(AllHipHop News) Miami record label Slip-N-Slide, Plies and an independent label formerly based in Miami have been named in a lawsuit filed by a Charlotte, North Carolina songwriter.Songwriter Romell Caldwell filed the lawsuit in The United Stated District Court For the Southern District of New York on Monday (December 6th) claiming Plies stole the song “Bond Money.” The lawsuit names Slip-n-Slide, Plies, UDigg Records and 101 Distribution as defendants in a copyright infringement lawsuit. According to Caldwell, he wrote and copyrighted a song titled “Dim Hits” in 2001. Around 2004, Caldwell claims he submitted a copy of his copyrighted song to Trina, who is not named in the lawsuit, in 2004. Caldwell was shocked to learn that portions of his song had been incorporated into the song “Bond Money” from Plies’ 2008 mixtape, 36 Ounces. Caldwell claims he was never authorized the use and that the track continues to be sold through various retail and online outlets without his consent. The songwriter claims Trina, Slip-N-Slide and Plies copied, reproduced and distributed the work without his consent. He is seeking an injunction halting the sales of the song, in addition to all allowed damages and losses for missed licensing and sales revenue.
