We Found The Man Dancing Behind Teddy Riley Gleefully!

(AllHipHop Rumors) We were universally P##### off at Teddy Riley and although, he tried to include Babyface…it was him. Now, we ain’t hating on him, but we cannot diss Babyface like, because he was cool, calm, collected and prepared! Teddy was overly prepared. He was so overly prepared, he had a hypeman and dancer rolled into one.

That man was one of the bright spots, along with the subsequent memes.

I have found the man that danced his ass off for our joy!

His name is Breyon Prescott! Now, many people made the mistake of thinking he was a nobody or something, but he is an A&R, apparently at Epic Records. This man is a heavyweight in the game! Peep a couple of flicks.

By the way, they have rescheduled a new battle and they are calling it a rematch, which means Babyface won the first “bout.”

Ja Rule On Possible ‘Verzuz’ Battle With 50 Cent: I Would Never Want To Disrespect The Culture

(AllHipHop News) Will they ever actually go head-to-head on Instagram Live? That is the question a lot of Hip Hop fans were asking about a potential hits-for-hits battle between longtime rivals Ja Rule and 50 Cent.

Last week, Ja seemed interested in facing his nemesis as part of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz series. However, 50 laughed off the idea by posting on Instagram, “Who want to battle, and here’s a moment of silence for the still sick and suffering. LOL.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-8f_8QneSG

Hot 97’s Lisa Evers spoke to Ja Rule about a potential Instagram Live competition against 50 Cent. The “Put It on Me” hitmaker seemed to back away from the idea of clashing musically with the G-Unit leader as part of Swizz and Timbo’s ongoing IG battle presentations.

“I never back down from a battle. I love it. My catalog speaks for itself. I have a great catalog. It would be dope for Hip Hop. It would be fun, and it’s for the culture,” said Ja. “Verzuz is about love and respect for each other’s catalog, and what you’ve done for music, and what you contributed.”

Ja continued, “I don’t know if me and him can do that because we’re oil and water. I don’t know if that would work. Just for respect of the culture, I would never want to disrespect the culture and let me and his little thing get into the love and respect of what Versuz has brought to the culture, for artists’ catalog and the artistry. I would never want to tarnish that or mess that up.”

The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours’ Holds On To No. 1 For A Fourth Consecutive Week

(AllHipHop News) Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye has spent an entire month atop the Billboard 200 chart. The R&B/Pop singer’s After Hours studio LP earned the #1 spot once again this week.

With an additional 75,000 units, After Hours held off Tory Lanez’s The New Toronto 3. The fellow Canadian’s latest commercial mixtape launched with 64,000 units to open at #2, giving Lanez his fifth Top 5 entry.

The Weeknd became the first act to score four consecutive weeks at #1 since Drake pulled off the accomplishment with Scorpion in 2018. Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial has spent a total of four non-consecutive weeks at the apex.

Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial remained at #7 on the latest Billboard 200 rankings. Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake (#3), Lil Baby’s My Turn (#4), Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding (#6), and Rod Wave’s Pray 4 Love (#9) currently hold Top 10 positions as well.

Swizz Beatz Announces Teddy Riley Versus Babyface Battle Rematch

(AllHipHop News) The first Teddy Riley/Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds Verzuz battle did not turn out as planned. After initially being postponed because Babyface was ill, the match-up on April 18 still failed to deliver all the planned rounds due to technical difficulties.

Swizz Beatz informed his Instagram followers that Riley versus Babyface II is happening tonight (April 20). The Verzuz series organizer wrote on IG, “Let’s get back to the LOVE of music this Monday 8pm est less will be more & sounds will be fixed Sound checks done .”

Iconic singer-songwriter Babyface posted on his Instagram page, “Thank you everyone for being there for us.” New Jack Swing originator Teddy Riley added, “Let’s get back to the love of music this Monday 8pm! .”

The original battle on Saturday left most viewers disappointed, but the virtual concert reportedly broke the Instagram Live viewership record. Over 400,000 users tuned into the faceoff at one point. Plus, the event dominated the trending topics section on Twitter.

