Kodak Black Facing 30 More Years Over New Gun Charges

(AllHipHop News) Kodak Black is looking at a whole lot of time in prison.

Earlier this week, the “Tunnel Vision” rapper was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for lying on a federal application to buy three guns.

Prosecutors consider Kodak Black, real name Bill K. Kapri a “habitual violent offender,” who is now facing up to 30 more years in prison over two new gun charges filed by the state.

These new charges arrive over allegations that two of those guns he bought were discovered at two different crime scenes.

The firearms were allegedly used in two different attacks on his enemies, but he was not charged in incidents at the time the evidence was discovered.

When Kodak Black was sentenced for lying on his gun application, he apologized for his mistakes, but the judge was unmoved.

According to the Miami Herald, Judge Federico Moreno refused to cut the rapper any slack and sentenced him to almost four years in prison.

“Young people do stupid things and I normally give them a break for that,” Judge Moreno said as he sentenced Kodak Black. “The problem is that you have been doing stupid things since 15.”

Kodak Black is also facing another 30 years in prison and South Carolina, over an alleged rape in Florence back in February of 2016.

Rodney Reed Gets Stay Of Execution After Political And Celebrity Pressure

(AllHipHop News) pressure from celebrities like Meek Mill, Beyonce, and Kim Kardashian have helped spare the life of a death row inmate.

Rodney Reed was originally scheduled to be executed on November 20th.

Rodney is currently on death row in Livingston, Texas for murdering Stacey Stites in 1996, where cops said he raped, assaulted and strangled her to death. Reed has maintained his innocence of killing her for over two decades now.

But a panel of experts, as well as dozens of celebrities believed there was concrete evidence to prove he is innocent for the murder he was accused of committing more than two decades ago.

Fortunately for both, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals issued a stay of execution and recommended a 120-day reprieve.

Earlier this week, Kim flew to Texas with her husband Kanye West for his forthcoming performance at Joel Osteen’s church.

Authorities granted her special permission to meet with Rodney Reed face to face.

Lawyers for the Innocence Project, which represented Rodney Reed, set the reprieve would give them more time to make their case for his innocence.

“This opportunity will allow for proper consideration of the powerful and mounting new evidence of Mr. Reed’s innocence,” the organization said in a press release.

Lil Reese Leaves Hospital, Gucci Mane Addresses Rumors, RIP Nipsey Hussle

(AllHipHop Rumors) Lil Reese was shot and for a second there, I thought he might be really messed up. There were reports that he was “good” and there were reports that he was in critical condition. Well, it looks like he’s GOOD GOOD!

He didn’t say much and he didn’t show his neck, but it looks like he really is good. I hope whoever shot him is in hiding! Lil Reese is more than a rapper out in these streets!

JUSTICE FOR NIPSEY!

Eric Holder tried it! The alleged (confirmed) killer of one of the dopest, Nipsey Hussle tried to have his case tossed. He didn’t try to toss the killing of King Nip…no there were two other men present that resulted in a pair of attempted murder charges. Basically, the lawyers are trying to say their client didn’t try to kill them at all. Apparently there is a “kill zone theory” that DOES NOT APPLY! Long story short – the judge said “NAH!” Homie still faces one count of murder, one count of firearm possession by a felon, and two counts of attempted murder! By the way, I know this isn’t a rumor, but I decided to post it anyway.

For Fun…DID GUCCI MANE HAVE SURGERY!?

Gucci Mane has had the most insane glow up in the history of rap! Rappers have long tried to get their bodies in shape! But there is only on dude that has gone from a fat trap star to a model rap star! That is Gucci Mane. Now, I personally gave his wife all the praise. All hail Keyshia Ka’oir! She’s a baddie! But, some have said that her alleged cosmetic ways have come over to her man. Now I have heard a lot about her. I heard she has rib removal surgery and no longer has a belly button. That simply isn’t true, because I just saw her belly button! But now they are saying that Gucci has…possibly done some surgeries to get that chiseled body. For the record I don’t go around looking at men’s bodies! But this is the rumor section and this is what they are talking about!

Check it! Even Gucci has said something about it.

Cash Money Founders Birdman & Slim Explain Importance Of Feeding Community For Thanksgiving

(AllHipHop News) Rap moguls Bryan “Birdman” Williams and his brother Ronald “Slim” Williams are heading home to New Orleans to feed the local community for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The bosses of Cash Money Records will be in New Orleans on November 26th, to host their annual free turkey giveaway, as well as sides.

