Jay Electronica celebrated MLK day with a private show at the Harold Washington Cultural Center.

After a dope performance, Jay brought new artist from Chicago, Tyre Hakim on stage to spit a few bars.

Impressed by the young spitta, they hung out at Cheese Cake Factory after the show on Mag Mile to chop it up and advise Tyre on his upcoming release, Who Am I.

While sharing a few gems Jay learns he was a fan of Tyre’s dad, rapper Hashim Hakim.

Here’s a little Chicago Hip-Hop history.

Hashim Hakim is the Muslim brother that freestyled with Jay Z and DMX on the Backstage DVD while tour.

Jay surprised Tyre by kicking few bars his dad spit back then.
