AN ILLSEED COMMENT ABOUT LIL’ WAYNE

I don’t offer my opinions too much on the rumors. I save that for the editorial page. But allow me to comment on Lil’ Wayne since he is the man of the hour. First, let me say up front, I’m not a huge fan, but I have a certain amount of respect. From the newer generation (meaning 30 and under), I appreciate cats mostly like The Game, Young Jeezy, Pac Div, and some others. Now, Wayne once called himself “the greatest rapper alive  since the greatest rapper retired.” Well, now that Jay-Z is back, where does that place him? Last time I checked, the greats in Hip-Hop took the crown from the previous King. From the start of Hip-Hop, the torch is taken! So, Jay still has the crown and 50 is stompin’ holes in cats (even though his last CD was closer to a Ja Rule record). Then here is Weezy, and he loves Jay so much, he doesn’t go for that coveted crown. Wants no “beef” with 50 at all. I feel if he's ever going to be mentioned as one of the greats (Hey, we’re talking from Kane to Kool G Rap to Biggie to ‘Pac to Pun and Andre 3000), he needs to "let his nuts hang" as they used to say in Houston and go harder. I’m not a super fan and I don’t hate him. I appreciate Hip-Hop and I would be nice to see the guard change or at least a fight for it. The Carter III is a cool CD, but it’s not a punch in the mouth. Maybe it’s a well placed body shot that takes full affect in a bit.

LIL  RUMOR OF WAYNE…

Speaking of Lil Wayne: I heard he was in his hotel room getting a tattoo right before going on stage at Summer Jam. I’m not sure, but I think somebody said there was one on the right side of his forehead. It was like a sentence or something – just regular words. Anyway, in the hotel, I heard people were getting NICE. You know what I mean by nice so I wont get into anymore details of the cocktail. Anyway, the niceness was in conjunction with the tattoo and in conjuction with the weird “sexual chocolate” show.

President of basketball operations Joe Dumars said it’s “time for a new voice to lead our team.” Saunders had a year left on a four-year deal he signed in 2005. The decision comes three years after Saunders took over for Larry Brown, who led the Pistons to two straight NBA finals.

“Decisions like this are difficult to make, especially with the success we have had throughout the last three regular seasons,” Dumars said in a statement. “However, at this time, I feel it is necessary to make a change.”

A message left for Saunders was not immediately returned. Dumars was to speak Tuesday at the team’s practice facility.

Assistant coach Michael Curry is expected to replace Saunders, NBA sources told Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski. Other possible candidates include Detroit assistant coach Terry Porter and former Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson.


In Saunders’ three seasons, the Pistons were 176-70 in the regular season and 30-21 in the postseason, but they lost in the Eastern Conference finals each year.

The Pistons have appeared in six straight conference finals, the first franchise to do so since the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s. But they also are the second team in league history to lose in the round before the NBA finals three years in a row, joining the Celtics from 1953-55.

Dumars decided a year ago to bring back key players who have been together since the 2004 championship season, as well as Saunders, while infusing energy with rookies and young reserves. But after the loss in Game 6 of the East finals to Boston on Friday, the likelihood of change grew.

Before coming to Detroit, Saunders was 411-326 with the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1995-05. He led them to eight straight postseason appearances — seven first-round exits and an appearance in the 2004 conference finals. After leading Minnesota to a franchise-high 58 wins, he was fired with a 25-26 mark in the 2004-05 season.

-The most unique / origional voice in the game at this present time
-25 and already a legend in the rap game due time served in his career
-Has the most songs on the radio without LP sales (We haven't seen that SINCE 50)

Here is what needs to be done on his next Album, for him to make it in the All-Time Top Five  -  eat 50 (and any other oppositions) lyrically, go back to the pen and write deeper tracks for the masses, and devour every internet critic in one song.

****Here is how he changed the game though - FREESTYLES ! !

Before all of the devoted AHH bloggers wish death upon me for saying this, I wanna let it be known  -  Jada,  Lloyd Banks, Cassidy and a few others would DESTROY Wayne in a freestyle battle.........we know this.
HOWEVER, how many of the aforementioned cats can freestyle over as many beats as Wayne did, and have them played on the radio????  -  NONE!

Wayne aint the best by means of the "OLD TESTAMENT" (26yrs and up) - but he is the A.D., and is setting the TONE for the "NEW TESTAMENT" (25 yrs andDOWN).

