Bradley Cooper nearly got a chance to work with Beyoncé and one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood before teaming up with Lady Gaga.
On Wednesday (February 21), footage from Cooper’s recent interview with Sag-AFTRA Foundation Conversation series began circulating after the Beyhive found out the pair of Grammy Award-winners nearly teamed up on the film A Star Is Born. Cooper revealed that before Lady Gaga was set to star in the film, he was visiting JAY-Z and Beyoncé at their home in Los Angeles, developing the motion picture. Although, he also wasn’t attached as the director yet either.
”It was a movie that Clint Eastwood was going to direct with Beyoncé and he asked me to do it as an actor, before ‘American Sniper,’ I’d done ‘Elephant Man,’ for a year on Broadway,” Cooper said in part.
As he continued, Cooper revealed that it wasn’t until after he turned down Eastwood’s offer to act in the film and offered to produce it that he and Queen Bey began working on the film together.
“It was crazy,” he recalled. “She was incredible and so was he, and we developed it for like a year together. I mean, she’s one of the greatest people of all time. Then that fell through.”
According to one of the film’s producers, Beyoncé got pregnant, then Eastwood decided to do another movie, and that’s essentially what made things fall apart, in a more finite sense.
Check out the full interview above. Cooper starts talking about working with Beyoncé around the 40-minute mark.