Riley vs. Babyface spawned countless memes across the internet. A lot of the jokes were focused on the fact that Riley (52) and Babyface (61) were probably too old to understand how social media works. Even R&B legend Toni Braxton tweeted, “Are we really starting over? I’m sorry I gotta make dinner this is like watching old folks use Jitterbug phones.”

Police Make Arrests And Issue Summons To 60 People Over Rap Video Shoot In Brooklyn

(AllHipHop News) Police shut down a large party in Brooklyn on Saturday night that led to 60 summonses and two arrests.

According to NBC New York, Police were called to the Avenue L block at about 10:45 p.m, where they broke up the party at a barbershop. The party reportedly began as a video shoot for rapper Kelly King Kelly, but police later confirmed that the gathering was tied to gambling.

In a report by AM NY, about 100 officers were on the scene where two guns were found.

A 30-year-old named Jamel Dorsett was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and given a summons for the gathering.

Also charged was 28-year-old Kayla Phillips, who was also arrested on the same counts, in addition to criminal possession of a forged instrument and criminal trespassing.

New York has banned large non-essential gatherings since March 22 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state has repeatedly ordered New Yorkers to follow social distancing rules. Mayor Bill de Blasio discussed the incident during his conference Sunday morning.

“I want to say thank you to the officers who broke it up, but I also want to send a message to the young people to think about the aunts, uncles, and grandparents who you may bring this to,” de Blasio stated. “We need to be safe, so getting together for a party – they can pick up the virus and pass it from one person to another and go home and give it to a relative. It is not business as usual – shouldn’t be partying in the middle of a pandemic.”

Gucci Mane Makes Light Of The Murder Of Jeezy’s Man

(AllHipHop Rumors) I thought Ja Rule and 50 Cent were bad, but Jeezy and Gucci are a close 2nd. And Gucci made that super clear by posting a meme that explicitly talks about that time he killed one of Jeezy’s men in self-defense.

For those that don’t remember, these dudes had a serious beef. At one point, after going back and forth, Jeezy issued a challenge to his listeners through a song “Stay Strapped.” The song was a classic, but people took it seriously. Jeezy told people to snatch Gucci’s chain and he would slide them $10 Gs. Men ran up in Gucci’s crib, but LaFlare had the strap. A man was found dead in a ditch, if memory served me correct. Gucci went to jail but beat the case. This was 15 years ago!!

In the year 2020, he posted the following.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Gucci Mane (@laflare1017)

A few days ago, he said he hoped his haters die of coronavirus. I can’t see this is the refined, svelt Gucci we have come to know. This is like the old Gucci. Maybe he’s trying to remind us that he’s not a clone.

Blueface Hosts Music Video Shoot Which Turns Into Fight

(AllHipHop News) Blueface held a music video shoot at his California home with tons of video girls Saturday, which ended up turning into a brawl.

The “Thotiana” rapper, who clearly defied the social distancing rules, had a bunch of half-naked girls dancing in a bedroom when a fight suddenly erupted between two women.

The fight, which was captured on Blueface’s Instagram stories, escalated and moved from room to room. Several of the girls and security attempted to separate the never-ending fight. In one clip, you can even see a young woman’s wig being snatched off.

The girl who got her wig ripped off took to Twitter about the situation.

“Y’all… Blueface invited me to his video shoot and this girl had the nerve to say, ‘leave you ugly darkskin b##ch’ ‘you bald because you dark skinned you ugly b##ch’ ‘yo kick this black hoe out’…all for no reason? What is this bulls##t occurring for in 2020?” she wrote. The rapper later addressed the claims and said there was “no one was being racist” and that the fight wasn’t about him.

EXCLUSIVE: Jay-Z And Timbaland Beat 81-Year-Old Musician In $2 Million Sample Battle

(AllHipHop News) Super producer Timbaland and Jay-Z have beaten an elderly musician in a $2 million legal battle over claims they stole his song and never paid him a dime.

Ernie Hines filed the complaint against Timbaland and Jay in May of 2019, claiming they made millions by sampling his song “Help Me Put Out the Flame (In My Heart).”

Hines said the pair used it in two songs, “Toe 2 Toe” by Ginuwine and “Paper Chase” featuring Foxy Brown, from Jay’s#### album Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life.

