(AllHipHop News) R&B star Frank Ocean has been named among the most influential members of the LGBTQ community in Out Magazine’s annual Power 50 list.

The “Thinkin Bout You” singer, who ‘came out’ as a gay man in 2012, makes his debut on the 2017 countdown, which recognizes people in the public eye who are making an effort to positively impact LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer) culture.

Naming Ocean in the annual poll, OUT reporters write: “After Ocean came out, his music career took on a vital, intersectional role, bringing male pronouns into romantic mainstream R&B and emphasizing the complexity of human sexuality.”

The new Power 50 is topped by U.S. newswoman Rachel Maddow, with CNN’s Anderson Cooper in second place, and comedienne and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres at three.

“Transparent” writer Jill Soloway takes fourth place, while Glee and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy is at five.

Actresses Kate McKinnon, Laverne Cox, and Ellen Page are also featured in the top half of the list, as are drag queen and TV personality RuPaul, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, and Oscar-winning “Moonlight” co-writer Tarell Alvin McCraney, who is another new face at 17.

Director Lee Daniels, fashion designer-turned-filmmaker Tom Ford, and transgender former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner also make the cut.