For the 23rd year, the brothers co-host the food drive through their Johnny and Gladys Williams Foundation, which is their non-profit named after their parents.

“As much as the legacy of Cash Money belongs to us, it also belongs to the city of New Orleans. Our greatest success was being able to go home once a year, be on those same streets we grew up on, and prop up our brothers and sisters in the neighborhood,” Bryan “Birdman” Williams explained. “That’s what this label was always about. There’s nothing more important as far as I’m concerned—and never will be anything more important. It comes before anything.”

Once again, the Williams brothers have partnered with New Home Full Gospel Ministries to host the event, while Walmart provided the turkeys, and Rouses donates the sides and fixings.

The brothers have also organized a variety of events for local health screening services for local community members, courtesy of Ochsner Health Systems.

Testing for glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure, dental care, eye exams, quick look EKG’s, stroke assessment, kidney disease, prenatal care, and diabetes screenings will be available.

“It’s incredible to think we’ve been doing The Turkey Giveaway for 23 years,” added Ronald “Slim” Williams. “I really believe it’s the most important thing we do. New Orleans made us. It’s a part of who we are. So, there’s no better feeling than giving back to our home. Every year, we try to do more, but it’ll never be enough to thank the city for everything it’s given to us and our families.”

The Cash Money turkey giveaway will take place at New Home Full Gospel Ministries from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on November 26th.

Big Sean And Jhene Aiko Give TMI On New Song! WHOA!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Mayne! When I saw Big Sean and Jhene Aiko were trending, I thought they may have gone on and gotten married again. They are not fooling me! I know they love each other! However, when I went to social media to see what the hubbub was all about, I learned far more than I wanted to know about these two. Now that I think about it, It was just Big Sean that was trending!

https://twitter.com/TropicanaHaze/status/1195220223902863360

It’s almost like 13-year olds are dominating the set and forcing this content to the top. What grown a$$ woman is talking like this in the open market.  ANYWAY, Big Sean got on Jhene Aiko (his ex) song and bragged about his sex game. Sheesh!

But every time I lay down I think about you naked
And if you find my replacement, how could you?
I made you c## nine times in one day
Your two lips should come in a vase, you rode my face
I realize you look as good as you taste, hmm (Yeah)

Now, the tone of this song is not really that sexual. That is just what people are saying thanks to big buster Sean. Jhene is a lil’ bitty thing! Anyway, her part of the song is a bit more emotive. PEEP:

I was traumatized and suicidal, I’m sick and tired, I am not to blame
Once I felt the wave and not today, I’m not afraid, now I can say
Get your b#### ass off of my phone, please leave me alone
I am not your girl anymore, you need to watch your tone
Don’t worry about who it is I’m f#####’ or who I am lovin’, just know that it is not you
This isn’t up for discussion, I wish you good luck man

Very different, right? Some of the women were actually upset about this CHASM in tone. He’s talking sex and she is talking love…and all the trappings! All in all, we wonder if the are going to get back together. Their joint album, 2016’s Twenty88, was a solid album that got the people talking like they are now.

Rapper Brisco Admits He Tried To Sell $150,000 In Fake Money To Undercover Cop

(AllHipHop News) Florida rapper Brisco will be cooling his heels behind bars for the next few years, after getting busted with hundreds-of-thousands of dollars in fake cash.

Brisco, real name British Mitchell, pleaded guilty to charges related to his attempt to sell counterfeit money to an undercover agent back in 2016.

The Feds caught the rapper in a string after he tried to sell $150,000 in counterfeit money.

Brisco was also involved in a credit-card/identity theft ring, which operated in Miami and specialized in selling stoves and refrigerators, which were then sold to various contractors at steep discounts.

The rapper also led Broward County cops on a high-speed chase in August of 2006 when the cops were closing in on him.

Authorities finally caught up with Brisco when they learned he would be making an appearance at a Hallandale Beach strip club.

According to reports, Brisco is facing at least four years in prison when he is sentenced for his felonious schemes this May.

Rapper Lil Reese Is Out Of The Hospital After Being Shot In The Neck

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rapper Lil Reese popped up on Instagram Live and is apparently out of the hospital after being shot earlier this week.

Lil Reese, real name Tavares Taylor, was targeted in a shooting on November 11th in a Suburb of Chicago.

The rapper was reportedly struck in the neck and taken to a local hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound.

Earlier today (November 15), Reese took to social media but he remained silent on the shooting.

Although he kept his neck area covered, the rapper looked rather healthy after such a harrowing incident.