Ernie Hines said the superstar pair acknowledged him as the writer in the credits, but he was never compensated for his work because he is a “senior citizen (and) does not listen to rap music.”

In October of 2019, Jay-Z’s lawyer moved to have the whole case dismissed, after Hines tried to amend his lawsuit. Furthermore, Hines did serve Jay or Tim with the lawsuits within the court-mandated time period of 90 days.

Earlier this week, Hines, 81, was handed a defeat for being too slow to bring the action against Jay-Z and Timbaland.

“Hines has not demonstrated a diligent or “reasonable” attempt at timely service of process,” Judge J. Paul Oetken ruled. “Hines alleges only one (unsuccessful) attempt to serve Jay-Z within the requisite ninety-day period. And Hines does not allege even a single timely attempt to serve Timbaland. Such desultory attempts cannot qualify as “reasonable” efforts to effect service. Furthermore, Hines did not move for an extension of time to serve either Jay-Z or Timbaland until after the expiration of the deadline for service of process.”

The crushing blow came when Judge Oetken dismissed key copyright claims against Roc-A-Fella Records.

“The complaint in this case entirely fails to identify which elements of ‘Help Me’ were infringed or which elements of ‘Paper Chase’ and ‘Toe 2 Toe’ are infringing. The complaint contains only broad allegations of similarity. These ‘vague and general allegations of similarity’ do not suffice,” Judge Oetken ruled.

The lawsuit may not be over though, depending on how aggressive Ernie Hines wants to be in defending his copyright for “Help Me Put Out the Flame (In My Heart).”

Judge Oetken granted Hines’ motion for leave to file an amended lawsuit, as long as he pays Roc-A-Fella’s legal bill for defending their motion to dismiss the original complaint.

Now Hines has 60 days to decide if he wants to take another crack at Jay-Z and Timbaland. If he doesn’t Judge Oetken will dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice.

Game Doubles Down On Vow To Ignore $7 Million Judgment

(AllHipHop News) Compton rapper Game has doubled down on his face how to never pay a woman who he claims wrongfully accused him of sexual assault.

Game recently lost his record label LA Prolific and the royalties to Born 2 Rap to a woman he allegedly sexually assaulted named Priscilla Rainey.

Rainey sued The Game in 2015, after claiming that she was touched inappropriately by the rapper during the taping of his reality show “She Got Game.”

She was later awarded a $7,130,100 judgment after Game failed to appear in court.

According to a previous report by AllHipHop, Game has been ordered by Judge Virginia A. Phillips to pay up until the judgment is paid off. “All third parties who receive notice of this Order are directed to pay any and all money or property due, or to become due, under this Order, directly to Plaintiff either: (1) by check payable to “Priscilla Rainey,” and delivered to Plaintiff’s counsel” until the judgment is satisfied in full,” Judge Virginia A. Phillips stated.

Game has responded to the headlines and claims that Rainey won’t be getting money from him.

He wrote a long message on Instagram which was screenshotted by The Shade Room stating, People out here dying from the rona… n blogs out here creating false narratives for this Waffle House roach who doing anything her thirsty ass can to try n take money from me.”

The Game continued, “I’m enjoying retirement !! Y’all been saying she got 7 million for 7 years & yet here I am, laid up tipsy off my 5th quarantine watching Tiger King lol…..”.

The long message was paired with a video of stacks of money and the rapper eating a bowl of cereal.

The Game Responds To Woman Taking Born 2 Rap Money!

(AllHipHop Rumors) The Game has repeatedly stated that he ain’t giving any money to a woman that won a $7 million judgment against him for sexual assault. He maintains his innocence and isn’t willing to comply. Well, the woman recently got a new “win” by the judge that may not work out for her either. But first, The Game wanted all of us to know that he has a lot of money still. Check out the video.

Those are some perfect bucks! I’d love it if Game would give me like one stack! It seems like The Game’s manager Wack 100 is the financial beneficiary of the opus. I hope they do not get themselves in more trouble, buy brazenly bragging about stuff like this.

This is going to be a long game of cat-n-mouse. I guess The Game will just have to trust Wack 100 here on, if he is going to fully push all his monies through to him. Scary proposition.

Qveen Herby Has Sold Millions As Part Of Karmin. Can She Do It Again Solo?

