Besides music, the festival located at Brooklyn’s King’s Theatre also includes an art gallery featuring work by contemporary artists of the African diaspora. A special focus was placed on art and artists from Haiti.
“Diaspora Calling! is a collection of works intended to celebrate the rich tapestry of artists from the African Diaspora while also illumining persistent and irrepressible themes,” states Hill. “Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves.”
The Grammy winning singer-rapper will be joined at the showcase by Machel Montano, Stephen ‘Ragga’ Marley, Stonebwoy, Mr. Eazi, EL, Wondaboy, JoJo Abot and Paul Bearbrun. Diaspora Calling! Music Festival will be live streamed pre-paywall for fans and Tidal subscribers on TIDAL.com.
