Dres, Jarobi Discuss Evitan’s “Speed of Life,” New Album Due Out Tomorrow

(AllHipHop News) Rappers Dres and Jarobi are planning to release their collaborative album Evitan: Speed of Life this Friday (September 21).

Dres, who was once a member of famed Hip-Hop group Black Sheep, and Jarobi, former member of A Tribe Called Quest, decided to link together to form Evitan, which means “Native” backwards.

The longtime friends decided to work together as Jarobi was producing his own solo EP.

It was then, that A Tribe Called Quest group member Q-Tip suggested that Jarobi form a group with Dres of Black Sheep.

“The stakes are definitely higher now, because we’re wiser, smarter, fathers and we aim to constantly inspire. But we were in control from the very beginning, and free to take it to a whole other level,” Dres told AllHipHop.com in a statement.

The revered rappers have lined up high-profile guest appearances for Speed of Life, which features artists like Sadat X, Craig G., Sandman, Bootsy Collins and Mobb Deep’s Havoc.

Speed of Life delves into politics, and other relevant issues in the 21st century.

“We wanted to make music that was new, different, not the same old story,” Jarobi said of the upcoming release.

Evitan is currently planning a worldwide concert tour in late 2012, that will feature Native Tongue artist Chi Ali, who was recently released from prison after serving 12 years for second degree murder.

Non Hip-Hop Rumor: Wait, So OJ Did Do It? Kato Kaelin Says He Lied On The Stand!

Isht has officially hit the fan. Now that the statue of limitations have run out on the 1994 murders of OJ Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown-Simpson and Ronald Goldman, Kato Kaelin has come forward to say that he lied on the stand. Back in 1995 (before some of you were even born I bet!), OJ Simpson was acquitted of the murders based heavily on the glove not fitting, but also on the testimony of his frequent house guest, Kaelin. Kaelin famously testified and said that OJ did not commit the murders.

Now, Kato has come forward and said that he was “too scared” and “terrified” to tell the truth. Check out what he said below as reported by Cindy Adams from the NY Post.

“The statute of limitations has now passed . . . so I can now say . . . yes, he did it.”

“I was too scared. I was terrified.”

“People hated me. I’ve been spat upon. They threw gum in my coffee.”

Damn, so does that make OJ guilty? Keep in mind that Kato is currently locked behind bars in a Las Vegas prison. OJ is also behind bars, in a different Vegas jail. Do you believe what Kato is saying? Do you think OJ got away with murder?

(AllHipHop News) One half of M.O.P. (Mashed Out Posse), Lil Fame, and one half of 1982, Termanology, have joined forces to release the Fizzology project on November 6.

The wordsmith/producer duo released a video for the “Fizzology” title track on the Internet earlier this month for the new album, which features appearances from Busta Rhymes, Styles P, Bun B, and Freeway.

Initially recorded as a Termanology solo album produced by Lil Fame, who goes by the producer name Fuzzy Womack, the duo made the album into a joint effort once Fame recorded a verse or hook on almost every one of the 15 tracks.

To help compliment Fame’s hardcore but soulful beats, the duo also recruited DJ Premier, The Alchemist, Statik Selektah, and J Waxx to contribute production on the project, which debuts on November 6.

Non Hip-Hop Rumors: Bill Clinton Has A $12 Million Problem!

Damn. Nobody will wife ? I bet they will now. Monica is almost 40 and she has just signed on to write a beast of a book for $12 million on her explicit affair with President Bill Clinton. The National Enquirer broke the news and I bet William Jefferson is sh*tting proverbial bricks. And he did so good at the convention too!

Here is the scoop:

MONICA LEWINSKY is set to reveal shocking new secrets about her affair with ex-President BILL CLINTON in a bombshell $12 million tell-all, sources say.
Now 39 and still looking for love, the infamous former White House intern desperately wants vengeance on the man who sullied her name, the sources add.
“For years, Monica tried to protect Bill out of a misplaced sense of loyalty,” a close pal told The ENQUIRER. “But she no longer feels that way, and her memoir is his worst nightmare.”

“Never trust a big butt and a smile.”

Well, this rapper has more than made his money, set the careers of his kids off and has done incredible things. With the comeback on the horizon, he’s calling in favors from people in the game that can help him get back.

One of those people is Chris Brown. Apparently, Breezy promised to do a feature on the album, but when it came down to doing it, he was nowhere to be found. Its hard to duck people in the game and so his manager was put on the frontline. And that’s what they reported did – FRONTED! Now Breezy has beef with somebody that’s not going to throw bottles. Well, back in the day, this rapper would probably get Breezy beat down.

Maybe Brown will give his new nemesis some ice cream?

UPDATE: According to a more recent tweet by 106 & Park tonight (September 19), the show will not end, but will introduce its new hosts on October 1. The show also plans to pay tribute to hosts, Rocsi Diaz and Terrence J.

(AllHipHop News) After a 12-year stint on BET, the popular “106 & Park” show is reportedly set to end.

The announcement will likely come as a surprise to many, as the show recently launched a search for two new hosts to replace current hosts Rocsi Diaz and Terrence J.

According to Hip Hop Wired, the show made the announcement on Twitter today (September 19) via a message that was later deleted.

“We sadly announce that on September 28th, 2012, we will air our last episode,” the deleted tweet stated. There is no word if the deleted tweet signals a decision to hold off on the announcement for now.

Since 2000, BET’s “106 & Park” has been a mainstay in daily urban entertainment, attracting a mostly teen to young adult audience, and helping to launch the careers of previous hosts, AJ and Free.

