Several sources have revealed to AllHipHop.com that the Atlanta Police are looking for rapper JT Money in connection with a shooting that took place last night (October 11) outside of Opera Nightclub, leaving one man injured.
According to Atlanta Police Department Public Information Officer Ron Campbell, two black males were involved in a verbal altercation, which quickly escalated into gunfire inside Opera, located at 1150 Crescent Street in Midtown Atlanta.
The victim, 29-year-old Carl Edwards Green, II, was shot in the abdomen and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Three individuals were seen fleeing the scene in a black H2 Hummer.
While the early reports stated that JT Money was one of the three, Officer Campbell would not confirm his involvement as of press time.
We do have a person of interest, and are expecting to make an arrest, Officer Campbell told AllHipHop.com early Friday (October 12).
The incident took place around 9:00 pm, shortly before singer Trey Songz was to perform for the audience of about 400-500, gathered inside of the Midtown venue.
There were just about as many people waiting outside to gain entry into the invitation-only event, which was hosted by Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9 (WHTA-FM).
After the shooting, panicked partygoers began running out of the club, but Officer Campbell stated there were no other injuries directly related to the shooting.
The event, held at the newly renovated venue formerly known as Eleven-50, was one of the many Welcome to Atlanta events taking place Thursday, in conjunction with the taping of the 2 Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards, scheduled for October 13.
JT Money, born Jefferey Thompkins, rose to fame as a member of the classic Hip-Hop group The Poison Clan.
He also assisted Luke Campbell lyrically, during his feud with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre during the mid-1990′s.
He is working on a new album titled Pimpin Xtreme.
