Detroit Piston’s center/forward Chris Webber will host his 2nd Annual Bada Bling Celebrity Weekend at Caesar’s Palace and various locations throughout Las Vegas July 20-22.

The celebrity weekend, which will be hosted by comedian Charlie Murphy, raises money for The Chris Webber Foundation, Webber’s nonprofit with an objective of increasing literacy among disadvantaged youth.

Hip-Hop artists Nas, Sway and are confirmed as guests, while Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick headline the event’s welcome party on July 20. Rap legend and DJ, Biz Markie will provide sounds for the evening.

“Service was instilled in me since I was child,” Webber said. “Even when I didn’t have as much as I have now, my parents always taught me and my siblings to give, regardless of how little we had. C-Webb’s Bada Bling Celebrity Weekend stems from the lessons my parents taught me, so this weekend is an opportunity to have a great time while also raising money to help the youth.”

The Isley Brothers, Howard Hewett and Raphael Saadiq are also confirmed performers during the weekend, which includes a celebrity poker tournament, a “Bada Bling Golf Challenge,” “The Bada Bling Soiree” an auction and other festivities.

Gary Payton, Jalen Rose, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hill Harper, Tichina Arnold and others are confirmed to attend Webber’s fundraiser, which is sponsored by Cadillac, who will provide VIP transportation for guests throughout the weekend in a special fleet of Escalades.

BET J will also tape a 30 minute special on Webber’s Bada Bling Weekend, which will air on BET at a later date.

In related news, Webber was recently recognized by the NBA and the California Black Caucus for his growing collection of African American artifacts and documents, now on public exhibit at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History until September 28, 2007 in Detroit.