World Renowned Grafitti Artist Futura Chats About Hip-Hop, Art And His Love For Kendrick Lamar

World renowned graffiti artist Futura has showcased his artwork alongside Hip-Hop’s favorite artist of the moment, the late Jean-Michel Basquiat, and has now aligned himself with Hip-Hop’s favorite cognac, Hennessy V.S. The street-art legend has designed a limited edition bottles for the brand, that is adorned with his signature bold and forward-thinking use of color and lines.

With only 200,000 individually numbered bottles released in the U.S., many art collectors and art fans have been showing up and enduring long lines in order to get their bottle autographed by the art legend.

Futura’s latest stop was in Washington D.C., where he hosted a private Hennessy V.S brunch at the trendy Smith Commons. The eccentric artist recently spoke with MTV’s RapFix about his love for all things Hip-Hop and revealed a few of his favorite artists.

“Obviously, we gotta go back some 30 years to the early 80’s when that culture in New York was sort of coming together and we were discovering, you know, the elements of hip hop,” said Futura.

“But, in fact, I predate the words “hip-hop,” it hadn’t been labeled yet, so I’m not as connected to it now as I obviously was back in the day. I like Kendrick Lamar, Dre… I’m still into it. I heard Snoop’s a lion now, he’s not a dog anymore, so you know, everybody’s moving forward doing things, you know, me too. And I do love some Jay-Z. So what can I say? I’m still connected emotionally to hip hop. But not as much of a fanatic about it when I was younger.”

From Swizz Beatz to Jay-Z, many rappers have taken to mentioning their art collections in their music. Futura believes that in the next year or so, street art will explode even more in Hip-Hop.

“I did hear Jay sing about Basquiat which I thought was pretty interesting. Yeah, I mean, I see this decade, we’re actually approaching 2013, so we’re still pretty early in this decade, so I give it another three years to see a lot of these influential individuals in that field maybe even investing in our work. You know it’s one thing to talk about ‘em, it’s another thing to actually buy them and collect them, so let’s see what happens.”

Futura’s limited edition Hennessy bottle retails for $34.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Wyclef Jean Responds to Lauryn Hill Baby Controversy, Recalls Their “Triangle Affair of Passion”

(AllHipHop News) Singer/rapper Wyclef Jean has recently released a new memoir, and in the midst of the book’s promotional tour, he has found himself embroiled in controversy over recent Lauryn Hill allegations.

AllHipHop.com spoke with Jean during an exclusive interview at a signing for his book, Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story, yesterday (September 18) at the 5th Avenue Barnes & Noble bookstore in New York City.

Before the signing event, Jean was eager to address detractors who have questioned the timing of his book’s release, at a time when former Fugees group member, Lauryn Hill, is dealing with significant tax evasion charges from the IRS.

In Purpose, Jean details how, during their meteoric rise as a rapping/singing trio (with group member, Pras), Hill disclosed to him that he was the father of her soon-to-be-born baby. In time, Jean says he found out that her son Zion’s father was actually Rohan Marley, the son of legendary reggae artist, Bob Marley.

“Keep in mind right, everything I told you in the book, someone already knows. So I can’t lie to AllHipHop.com…y’all have pieces of all this information,” said Jean. “[People knew] that, that the first baby, ‘Clef thought that was his baby.’ Remember the cover of The Source, Wyclef’s in the middle and what does it say? – ‘Baby Daddy’ on it.

“When it comes to Lauryn Hill, it’s nothing but love in the context of if she needs something, I’m always a phone call away.”

Jean noted that fans are still relentless when it comes to asking about a possible Fugees reunion. When asked if his recent announcement about the long ago baby incident had all but assured that the group from North Jersey would never perform again, he was willing to offer his thoughts:

“For a Fugees fan that’s asking, ‘Yo when y’all did The Score, man, there were undertones going on’, and we have the puzzle pieces for those fans. I still owe them an explanation. And I feel closure now in a sense of, you know, they can’t be like, ‘Yo, is there going to be another Fugee album.'”

“I don’t want the base of my book to be based on my triangle affair of passion with Lauryn, but it’s cool. If we got to get past that to get to that you read the story of an immigrant, of a kid coming from a hut, and how I made it to America, it’s all part of the book.”

Watch the exclusive video below of Wyclef Jean, as he talks about the book’s timing, what he thinks of Lauryn Hill now, and how The Fugees will fare after his recent revelation:

Check back for more of AllHipHop.com’s interview with Wyclef Jean in the days to come.

Nick Cannon To Bring “Wild N’ Out” Back To TV!

Nick Cannon is bringing his hit comedy show, “Wild ‘n Out”, back to TV!

Kevin Frazier spoke to Nick about returning to his comedic roots, and Cannon tells us his team of comedians will be crazier and more star studded than ever! In case you missed the early 2000’s, “Wild ‘n Out” puts two teams of comedians, the Red Squad and the Black Squad — both led by a celebrity guest — to pit against each other in a series of “Wild ‘n Out” improv games.

The show went on for four seasons, and the genius of “Wild ‘n Out” gave several prominent comedians their big break.

Who can forget Katt Williams a.k.a. Money Mike?! Kevin Hart, Charlie Murphy, Mike Epps, and even Wayne Brady himself also guest starred on the series. Cannon promises some of the originals comedians will be back (crossing fingers for Kevin Hart, Epps, and Katt), as well as many other new talented faces.

Along with hot comedians, “Wild ‘n Out” featured a special guest/musical artist on each show, including the young Christina Milian (Nick’s ex). Since she most likely won’t appear on the new season, an appearance by his wife, Mariah Carey, would be classic! Can you imagine the shade Mariah would give other contestants?!

As of now, it’s unclear if the show will return to MTV or move to another network. Are you excited for the comeback?!
