A Kentucky man who was serving six years in prison for burglary and five for criminal possession of a forged instrument turned himself back into jail after escaping, because he said it was too cold outside.
According to AP, the inmate escaped from a minimum security facility in Lexington on Sunday. As temperatures dropped into the low single digits Monday, he walked into a motel and told the clerk to call the police.
The 42-year-old man revealed that he wanted to go back to jail to escape the frigid weather. He was found wearing the standard prison uniform of khaki pants, a shirt, and he was also wearing a jacket.
There are no further reports on what penalty he’ll face for breaking out.
