Though nothing is set in stone, it is reported that the movie would be based on Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money, + God, a book co-written by Simmons and Nelson George in 2002. Michael B. Jordan could be filling the role of Simmons while Jonah Hill is a possible fill-in for Rick Rubin. The film will reportedly tell the story of the early days of Def Jam and depict how hip-hop grew to become a powerful genre and culture.
