Bandit Points Gun In Rhymefest’s Face; Rapper Criticizes Chicago Police Department’s Response

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rapper Rhymefest was robbed in his own hometown of Chicago early Saturday morning (August 27), and he lashed out at police over their response.

Rhymefest is well known in the city thanks to his work as a rapper and activist, who ran for as an Alderman on the South Side in 2010.

None of this seemed to matter to the bandit who robbed the rapper, or the police who responded to the crime.

According to Rhymefest, he was sitting in his car on a street on the Southside of Chicago, when an unknown man hopped in his vehicle and pointed a gun at him.

The robber demanded Rhymefest turn over his wallet, and then took off.

“It’s 7:30am. you just put a gun in my face for $3 in my wallet,” Rhymefest Tweeted. “I defend you against police brutality, I work on your behalf you robbed me.”

When Rhymefest drove to the closest police station to report the crime, he said he was treated “disgustingly” and posted a video of the difficulties he was having with the local cops, in just filling out a report.

The Chicago Police Department saw the video that Rhymefest posted, and immediately issued an apology.

“Disappointing to say the least. On behalf of CPD, I apologize for how you were treated. We will be addressing this today,” Tweeted Anthony Guglielmi, Communications Director for the Chicago Police Department.

As for Rhymefest, he walked away from the incident unscathed, although the “Jesus Walks” writer admitted to being in “shock” from having a gun pointed at his face.

Rhymefest is also encouraging the robber to come forward, but unfortunately, he’s also considering leaving the Southside of Chicago just because of the risks living there.

“You don’t know what you did! And who you did it to. I lived here on the southside because I thought it mattered. I’m reconsidering.”

The news comes on the heels of the death of Dwyane Wade’s cousin, who was struck in the head by crossfire and killed on the Southside, as she innocently pushed her infant in a stroller on Friday, in Chicago.

The white guy that robbed him needs to turn himself in to the cops. Not fair that this guy who is trying to better the community has to be treated like this.

You got Black folks pushing and making their way in society, then you got our cancerous counterparts (ni**as) doing what they do best. Mentor and help who you can, but realize some of “us” are beyond fixing and need to be exiled to the cemetery.

He should move, your living around savages as they call themselves. L.A. rappers have some influence on the streets, Chicago rappers have known.

THESE are not the people that he was standing up for, AND why did he think he was any different than anybody else in that ‘hood? Either you do GOOD for good sake, or you do it for attention.. pick one

Why rob someone who is trying to improve your situation…when he could have robbed someone who doesn’t give a sh!t.

Hopefully Rhymefest gets some positivity coming his way soon. The best move is to move. Let those scumbags live by the gun and die by the gun. South Side Chi is ruined and deserves to be quarantined.

Pigs talk about better relations between them and civilians, but
when it comes down to it,they continue to act in a manner that says the opposite. Treating a fellow human being with the respect and courtesy you expect in return doesn’t seem like asking for much.

I carry cash because I’m old school, but I wish a motha fricka would take mine! I’m on that wish factor…
Having said that my real money is either my business checking account, or my investment account (most in the IRA)…..
