Gunna returned this week with a brand-new song. “Bittersweet” has some people wondering if the Atlanta-raised hitmaker extended an olive branch to his estranged musical partner Lil Baby.
YSL Records and 300 Entertainment released “Bittersweet” on Friday (February 16). A music video directed by Spike Jones also premiered on YouTube. Those visuals began trending on the platform.
“You my dawg. I don’t care if we fall out, n####, I never could diss you,” Gunna raps on the Working on Dying-produced “Bittersweet” track. Some listeners assumed he was referring to “My Dawg” rapper Lil Baby in those lyrics.
The “Drip Too Hard” collaborators apparently fell out in recent years. Baby allegedly took issue with Gunna accepting an Alford plea deal in 2022. Georgia prosecutors indicted the man born Sergio Kitchens in the ongoing RICO case against YSL frontman Young Thug.
Many Hip-Hop fans speculated that Lil Baby called his former friend a “rat” on the “350” song in 2023. Additionally, the fellow Atlanta native may have used a moment on stage to slam Gunna for supposedly “snitching” on Thug and other co-defendants. Kitchens has denied cooperating with the prosecution.
Before any possible tension between the two men became public, Gunna and Lil Baby worked closely together on records like the diamond-certified “Drip Too Hard” collaboration. They also dropped the Drip Harder joint mixtape in 2018.
