Hip-Hop Rumors: What Pioneering Southern Group Is Coming Back?

A$AP Rocky has started a movement in Houston, TX! What the hell did I just say? Sorry, I got confused about A$AP on that. Shout out to him. But I have an exclusive rumor that Texans should be excited about. The Screwed Up Click was the architect of so many things that you can’t say it enough. I’m getting word from http://cb-streets.blogspot.com that original Screwed Up Click member E.S.G. is looking to get back in the game. R.I.P. DJ Screw! I’m hoping they can capitalize on A$AP’s odd renewal of the Houston sound. Here is how it went down:

E.S.G…
“Its going to be a day eventually when we going to have to start to initiate new artists for the ‘Screw Up Click’,if you want this to go on forever and forever there comes a time when our seeds might have to carry our name on.”

CB STREETS..
Do you think that something can be in the works sometime soon? You think you can make it happen?

E.S.G.
“Yea I can make it happen,I started to tweet this a month ago I promise.””I was like I think its time for me and the powers that be to sit down and like every year initiate a different artist that we feel is worthy,WE GET BEHIND THEM AND HELP THEM TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL.””THAT WOULD BE LIVE MAN, IT WOULD BE PERFECT.”

In all honesty, I think he’s referring to new Houston rappers, NOT rappers from New york & shit

  • What they should do is get the original members and drop a screwd uo click album, that would sell big in the south, and ASOP is garbage i hate thes Ny rappers riding the south wave be yourself, but the best rappers out of Houston was always Face, Street Military, K-RINO, Gangsta Nip, the SPC but all those new age shine and bling and slab and peice and chain rappers got more fame but i never liked that movement of mike jones, paul wall, slim, and them, i liked the old Houston sound that talked real shit

    • johnblacksad

Lil Keke da mothafcukin DON! One of the best ever… and not only Houston!

man you was doing something til you said GANGSTA NIP LOL

  • whats asap without a video and a screwed hook lol wack rhymes ijs lol 😉

  • Raphop71

Truth be told, Screwed Up Click was one of the greatest Southern Hip Hop collectives that never got it’s full shine or recogniotion, unlike other labels like No Limit, despite S.U.C. giving damn near all the game, concepts, and swag to the rest of the South (Southeast) to use until this day. Real Southern hip hop fans know it’s true. I say the Houston rap scene is still strong as its ever been…just start getting behind the real G’s down there who deserve to be in the spotlight even harder..guys like Trae, Z-Ro, etc. Too many independent rappers in Houston who should be on top in the game just aren’t getting enough hype and publicity from their own local fanbases, and the Southeast is afraid to let TX back in. Keep grinding TX..another slew of Lil Flips, Chamillionaires, and Mike Joneses will be out reppin hard soon.

    • jondoe

Tx is in the southwest not the southeast

  • how u going to do that? e.s.g. ? i mean u want to bring back the s.u.c when u can’t sqush the beef with u and lil’flip flip was the last member to be s.u.c and half of the h-town rappers don’t even work with him or mike jones so im not buying it

  • brotha_man

I was hoping for the geto boys

  • brotha_man

when I was in basic training them texas boys put me on that S.U.C been bumping S.U.C since.

  • 2775roc

The south been keeping NY on life support for some time now. Time for them to man up and make their own shit?. Especially ,. Montana, Busta, fabolous been eating off the south slick like for a minute now.

  • trilltalk1

truth be told H-TOWN still moving, but niggas take our style and run with it. ASAP and 2 CHAINS the only ones that pay homage and both them niggas ASS. BUT AT LEAST THEY KEEP IT 100. the rest of these niggas style and act like they invented the wheel. E.S.G may not be able to do that, cause truth be told he not even from H-TOWN. that nigga from BOGALUSA, LA or some shit like that.

    • immackulate

neither was UGK or BIG MIKE but H-TOWN where they get they support

      • trilltalk1

That’s true but what’s your point?

      • immackulate

my point is dont discredit ESG for not being from HOUSTON cuz BIG MIKE/UGK who are partly responsible for the HTOWN sound arent TECHNICALLY from houston either –

and ESG didnt say HIM ALONE – he said its time to have a mtg with the POWERS THAT BE to see whose worthy of that STAMP OF APPROVAL – sound like a round table committee to me not just ESG –

