(AllHipHop News) Oprah Winfrey and Martin Luther King Jr is a gift in and of itself is a gift and its release date will drive that feeling home. Today (June 20th), it was announced that Oprah Winfrey’s film Selma on Martin Luther King’s 1965 voting rights movement will be released this Christmas.
The film, which stars Oprah Winfrey as lauded civil rights activist Annie Lee Cooper Cooper, is centered on King’s historic campaign towards the Voting Rights Act of 1965. British actor David Oyelowo will play King and the film is currently shooting in Altanta as well as Montgomery and Selma, Alabama.
The film will see a limited release this Christmas and then a full nationwide release on January 9th, 2015.