I don't understand that right there but I doubt if he cares if I understand. Needless, to say I enjoy his music. If we stopped listening to our favorite artists or watching our favorite athletes/entertainers because of their inapropriate actions there would be no music or sports to enjoy. LOL Most of them are probably ass holes but their not raising my kids and didn't raise me. Tupac was a walking contradiction but that's what made him great in my opionion because he had many flaws which could've been fabricated but I doubt that. Who knows?

I disagree with the lyrical part because I think he's very lyrical but I also think lyrics are very subjective. I didn't think you were taking a shot at the south or at Lil Wayne. Your opinion is your opinion. I also feel like you can enjoy his music whether or not you agree with his lifestyle or not.

The battle between "The Boondocks" creator Aaron McGruder and Black Entertainment Television is about to get a lot more animated.

Two second-season episodes of the biting cartoon series that attack the black-themed network but were never aired -- possibly because of corporate pressure -- are slated for DVD release Tuesday. The pair of shows take aim at BET's top executives and lampoon what it views as the cable network's harmful negative imagery and stereotypes that work as a "destructive" force within African American culture.

The episodes amplify a familiar chord struck by McGruder, who has regularly targeted BET, first in his politically and culturally charged comic strip, published in more than 300 newspapers, and subsequently in the TV adaptation on Cartoon Network's edgy late-night Adult Swim.

But these particular installments, which like many in the animated series feature violence, foul language and frequent use of the N-word, apparently went too far in mocking BET's top brass. In "The Hunger Strike," a main character refuses to eat until BET is off the air and its executives commit hara-kiri.

And in "The Uncle Ruckus Reality Show," a foul-mouthed black man who hates African Americans gets a show on BET. The hot-button series centers on two young black boys, militant Huey Freeman and his gangsta-wannabe younger brother, Riley, who live in the suburbs with their grandfather.

When BET executives learned of the shows, they complained to Turner-owned Cartoon Networks and Sony Pictures Television, which produces "The Boondocks," and urged that they be blocked from broadcast, according to sources close to the program who requested anonymity for fear of network reprisal.

Initially, Cartoon Network resisted, but when legal action was threatened, the episodes, written by McGruder and co-executive producer Rodney Barnes, were yanked, according to sources. Both McGruder and Barnes declined to comment.

Executives at Turner and Viacom-owned BET, however, deny there were any discussions about removing the programs between the two companies. Still, Turner officials would not explain why the two installments were eventually withheld.

Both episodes are highlighted by fierce satirical attacks on two top BET executives, portrayed in thinly disguised caricatures.

Chairman and Chief Executive Debra L. Lee, who succeeded the network's founder, Robert Johnson, is shown as Debra Leevil, patterned after "Dr. Evil" in the "Austin Powers" films. Leevil declares in a staff meeting: "Our leader Bob Johnson had a dream, a dream that would accomplish what hundreds of years of slavery, Jim Crow and malt liquor could not accomplish -- the destruction of black people."

And BET President of Entertainment Reginald Hudlin is depicted as Wedgie Rudlin, a culturally insensitive buffoon coasting on his Ivy League education. Hudlin, a former friend of McGruder, is ironically credited as an executive producer on the series, the end result of a professional partnership that ended bitterly over creative differences before the series premiered in 2005.

A BET spokesperson said that the network was aware of the episodes and did not, as a network that runs its own satirical content, begrudge those who made fun of its programming.

The DVD release features stinging commentary from McGruder and Barnes about the episodes, which are uncut. In the introduction, McGruder said he went after BET because network executives, in his view, failed to elevate the network's standards -- something Hudlin had pointedly promised to do when joining the network three years ago.

"I was looking for changes and improvements, and I didn't see any," McGruder said on the DVD. "I didn't see them. So I said, OK, it's fair game. It's hard not to address it. It really was an important part of the strip." Because of legal reasons, he adds, he cannot mention the real names of the people satirized in the episodes.

Barnes added: "You expect white television to present black people in a particular way. The anger comes from black television portraying us in a particular way. That brings out a different sense of frustration, and at the heart of these episodes is that frustration."

Listened to it today, and...
I must admit, I'm impressed.
I can honestly say the only two tracks I don't like are Lollipop and Playing with Fire, and on a 16 track album (havent listened to the 2 bonus tracks yet) that's not bad at all. The hook to "Phone home" is wack, but the rest of that track is tight, and "La La" was okay, till Busta's verse came and he tore that shit up, and then "Mrs Officer" with Bobby Valentino was alright at best, but the rest of the album was either really good or great!
And considering how after Lollipop was released as the first single and all, so I got worried, I'm pretty damn happy with the finished product! Would put it with AZ  & Bun B for best albums so far this year. But with Cube, Nas, TIP, Luda, and possibly Em & Dre coming later this year, a lot could change!