        SWANGIN AND BANGIN

      • trilltalk1

Peep game homie 1st off I am a H-Town nigga. 2nd they not responsible for our sound. they came and got down with what was already established. Last Bun B and Pimp C been living in Houston since like 88 89. Big Mike got ran out the city long time ago. This H-Town

big mike and ugk are PARTLYresponsible for the sound – dont matter who got ran out the city hell at one point n time FACE was ran out the city to ATL — ESG came out way before pimp and bun even dropped back in 82 cant play favs you gotta keep it 1000 – how you gonna show UGK love but diss ESG in the same sentence and aint neither one originally from the H but ESG been out waaaayyy longer – and like ESG said THE POWERS THAT BE are gonna have to have a meeting – not just HIM BY HIS SELF – i got signed to a little label outta houston when i was 14 CONCRETE JUNGLE RECORDS outta one of them wards 3RD if im not mistaken – and ESG was a pioneer to that indy hustle – of course RAP A LOT was responsible for that nationwide push but ESG did a lot – when Pocket full of stones dropped – chg the game but you still cant forget about that OG STYLES “harris cou jail” IM TALM BOUT THEM OG’S before KEKE was thE DON before ROBERT DAVIS was DJ SCREW history

      • trilltalk1

lol are you serious dawg? E.S.G came out before UGK nigga please. They came out around the same time, but UGK came out 1st. But like I said I am a H-Town nigga I know our music history. Nigga said 82 lol you have know clue as to what you talking bout.

that 82 was a typo it was def round 92 when ocean of funk dropped – google is a helluva drug – lemme do some fact checking – which was also around the time too hard to swallow dropped – right or wrong – either way if im off a couple mos or yrs – they both dropped around the same time – again backing up what i initially said ESG is PARTLY resp for that HTown sound
you and i both know it wasnt no 82 – shyt i was 5 in 82

      • trilltalk1

Know google my nigga but I thought sailing the south came out before ocean of funk. You might be right though. But UGK dropped 1st and E.S.G not responsible for shit. He just fell in line with what keke fat pat hawk and skrew was already doing. He sound like them with less skill and a annoying voice.

      • immackulate

tomato / tomato(e) – dont get me wrong ESG aint that niggah but he had a couple bangers here and there plus an OG in the game – that alone get my respect – he had to fall in line with keke, fat pat, hawk cuz them niggahs literally CHANGED THE GAME but he was already in the game when them niggahs started making noise – back when DALLAS own RON C was dropping, when og styles in 89 was dropping –
i think you skipped over a whole group of niggahs that was putting it down before HOUSTON became SCREWSTON – thats like looking over RUN DMC for LL COOL J – you gotta pay homage where homage is due

      • trilltalk1

I have not looked over anyone we were not discussing them. Our debate was E.S.G and UGK. But the 1st wave was Raheim and the Geto Boys then came the rest.

      • immackulate

nah that wasnt the debate myG – scroll down – initially you said ESG wasnt HOUSTON cuz he was from somewhere else and i pointed out neither are UGK and BIG MIKE – but they both (ugk/big mike) partly resp for creating HOUSTONS sound but i prolly shouldah said partly resp for keeping HTOWN “moving” so we wouldnt get stuck on that – I mentioned a couple old heads outta the H like OG STYLE/ESG (we both agreeing that swangin and bangin was phuck’n around back in the gap)

eitehr way you look at it – HTOWN been on before and after screw tapes and UGK/FACE/GETO BOYS was the most popular but SUAVE HOUSE held down the H with Mr Mike for a hot minute even tho he from CORPUS – all the way to when flipper was claiming the freestyle king – hell even mike jones annoying azz kept HTOWN “moving” as you put it lol – it’s been a lot of niggahs that had they hand in on the success of HTOWN –

      • trilltalk1

Know I said he could not get S.U.C back together. Then I added he was not from Houston. Then the Great Debate began, bit I see you know your history. So you good with me playboy.

All I said at the beginning was I didn’t think he could do that. The rest I said was just facts. Not trying to be tuff on the internet that’s for weak niggas. I was just keepin 100 but you got in your feelings.

Swangin and Bangin was the shit but all he did was jump down with what was already in the making. Not knocking him just speaking the real homie.

“when NY niggahs was calling southern rappers lame, but then jacking our slang”

    realest zaggin down south!

  • immackulate

somebody tell PREEMO c’mon home and start reppin’ this TX shyt

  • jondoe

It takes more than a fuckin slowed down hook to make a TX sound…Asap sound nothing like a tx rapper, on the cool when TX rappers use screwed hooks they don’t screw their own voice, they take a line from a old dj screw song & sample it so asap sounds nothing like our houston music he never sampled keke fatpat hawk or big moe

  • ESG is looking to get back in the game?? Muthafucka, he been killing the game!!! Ya’ll might not hear it cuz you only listen to corporate radio, but his last 2 albums Everyday Street Gangsta and Owners Manual are classics. People need to quit sleeping on our
legends, I can’t believe ya’ll gon do an interview with E and then say he looking to get back in the game, thats fuckin disrespectful. Get your game up! SUC 4 LIFE.