Qveen Herby is back and better than ever before. Hailing from Kansas City but now calling Los Angeles home, the singer, songwriter, and rapper returns after a short hiatus, discovering and figuring out who she is not only in the music industry, but as a person.

Coming up in a duo as one-half of Karmin and selling multiple Platinum records (such as “Brokenhearted”), Qveen Herby, real name Amy Noonan has a newfound love and respect for her solo artistry.

Her sound and styles transcends the genres of contemporary pop, R&B, and hip-hop, proving no lane is out of reach if you work hard and commit. The result arrives in the form of uplifting, feel-good records for her growing fanbase.

Her recent departure from a major label gave her the freedom to be as creative as she wishes, utilizing her talents in all facets of her life. Most recently, she unleashed the official music video for her new single “Check,” directly inspired by Missy Elliot’s timeless hit “I’m Really Hot.” Fans can also look forward to her debut album and tour, following a series of 10 EPs that coincide with the seasons.

AllHipHop caught up with Qveen Herby in downtown Los Angeles, who describes her recent journey as “reborn.”

AllHipHop: For those who don’t know, who is Qveen Herby?

Qveen Herby: I was born Qveen Herby. She took a little detour and tried to get her bag, then came back to what she really wanted to do. Qveen actually was my nickname in college. Recently I found out I’m Russian, which is why the Qv een.

AllHipHop: You never knew you were Russian?

Qveen Herby: No, my whole family’s like “oh yeah, we’re just German white people.” I’m like cool! I took one of those DNA tests, I’m 70% Russian.

AllHipHop: What made you take the DNA test?

Qveen Herby: I wanted to know. I found I’m 2% Asian, I’m like “yes, at least I’m not just German.” My history, my family doesn’t know where the first one came from. It was like a bastard child. For genetics too, it’s cool to know I have a mix of things.

AllHipHop: Being from Nebraska, what was that like growing up?

Qveen Herby: Oh man, I compare it to living in a bunker. It was Jesus everything, which is great. I’m really grateful for my work ethic and my morals. But when I got to the city, I’m like “ooh.” This is the music I’m obsessed with, but there were literally no black people. Growing up in Nebraska, I was obsessed with R&B music. Because it was a religious household, we weren’t allowed to listen to rap. I’d get the rap feature on the Mariah [Carey] single only. I thought everybody must rap, it’s not a big deal. But in 2011 when I blew up on YouTube rapping, I found out not everybody does this. So I had a lot of studying to do, to catch up.

AllHipHop: What studying did you have to do to catch up?

Qveen Herby: I first jumped into Snoop Dogg, the Doggystyle album. A Tribe Called Quest, Low End Theory. It was trying to understand the art form of rap, because it’s so different from singing. R&B is very sweet and romantic, or at least it was in the 90’s when I was growing up. Rap has changed so drastically since then, so it’s been fun to be a part of that wave and getting into trap music. Everything changed.

AllHipHop: Did you want to be in the urban space back then?

Qveen Herby: I still hate the word “urban.” I didn’t understand it.

AllHipHop: I don’t like it either, I didn’t know what else to say.

Qveen Herby: Right, what else do we say? I thought “I don’t belong to this culture.” The Chronic, 2001, the Dre albums, omg. If you would’ve told me back then as a little girl that I’d someday be rapping, I’d never believe you. I didn’t know what b##ches and hoes were, but it sounded great. I’m totally the token white girl who came from a farm and f##king blew up from rapping. Signed a big record deal with L.A. Reid who I expected to teach me the whole game, which he did in a lot of ways. But as soon as we signed, he’s like “we have to beat Katy Perry.” It was disappointing.

AllHipHop: Bring me back to the YouTube rapping. What were you like then and how were you putting your content out? Did it pick up organically?

Qveen Herby: We were two broke kids in Boston, just finished music school. It’s funny we’re talking now because it was the last recession in 2010. We did about a year of weekly covers on YouTube. We’d do the popular songs. A lot of the popular songs had raps in them, I’d just do it. “I’m covering the song, I’m not going to f##k it up.”

