Mass Appeal and Marvel Entertainment are teaming up to bring Hip-Hop legends into the comic book universe with a limited series titled Legend Has It…, launching October 10 at New York Comic Con.
The comic reimagines seven New York Hip-Hop pioneers—Nas, DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Raekwon, Big L, De La Soul and Slick Rick—as Marvel-style characters in a story that fuses music with myth.
“Working with Marvel on this comic is a celebration of Hip Hop and its legacy,” Nas said in a statement. “There’s a story we tell through our music, and watching that energy come to life in these pages is a tribute to the culture that shaped us and continues to inspire generations.”

The debut will be marked by a live panel at the Javits Center titled “Comics and Hip-Hop: A Marvel x Mass Appeal Conversation,” where creators will explore the intersection of superhero storytelling and Hip-Hop culture.
Mass Appeal will also host a live shopping event on Whatnot’s stage from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. ET the same day.
Writer Brandon Thomas, known for his work on Black Lightning, is scripting the series. Artist Sanford Greene, who illustrated Bitter Root and Doom, is handling the visuals.
According to a press release, the comic tells “an epic narrative that bridges music, myth, and legacy.”
The project ties into Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It… album series, which also features the same seven artists. Exclusive variant covers will be available for purchase at the convention.
