Building on the success of last years VH1 reality, Sandy Pepa Denton has announced Lets Talk About Pep, her autobiography now set for release through VH1 Books.
This is the real Pepa, Denton disclosed in a statement to AllHipHop.com. And this is the memoir of a true pioneer, fighter, survivor, and inspiration to women everywhere.
The tell-all book will chronicle Pepas life; from her troubled early years as a victim of child abuse to her adult struggles in marriage (to fellow rap star Treach), divorce, and domestic violence.
Salt-n-Pepas twenty plus year career is also extensively covered, including previously undisclosed details regarding the trios acrimonious split in 2002 and recent reunion through reality television.
Salt-n-Pepa formed in 1985 and quickly made a name with a diss entitled The Show Stopper, an answer record to Doug E. Fresh and Slick Ricks The Show.
The following year, their debut album Hot, Cool, and Vicious reached platinum behind the momentum of the classic single Push It.
The group obtained their highest success with 1993s Very Necessary, which went 5 times Platinum, powered by the Top 5 Billboard singles Whatta Man, and Shoop.
Lets Talk About Pep was written in conjunction with New York Times bestselling author Karen Hunter, who has also assisted LL Cool J, Wendy Williams, and Queen Latifah with their biographies.
The books forward and epilogue will be handled by Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah respectively.
Lets Talk About Pep is scheduled for release in September.