One Of Future’s Paternity Cases On Hold Because Rapper Can’t Be Served

(AllHipHop News) One of the paternity suits filed against Future has been put on hold because the rapper has yet to be served with the legal notice.

Cindy Renae Parker filed papers against the Jumpman hitmaker, real name Nayvadius Wilburn, in Texas last month, claiming he is the father of her son Legend, who was born in July.

However, process servers have been unable to track the hip-hop star down, leaving her case at a standstill.

According to The Blast, a hearing originally scheduled for Thursday was canceled, and now Parker is requesting permission to have Future served in another way in a bid to keep her suit alive.

The judge overseeing the case has yet to rule.

Parker is seeking to establish paternity of her boy, to whom she has given Future’s last name, and is also pursuing official child support and custody deals.

The rapper is also facing similar legal action from a Florida woman named Eliza Seraphin, who insists he fathered her seven-month-old daughter Reign.

Future maintains he only has five baby mamas, including former fiancee Ciara, the mother of his five-year-old son Future Zahir.

Sean “Diddy” Combs Mourns Kim Porter In Touching Post

(AllHipHop News) Rap mogul Diddy is honoring the memory of his late ex Kim Porter a year after her tragic death.

The Bad Boy Records founder was left devastated when the model and mother to three of his children, passed away unexpectedly of pneumonia at her Los Angeles home in November 2018.

On Thursday, he took to Instagram to share a broken heart emoji with the caption “KP.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/B42aYqPHG2D

The former couple dated on and off from 1994 to 2007, but Diddy and Kim remained close until her death.

The rap mogul vowed to prioritize his family after Kim’s untimely death of the 47-year-old, who was the mother to three of Diddy’s six kids.

“Before this, I was a part-time father, you know?” he told Essence magazine. “My family was always first, but there are countless times when I chose work over everything else.”

Last month, Diddy admitted he was in semi-retirement, even though he’s on pace to clock $70 million for 2019.

Freeway On Bouncing Back From Kidney Failure — And Making His Best Music To Date

Freeway is a hip-hop legend. As one of the OG MCs to rise from Philly, the State Property member has been working alongside Jay Z since the Roc-A-Fella days. Just last year, real name Leslie Pridgen released his new album Think Free via Hov’s new imprint, Roc Nation.

It was in 2015 at Philly’s Made in America festival when Freeway began to feel sick. One week later, he was in the hospital where doctors told him his kidneys were failing. Diagnosed with End-Stage Renal disease, he had to undergo emergency dialysis, a notion he wouldn’t wish upon his worst enemy.

Via the National Kidney Foundation, one in seven people in the United States are affected by kidney disease.

Now, Freeway has made it his mission to spread awareness in hopes of saving people the pain and suffering he had to endure. On that note, he was present at the 83 Futures booth at Complexcon to do just that.

AllHipHop: What is your relationship to Jay-Z/Roc Nation these days?

Freeway: Oh that’s family. I have a joint venture with Roc Nation, who I’m putting out my next project with. I just released my last project, Think Free, through Roc Nation in 2018. You know, it’s all family. I’m not managed by them, but I put my music out through Roc Nation.

AllHipHop: How about the rest of Roc?

Freeway: Everybody’s good. I’m good with everybody. It’s all love.

AllHipHop: How tense was it back in the day with the multiple beefs you all had with The Lox and others from New York?

Freeway: It was very intense. It was serious. I’m happy things worked out how they worked out because now Jadakiss, Styles, and Sheek are some of my good friends.

AllHipHop: Describe the atmosphere of the studio when you and Hov battled.

Freeway: It was just crazy energy. We were all talented so we all motivated each other. Then when we had beefs, it just pushed us to be greater. We wanted to be on top, so it was all good energy.

AllHipHop: What’s the status of State Property?

Freeway: We good. We got a State Property concert on December 22nd in Philadelphia at the Fillmore, it’s going to be crazy. We did it last year, it was sold out. This is the second annual State Property concert.

AllHipHop: How are you and Beanie Segal?

Freeway: We good, that’s my brother man. He just had a new baby girl, just had a new daughter. I’m happy for him, we’re in a good space right now.

AllHipHop: Can you talk about the legacy of Philly hip-hop and why more people have not come through recently like back in the day?

Freeway: We got a lot of people coming through. Of course, Meek Mill’s doing his thing. You got PnB Rock. You got Lil Uzi. We got a lot of people. We got some up and coming people that’s crazy. We got this girl named Rocky from Philly that’s crazy. We got G. Huff. We got Jay Huff that’s crazy. We got my young bull Kur that’s doing his thing in the city. We got a lot of up and coming people that’s talented, that’s getting a lot of notoriety in Philly.