“Look At Me Now” blew up, real organic. We didn’t have people working for us, none of that. We had to learn really fast what to do. We didn’t really know what we were trying to be. We met with Jermaine Dupri, he had a really cool plan to write records for us and have us cover them. He’s like “well you’re not urban kids, you don’t understand the genre.” We met with Kanye, who’s like “oh I’ll put you in the studio for 8 years.” Looking back, that would’ve been a good move.

AllHipHop: How was that meeting with Ye?

Qveen Herby: It was amazing. It was like this [one on one], but at the hotel in Tribeca. The one that’s a triangle. He came down because they’re recording Watch The Throne upstairs. I thought “is this really happening?” The same day we met with L.A. Reid, I’m like “what do we do? Who do we sign to?”

AllHipHop: So you signed with L.A. Reid as the duo Karmin. What happened with Karmin?

Qveen Herby: Yeah, we had a couple Platinum records. We got our bag, and we got out. We’re like “it’s time to do what we want.”

AllHipHop: You mean the solo thing?

Qveen Herby: That’s what it turned into. It’s funny because it was about me and my man at the time. Me and Nick were Karmin, we were all over everything. The more we learned, he turned into a producer. We got all these sessions with big producers. He’s always been a producer-minded guy, and he was tired of doing choreography. He’s like “I’m not a boy band.” It worked out perfectly, to know that a romantic couple could go through all that s##t and still come out of it. Still want to build.

AllHipHop: I didn’t know that you guys were a couple. This is your husband?

Qveen Herby: 15 years. We met when we were 19, at music school. I know, it makes no sense.

AllHipHop: That’s so cute!

Qveen Herby: It’s cute, but it’s real. It’s hard. There are days when we want to kill each other, but he pushes me and I trust him more than anyone to get it done. For Qveen Herby, we brought on our friend PomanoPuff, who’s worked with Kodak Black and Nicki [Minaj]. He’s got really good cuts. He loves our musicality and he’s not trained, which is really important. If you’re a trained musician, you always need somebody who has raw talent to keep it fresh. Our common thread is that we all love Kanye. No matter what he does or says, we think he’s the greatest artist of our time.

AllHipHop: What do you like about Kanye?

Qveen Herby: We always talk about how when he drops a record, it’s always 2 or 3 years early. People aren’t ready for it, just now I’m like “omg, Life of Pablo.” But it was My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, that’s our favorite #1 album. We knew if we could all agree on this, we could probably make some really good s##t.

AllHipHop: You released “Vitamins” at the end of last year, talk about coming back with a brand new style.

Qveen Herby: That was EP 7. That’s another thing, we’re not doing albums. We’re going to drop EPs. I’m really inspired by fashion designers, they get 4 seasons a year. I want Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. It gives us a chance to evolve and gives the fans something fresh. It’s not any lower quality than an album. People are always like “where’s the album?” I’m giving you half an album every 3 months. It’s getting a lot of attention now of course because the lyrics are “working out, sleeping in, and taking vitamins.”

AllHipHop: Literally! But you can’t even workout right now.

Qveen Herby: Yeah, our gym closed this morning. So crazy, but you do need to do your jumping jacks.

AllHipHop: How have you been adapting to the Coronavirus madness?

Qveen Herby: I’m an empath because you feel everybody’s vibrations and you can’t help but let it affect you. You’re embarrassed you let it affect you. I’m supposed to be out here as this boss b##ch, all my music is empowering. You’re the s##t, confidence. I felt like s##t all weekend, but now this is an opportunity to level up like we’ve never seen in our lifetime.

Even in China, they have clear skies right now. There’s no smog, because it’s been shut down for two months. “The same amount of darkness means there exists the same amount of light.” You have to choose which one to look at. If it’s a really dark time, it means there’s a lot of good s##t happening, which is where I’m at today.

AllHipHop: Why is self-care a full-time job?

Qveen Herby: For all of human history, we haven’t put a focus on it. It’s not about you, but it is. Without empowering yourself, what the f##k good are you to anybody else? This past week was a great example, I was really down in the dumps. I have a list of all these things I can do to get out of funks, but it comes down to you having to do it for yourself. That’s what happened with my career so far.

