Fox News Uses March On Washington To Criticize Rap Music & Jay Z

(AllHipHop News) While many in America celebrated the 50th Anniversary of The March On Washington as a day of remembrance and acknowledgement of the continual struggle for civil rights and social justice, Fox News chose to discuss the event by focusing on what it called “degrading rap music.”

The segment, anchored by Shannon Bream, lead with the caption, “50 Years After March On Washington Some See Rap Music As A Problem.” Beam then began discussing an op-ed written by Fox News analyst Juan Williams published in The Wall Street Journal.

After playing Bob Dylan’s 1963 song “Blowin’ In The Wind,” Beam then said, “Today, Juan Williams has a powerful column in the Wall Street Journal half a century later, where he challenges people to compare the promise of that inspiring music with what Juan calls the ‘heartbreaking contrast’ of today’s hit rap songs like Jay-Z’s hit ‘Holy Grail.'”

In the article, Williams highlights 60’s era singers like Dylan, Sam Cooke, and Curtis Mayfield, and compares their lyrical content to present day rappers like Lil Wayne and Jay Z.

Picking up on William’s argument, Fox News contributor Jehmu Greene called Jay Z’s music “despicable,” and said it is “filled with misogyny.”

So apparently, they’re not Jay-Z fans. And apparently they haven’t heard “Part II (On The Run)” which the man basically puts on about how cool his marriage is… That’s pretty misogynistic, I guess. But they’re entitled to their opinion. LoL. As if CROX news truly cares about the salvation of poor people.

  • You know you’ve hit the big time when Faux News is hating!

    • Yeah, but they are not hating, they are promoting – on purpose…

    • petty_patrol_tengu

Alternatively, you know you’ve messed up when Fox News is right about you.

  • johnblacksad

Fox still tryin ta slander the man…

It’s all in the title “Difference between songs in the ’60s and today’s degrading rap music”

Why black people even show up on Fox? They don’t even like you, they’re just using you.

    • Fox likes it’s Toms, and those are the only ones they mention. Even when it is seen as hate. The Jews own ALL of the TV stations so one might come like Fox, another comes soft and innocent like ABC, but the messages are the same – hate on the black man and use Uncle Toms to help them.

THEY JUST LOOKING FOR AN ANGLE TO GAIN VIEWERS AND CONTREVERSY … MARKETING AND PROMOTING … AND HONESTLY ALOT OF IT IS RIGHT … IT SEEMS WRONG BECAUSE ITS DONE IN A TASTELESS MATTER AND DONE @ THE WRONG TIME … I RESPECT THE HUSTLE … AS A BLACK MAN I LET IT FLY CAUSE I KNOW NONE OF WHAT THEY SAY APPLIES TO ME ………. PERSONIFY GREATNESS INSTEAD OF DEFENDING IGNORANCE

  • Executive

They need to zip it, whites are the top degraders, terrorists, thieves, liars, murderers, deceitful, hateful, untrust worth people In history! So there is nothing they can do to cover that up.

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

i wouldnt go that far they have a point .. but then again its just intertainment … all tho we def are still in a struggle … people still perfer to celebrate some with reason … and some with no reason at all .. it is what it is … but we have inspiring artist ouchea … wayne and jayz are def one of those people … they dont show it much lyrically … but just who they are and how they move is very inspiring … like jay said sending motivation out to compton in them 100 blocks … ie Kendrick Lamar ……

  • When THEY mention rappers, it is always their illuminati puppet rappers. It is code/promotion to tell their followers that these are the rappers that are theirs. Notice how they never mention rappers that only rap fans know about or rappers who talk about real issues. Jay-Z is an Uncle Tom for selling out his black brothers for the interests of the Jew, when he should know that they can strip him of his money at any time.

What doesn’t fox news criticize black Americans about? Most of there show’s that’s all they do so why would we expect anything more from them.

  • Live Well

Fox has no equity with minorities. Who cares what they say.

  • Wavpin

    Fucks News!

  • PhilTheGreat

I don’t remember hearing much misogyny in MCHG. Off the top of my head at least. I’ll have to go back and listen, but if not that makes that statement pure propaganda.

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

jayz gets a pass on this cause most of his misogyny lines on this album are pretty much aimed @ wifey which folks who arent hip hop literate prob just take it as a misgonist line off top … but jay lucky now and its kind of dope to hear a rapper confess a real love in music … ie lets make love in a dirty hotel with the fan on the cieling !! <— that line was directed @ WIFEY !!!!

  • I WILL BITE YOU!!

“It has lyrics we cannot play on television, at least not this time of day”
Same as certain Movies and Programs that are only played at night when the kids are sleep… whats so hard to understand about this?

  • hoeyuno

Russell Simmons released a rape tape…what??

  • TimeWillTellu1

That album is tight but I’m bobbing my head to some evil lyrics hidden within the tracks. Listen hard folks…

  • duh boy

i love rap but are they lying…every song tells a girl to suck somebodies dick but not her mans. if you think im wrong, tommorrow while you are standing ther with your daughter i will give you play by play how i smashed this other niggas girl. thats how it is when im in da car with my daughters and the radio is on. they like daddy why you keep turnin to the classic soul station. im like cause evry song is the same andd promoting hoeness and slutery.

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

def is … and honestly alot of this new music is so geared to woman and thier bodies and thier sexuality … i dont know how a car full of guys can even play this music without doing some gay ish lol ……

  • Yes, the message in music has changed and ALOT of rap is degrading. However there is positive rap aswell but like everything else negative always seems to overshadows the good

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

to the negatives defense …. rappers that make more positive music just gotta step it up … on some real ish the negative ish sounds super dope … but alot of the positive ish is mediocre thats why its not making it to the outlets plus alot of those artist … are so artsy with it they dont have the skill to push the record themselves …. and alot of them feel they are so lyrical that it should blow on it own ……. alot of the dumb down strip club records we hear so much because alot of those guys are business men and know how to sell themselves as well as thier records …..

  • Reblogged this on HUEY mix wit RILEY.