AllHipHop: Musically, are you still passionate about rapping?

Freeway: Yeah most definitely, even more passionate now. I’ve been through a lot, I just got a brand new kidney. I got a new chance at life so I’m motivated. I’m making some of my best music. Having a new kidney motivated me to want to push harder, I feel like I got a second chance at life.

AllHipHop: What space do you occupy these days as an OG?

Freeway: People know what it is. I put a lot of work in, and it shows.

AllHipHop: How did the partnership between you & 83 Futures come about?

Freeway: Well they reached out to me. I love what they’re doing as far as encouraging people to be organ donors. Because I received my kidney from somebody that passed away and donated their organ. If it wasn’t for them, I’d probably still be on dialysis and still be stressed out. It’s definitely important for people. People need to know that just because you’re an organ donor, it doesn’t mean it’s a death sentence. Or if something happens to you, if you get into an accident or something, that they’re going to kill you. Because that’s not what it is.

AllHipHop: Congrats on the successful surgery. How was the recovery process? I heard you have to be on meds for the rest of your life.

Freeway: Thank you. Yeah, I have to take anti-rejection pills for the rest of my life. To tell you the truth, that was one of the things I was really worried about. Why I got to take this medicine for the rest of my life? But now, it’s just second nature to me. I don’t have a problem with it. It’s actually a blessing, it’s keeping me alive.

AllHipHop: How much did you pray or rely on God?

Freeway: Throughout the whole thing, all the way until now. I’m Muslim so when I found out, I was home. The doctor called me and told me I need to get to the emergency room, the first thing I did was go to the Masjed and pray. Asked God to help me with the situation.

AllHipHop: You’re a legendary rapper in the game, why is important for you to use your platform for the greater good?

Freeway: It’s definitely important because I know I have the platform. I know I have people that pay attention to me. As far as what I went through, I was running around with three of the leading risk factors for kidney failure and I was unaware of it. It’s second nature and my job to spread awareness and let people know. Because if I would have known, I would’ve taken better steps to take care of myself.

AllHipHop: What is your take on hip-hop nowadays? Who are you bumping?

Freeway: I mean, I love it. Everybody is doing their thing. Everybody is doing their version of hip-hop. Some of it is great, some of it is not, but it’s beautiful. It’s evolving.

AllHipHop: Who are you bumping?

Freeway: I listen to all kinds of stuff. I listen to my man Kur from Philly I was just telling you about, he just dropped a project that’s crazy. I listen to Lil Baby. I listen to DaBaby. I love Young Thug. I still listen to classic stuff like The Lox, Big, Jay, Nas, etc. It switches. It’s a variety of music I listen to.

AllHipHop: If you could bring back one song in 2019 of yours, what would it be?

Freeway: Probably “What We Do Is Wrong.” It’s my legendary record, the first time I had Jay on a record. People still love it to this day when I play it, just like the first day it came out.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let us know?

Freeway: I got new music coming real soon. It’s going to be incredible, lookout for it.

Looks Like Meek Mill Will Drop A New Album In 2019 And Help A Roc Nation Friend!

(AllHipHop Rumors) One thing I like is a Meek Mill album. The Philly bull is known to represent rap on just about every level and now he has even moved into social justice! What can’t Meek do? One thing we are now seeing that he plans to do is drop another album. Last night, he did his social media #AskMeek thing and one question echoed across the web.

I don’t think it is false to say this is a proclamation, right?

He talked about a bunch of things, but I have to say that was all I cared about.

Here is something I care about as well. I am hearing that Meek and the Roc Nation team are resolute in helping rapper Casanova beat some issues he has been facing recently. Remember over the summer, Cas was on of 5 artists that were banned from the Rolling Loud festival in New York City. Cas was set to make something like 20k for performing a few minutes in his hometown. He spent about half of that one clothing, transportation and security only to have the NYPD say he and others couldn’t perform! WTF?

He didn’t do any crime, but they consider his affiliations and influence over crowds as some kind of pre-crime. WELP! I am hearing that on the low, Roc Nation is going to bat for Cas in a major way to help him fend of the NYPD, which seemed to have successfully implemented a police state in the home of Hip-Hop. Cas is now indie, but managed by Roc Nation. I am feeling how they move even if some others do not.

Damon Dash Denies Reports He Is Broke In Dispute Over $2,400 Debt

(AllHipHop News) Rap mogul Damon Dash is denying reports he’s in poverty after allegedly struggling to come up with the $2,400 he owes in an ongoing legal battle.