Even with music, until I took the time to focus on myself and call myself Qveen, I wasn’t putting myself first. I was doing it for L.A. Reid, I was doing it for my parents. I was censoring myself for my young audience. I woke up one day completely unhappy, with a bunch of money I never had before. I’m like “wait, I have an opportunity to look at the light in the situation and make something dope.”

AllHipHop: When did you make the decision to call yourself Qveen?

Qveen Herby: Qveen was almost June 2017, so it’s only been a couple years. But I‘d never go back. People ask “is Karmin coming back?” No sis, no! It’s over. I love you. Stream Qveen!

AllHipHop: What do you do to de-stress?

Qveen Herby: I added a new thing today, a breathing exercise. I have to look up the name of it, it’s this dude. Gwenyth Paltrow did a series with her Goop team, her lifestyle brand. They go and do drugs together. Like Chelsea Handler, but the pink, soft version. She doesnt say “f##k” as much, she’s brilliant. She’s been around, doing her thing. This guy basically can eradicate disease from his body. They’ve tested him. He does all this breathing, almost makes you hyperventilate and hold your breath to oxygenate your cells. Definitely, exercise is huge. Whatever that means to you: yoga, stretching, lavender baths. People sleep on bath tubs.

AllHipHop: I try to meditate but it’s so hard for me.

Qveen Herby: Meditation is really hard, I hate it. But if you’re really in a bad rut, you have to go in. You have to stop putting your energy out. Recharging, but spoiling yourself too. Even if it means buying clothes or retail therapy. I do drink. Cannabis is wonderful. CBD for anti-inflammatories. I don’t like to promote cannabis to my fans because I know some people can’t do it. It doesn’t work. You have friends that get paranoid, I don’t want to give anybody a panic attack but it’s an amazing medicine! Amazing for a lot of us.

AllHipHop: What does female empowerment mean to you?

Qveen Herby: It’s like the self-care conversation, we’ve never put an importance on it. As a human race, we’ve never put importance on the female. We’ve actually pushed them down in every possible way. Being a female rapping in a male-dominated genre, and wearing glasses — people are so shook about me wearing glasses. Everybody always makes fun of girls for wearing glasses. “Oh you look like a nerd” or “you’re ugly.” I’m going to wear glasses in my biggest moments to make sure that we are seen.

AllHipHop: “Check” is a banger. Who or what inspired this one?

Qveen Herby: Yesss! Missy Elliot for sure, Timbaland. We found out they sampled a hip-hop song from the 80’s called “Wild Thing.” I didn’t know that, it’s “I’m really, really hot, mmm.” You recognize the beat when you hear it. We got her permission to drop it, I’m like “this is amazing, I can quit now. I’m done.” There were so many different writers, so many interesting people we met through the process of getting it cleared. You know you’re on the right track when s##t lines up. Timbaland was someone we talked to many years ago trying to sign a deal.

AllHipHop: Why are there no names on your EPs?

Qveen Herby: Because it’s like fashion seasons: season 1, season 2. You know how dramatic it is? I don’t want to make fun of any names but the album will have a name, for sure. I want to go to 10. I want to get my perfect batch of EPs. People always give me s##t for dropping so frequently, yo I’m independent. They had a graph in Forbes about the top independent artists, I’m in the top 1%. So don’t f##king talk to me about dropping. These labels have people wait 2 or 3 years for an album… like no.

AllHipHop: Did you fulfill your contract with Epic or did you get out of your deal?

Qveen Herby: We had to ask. We had to call Mr. Reid and beg to be released. Of course, it came out that we were dropped. Whatever, don’t care. He’s like “whenever you guys want to come back, welcome you with open arms.” I haven’t hit him up because it was a crazy experience. I love having control so much.

AllHipHop: What did you learn from that experience?

Qveen Herby: Everything. I have all the tea. My friend Shane Dawson does these crazy conspiracy theories on YouTube, I’m like “bro, we have to do a full out brawl on the music industry.” I know how it all works.

AllHipHop: Are you shedding light on it to people?

