!

(AllHipHop News) Detroit rapper Eminem is currently in the recording studio working on his eighth solo album. Fans of the rapper were excited over the weekend, when Eminem’s official online store debuted a new hat, which many believe offers up a cryptic message regarding a new album. The hat features the Detroit Tigers’ logo reworked into an “E,” for Eminem. But it’s the dates on the side of the hat, which has fans talking. The side of the baseball cap is embroidered with the years that significant Eminem albums were released, from 1996 until 2013, leading many to speculate that a new album is due in stores next year.
Long Island, New York rapper Keith Murray is working on a new album of material. Before his next album drops, Keith Murray will release a new mixtape titled Lord of the Metaphor. The first single from Keith’s upcoming mixtape is titled La, La, La, which was released over the weekend. The mixtape and untitled album will be Keith Murray’s first release since 2008’s album Intellectual Violence. No further details on the Lord of the Metaphor mixtape or the untitled album were available as of press time. Check out the single “La, La, La” by clicking here.
Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill may have just released his debut album Dreams & Nightmares, but he’s already setting his sights on the future. At the annual powerhouse concert in Philadelphia on Friday (October 26), Meek announced he’s launching a new record label. The rapper is heading up the Dream Chasers imprint, which already has several prominent Philadelphia rapper/producers signed to the label. During Power 99 FM’s Power House concert, Meek Mill announced that producer Jahlil Beats, rapper Goldie, female rapper Lee Mazin and producer Louie V Gutta were signed to the Dream Chasers label. Meek Mill is currently an artist on Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, which is distributed by Warner Bros Records.
Hip-Hop was in the Halloween spirit early this year, as many artists and socialites showed off their costumes at Halloween parties across the U.S. over the weekend!
Many of Hip-Hop’s top couples made it a date night and stepped out in their Halloween best alongside their better halves. Check out Diddy, who was dressed as Prince, and Cassie, who made a beautiful Cleopatra:
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian spent their first Halloween together as a couple and decided to go in semi-matching costumes. Kim went over the top in a mermaid get-up with a blonde wig, and Kanye was her Captain. Someone asked Kanye what he was dressed as, and he didn’t even know it was Halloween! Just joking, but you know Kanye just pulled something out of his closet and came up with that combination.
Big Boi hosted a Halloween party in the A dressed up as Darth Vadar, and his wifey matched his black and white fly with a Punisher costume.
The single ladies of Hip-Hop were running around celebrating Halloween over the weekend as well. Lil’ Kim performed in what looks like one of her typical stage costumes with kitty cat ears for the Halloween touch.
YMCMB’s Christiana Milian ran around Hollywood as the Queen of Spades, and Angela Simmons was an angel. Very sexy!
Basketball Wives L.A. star Draya attended a party in Hollywood dressed as what I can only describe as a very sexy bride out of a p#### movie. In other words, Meek Mill’s dream girl. She posted a few photos of herself in the provocative costume, one of which Meek reposted.
What is home girl doing in that last pic? Not cute, Draya. Enjoy some additional Halloween 2012 photos below:
I wonder what Jay and Bey were for Halloween? (Sorry to end with a question, LOL!!!!!) Take that, take that!

This is Freeway and Rick Ross having a party. Add them together and you have something else. Freeway Ricky Ross at a party!

I’m not sure what is going on here, but let me tell you what was told to me. Freeway Ricky Ross, the former real life super drug dealer, was down in MIA, yo. What was he doing there? PARTYING, from what I was told. But…it was interesting. I heard he was in the company of Miami OG JT Money and the notorious ZOE Pound crew. What does this all mean? I’m not sure and since its all a rumor. Still, it feels like something could be going on. Could this be a play to usurp Rick Ross in his own hood? I really don’t know, but….that’s what I heard.
