Lil Flip has announced his latest album, Respect Me, will land in stores on September 29 via High Powered Entertainment/E1. According to the 28-year-old rapper who also goes by the name Flip Gates, the new 15-track album is a reflection of his life. “The thing about this album is that it’s so reflective of me, my music, life and lifestyle,” Lil Flip said. “Trust me; everything I rap about is based on truth. So when I rhyme dirty style about the Bentleys, the clubs, the platinum, the girls, my life’s lessons or whatever, it’s not bragging, it’s just fact.” Respect Me was produced by J Silva, who has crafted tracks for Daz, E-40, Keyshia Cole, Lil Wayne and others. The first single from the new album is titled “Da #1 Fly Boy.”

 

MC Hammer is planning to release a three new albums this year, including a follow-up album to his 1990 smash hit album, Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em. Billboard reports. Hammer has built up a catalog of about 200 unreleased songs, some of which will be featured on Don’t Hurt ‘Em. Please Hammer Don’t Hurt Em spawned several hit singles including “You Can’t Touch This” and “Pray.” Hammer is also putting the final touches on DanceJamtheMusic and a Christmas album that will feature his family.

 

The daughter of the late Notorious B.I.G. celebrated her Sweet Sixteen last night (August 16) at Taj in New York. T’Yanna Wallace was just three-years-old when her father, rapper Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace was gunned down in March of 1997 after a party in Los Angeles. “I needed to have him here with me,” T’Yanna told The New York Daily News. “I feel like I’m all grown up now.” T’Yanna’s favorite rapper, Chicago emcee Kid Cudi performed during the birthday party.

 

DMC, the world’s largest DJ organization will celebrate its 25th anniversary this September in London. DJ’s from around the world will gather at the Indig02 Arena in London from September 11-12. On Friday, the DMC’s Battle for World Supremacy will take place, as DJ Switch will defend his title against the planet’s top DJ’s. Also scheduled to take place are team battles and the DJ Championship World Final.