Qveen Herby: I’d like to. I’m waiting for the right moment. It’s a delicate balance of when do you have enough power to actually make a difference? A lot of my followers are artists too: music, painters, documentary people. I want to show them you can create a sustainable career that’s creative. There’s graphs on Forbes, signed artists don’t necessarily do better. One of my friends got a sync so he can eat for 6 months, but imagine if you owned all the masters to your music. Now there’s programs that’ll pay you every month for master royalties. Publishing is dinky, it’s micro-penis compared to owning your masters and people don’t know. They don’t want you to know.

AllHipHop: You mean services like DistroKid?

Qveen Herby: DistroKid. I love Stem, they’ll help you one on one.

AllHipHop: They’re very female empowerment right?

Qveen Herby: Very. My girl Milana is the head of Stem and she’s a badass. She has a picture of me in her office, so I can quit now. [laughs]

AllHipHop: What are some goals for yourself as an artist?

Qveen Herby: To be honest, I gave up on singing years ago. I always say I quit singing, the less you try the better you sound honestly. The same goes for my writing. It’s gotten really interesting to the point where we’re making bops and it’s easy. I’m watching because I know every artist has a peak of their creativity. I’m trying to make as much music as I can right, I’m in my f##king zone. In my quarantine zone! I’ve only tasted what it means to have a big song a little. My biggest song was #15 on the Billboard charts, that was crazy.

AllHipHop: What song was that?

Qveen Herby: It was “Brokenhearted.” “Acapella” didnt chart as high, but it sold more in the long run which is interesting. That one’s much more of what we’re doing now. I’m preparing myself mentally for this. Before I didn’t have a sense of purpose, my goal now is to be as prepared as possible to be a good leader. To contribute in a meaningful way to hip-hop because it’s been a really crazy relationship between me and-hip hop this whole time.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let us know?

Qveen Herby: Tour will be whenever this s##t blows over. I was supposed to go in May. They said “don’t even talk to us until July.” b##ch, my fans are p#####. They were ready. We have vinyls, all the merch ordered. At least we didn’t book it, I feel really bad for people who have to cancel. One of my friends flew to Colombia to start tour overseas, FaceTiming us like “I’m coming home.” Tour will be poppin’. Maybe this is the universe saying “hold up, you might have to book bigger rooms b##ch.” I’m here for that!

Akon Offers Unwavering Support For Tekashi 6ix9ine

(AllHipHop News) Akon joined DJ Whoo Kid on Instagram Live this week and shared some interesting thoughts during the session.

Akon expressed his support for the controversial Tekashi 6ix9ine.

Referring to 23-year-old Tekashi as young, inexperienced, and uneducated, Akon defended the rapper and his past mistakes.

He even took it further stating that Tekashi shouldn’t have been in the position to snitch and the importance of watching one’s circle.

“There’s no reason why he should have been in the position where he snitched,” Akon said. “His homies should have took that for him. Them ni##as that claim to be real Gs and all that, they should have took that for him ’cause he’s the football. You always protect the football.”

He concluded, “You don’t ever put the artist in the position where he has to cover for y’all.”

He also stated later in the Instagram live, “That’s why I’m not so quick to judge him because I don’t know exactly what’s happening behind closed doors that may not be explained or maybe out to the public to know.”

Aside from his thoughts on the Tekashi situation, DJ Whoo Kid asked Akon if he is going to download the rapper’s next album when it drops.

Akon then exclaimed, “I’ma feature on that record!”

He continued, claiming that the song would be the biggest drop of the year, “…Even if you don’t like him, you gon’ get it, download it just out of curiosity.”

French Montana Predicts Some Rappers Will Have “Garage Auctions”

(AllHipHop News) French Montana recently spoke on about COVID-19 and how it’s affecting a lot of rappers’ finances.

Video chatting from his home, a quarantined French told TMZ that the pandemic has taught him to practice gratitude for the things he has.

He also shared that everyone is being put to the test, specifically rappers.

“Everybody’s getting put to test about one thing and one thing only, was you saving money when you was rapping?” he stated, calling out rappers. “Did you build the capital? Did you build a retirement plan? Since I been working, I always would spend and I would save. I always dreamed about a beautiful exit one day. I always save money for a rainy day…”

He went on saying that there will be a lot of “garage auctions” because many rappers are living check to check and don’t practice smart saving habits.

French also discussed his love for directing and that he’s currently working on a documentary about his life.

French Montana also made headlines earlier this week, after the unexpected happened on Instagram live.

The rapper squashed his 15-year beef with Jim Jones. The quarantine brought the two together to sort out their differences on live for fans to see.

CoreDJs Music Group Premieres: Encrowd Kizzy “Street Love”

When one listens to the new song “Street Love” by Encrowd Kizzy featuring G The Singer, you know immediately, “that’s a hit record.” It’s one of those timeless renditions of a classic song that most people don’t touch especially if the original song was made by an R&B diva who can still sell out a venue, singing her old hits, to this day.

G The Singer doesn’t ruin it for those of us that remember the original “Sweet Love” and for the millennials who never experienced Queen Anita Baker’s version, this song introduces young lovers to some real classic soul.

Kizzy’s flow is perfect over the melodic harmonies and the duo accomplish something beautiful without overselling it. “Street Love” will be a favorite during the quarantine and after it’s over, just in time for “sundress season.”

We caught up with Kizzy, just before the pandemic lockdown and this is what the St. Louis native had to say.

AllHipHop: Does your name have a significant meaning?

Kizzy: An old group member back in the day said I had multiple personalities and I use to go by the name Ray Da Kidd but when I would rap, I would say Kizzy and it stuck.

AllHipHop: How long have you been active in the music game?

Kizzy: About 9 years now but I’ve been back grinding hard the last 2/1/2 years, independently, until I met co-CEO and founder of the Core DJs Music Group, K.Epps the Boss.

AllHipHop: How are you going to approach the game as an artist?

Kizzy: Man, I’m (low key) just planning to hit it straight on! Not too much shakes me or get me out of my element but I’m hungry and patient. Plus I’m with a dope team and label.

AllHipHop: Who are some of the artists and producers you’ve worked with for your new music?

Kizzy: No one with a big name, just a few producers in and out of the country but no big features yet.

AllHipHop: Who would you say are your greatest influences in music today?

Kizzy: It would be Kevin Gates, Derez Dashon, and Hov hands down! It’s gotta be real s##t to touch your soul.

AllHipHop: There’s a lot of major artists that came from your city and there’s a lot of talent in the Lou so what are you bringing new to the game for the culture?

Kizzy: St.Louis artists never get their respect for being real and I just wanna drop my street life story from my perspective. My new single “Street Love” is the story of a hustler who meets the right woman he knows he can shape and groom to be a queen. A feel-good record for the ladies who know how to hold a man down.

AllHipHop: So with the climate of today’s artists using ghostwriters, would you use any and have you done any songs for any artists out there now?

Kizzy: No Ghostwriter for me but I would buy a dope beat and a hook, no cap! But I write my own lyrics! For the last year in a half, I actually was back and forth to Cali writing at Warner Bros with my A&R homie Byron B

AllHipHop: Where can fans and followers find you on social media?

Kizzy: Encrowd_Kizzy on IG & Twitter and you can find all my music and visuals on www.KIZZY314.com

AllHipHop: Thanks Kizzy and Good luck!

Teddy Riley vs Babyface Was An Epic Fail!

(AllHipHop Rumors) The battle of super producers Teddy Riley and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds ended in a technical mess after over 400,000 people logged on to Instagram to watch.

The battled was highly-doubled over the course of a couple of weeks but ended in a technical debacle Saturday night (April 18). Both men are R&B legends, but Teddy has a bit of a Hip-Hop spin. Either way, it was TRASH! Most people blame Teddy Riley for the way things turned out.

Teddy’s sound had this horrible echo and then it was too low. Honestly, he was doing THE MOST, because he had a full set up….DJ, backup dancer…hypeman and nobody was social distancing. And it still got messed up! Babyface, on the other hand, was in a studio ALONE. He just beat coronavirus.

The battle started at 9pm EST, but by 10:30 PM, Babyface quit, stating that it would be rescheduled. I don’t think he is coming back, but we’ll see. His exact words were, “I think that it’s only right that we postpone this thing until another time when there aren’t any technical difficulties, and everybody can hear the music the way it needs to be heard.”

As far as I am concerned, Babyface won the first bout. Now, it is up to Teddy to even the score going forward.

Here is Babyface’s message.