Jay-Z’s former business partner was previously ordered to pay the figure as part of a lawsuit.

Reports suggested Dame doesn’t have the money to do so because he has no salary and his current ventures are not making a profit.

“Perfect example of how they always trying to make a strong independent black man look broke,” Damon Dash fumed on Instagram. “This is the narrative they push no mention of my 24 network or my streaming service…or my galleries just bubblegum s###… @tmz_tv y’all corny for that but the agenda is clear…Keep it up …I’m gonna keep making examples of y’all by winning.”

A post shared by Dame Dash (@duskopoppington)

In documents obtained by TMZ, Damon acknowledged he was receiving regular checks from director Lee Daniels.

Last year, Daniels agreed to pay over $1.7 million to end a contract dispute related to a Richard Pryor biopic.

But Dame insists those funds are already being drained by creditors to help settle other debts.

He is now requesting a little leniency from court officials so he can pay the $2,400 in early 2020.

“My income streams have all been garnished… and it is very difficult to address the mounting bills until I receive some relief from the courts,” according to court documents.

It’s not clear which lawsuit the payment is part of, but it’s not the first time Dash has raised the issue of financial trouble in court.

In September, he asked to have his child support payments to his ex-wife, designer Rachel Roy, terminated after making just over $56,000 in 2018.

He also revealed his fiancee, Raquel Horn, is pregnant, which has put further strain on his cash flow due to unexpected medical expenses.

Damon took to Instagram to bash TMZ.com over the report, claiming he is far from being broke.

Lil Kim Goes Off On Naturi Naughton For Playing Her!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Lil Kim is not one to hold back! She is going on again about how Naturi Naughton and her portrayal of the pint sized rapper! Why!?

Here are the cliff notes from Lipstick Alley! Since Lakeith shouted them out, I have been tickled pink. LOL!

At 26:23 She discusses the Notorious movie

  • she hated the movie
  • Got a check for the movie after getting lawyers involved
  • would’ve never picked Naturi
  • Says they have nothing in common
  • Teyana Taylor would’ve killed it
  • Says Naturi was disrespectful on the TV One Uncensored show
  • Says she could really go in on Naturi
  • Says Naturi basically did it for the come up

I have a few thoughts on it. First of all, this ain’t new information. Lil Kim has never really felt Naturi at all, and most of us say it is because she is darker skinned. Naturi is beautiful and really not that far off from Lil Kim from the Biggie era. She may not be “hood” as Kim was but so what! She’s an actor! Anyway, Kim is dope, but this is a thing she should have taken up with casting, not the actor.

Did you know Kim dropped an album? Yep, it has been out for weeks. She really needs to come to Hip-Hop aka AlHipHop for an interview. But the gossip sites get the look and they conversation is the same.

Kim just killed at at the BET Hip-Hop Awards…sheesh!

Kanye West Is Giving Away 45,000 Free Tickets To His Big Show With Joel Osteen

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West and preacher Joel Osteen are offering 45,000 free tickets to watch the rapper perform his Sunday Service show.

The “Jesus Walks” hitmaker and his gospel choir will be at several services at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas on Sunday (November 17th), with 45,000 tickets available for an evening performance.

Church officials have teamed up with Ticketmaster to offer the free tickets, which will be available online on Friday on a first-come-first-serve basis.

An earlier service, which will feature West in a 20 to 30-minute conversation with Osteen, a televangelist who preaches faith can bring you material wealth, is not ticketed – meaning only those who arrive first will be seated.

The focus of the pair’s conversation will reportedly be how the hip-hop superstar found God.

Kanye West has been vocal about finding religion in recent months and has been performing his Sunday Service gospel events across the U.S.

He released a gospel album, Jesus Is King late last month.

So Is Dame Dash Broke Or Not? He Rebukes TMZ!

(AllHipHop Rumors) People don’t want to admit this, but we should be thanking Dame Dash in perpetuity. Dame was 1/3 of Roc-Ad-Fella Records! He gave us so much and we don’t want to admit that fact these days, some 20+ years later. I don’t forget! Dame has seen better days, but he does not take kindly to outlets saying he is “broke.”

TMZ reported just that the other day. Now here is some of what the mainstream outlet has reported:

Dash says the only revenue stream he has is from Lee Daniels, who owed him $2 million. We posted video last year of Dash confronting Daniels at a Diana Ross concert, demanding payment. Daniels subsequently agreed to repay Dash.

Now, here’s the twist. Daniels has been paying the loot back, but it appears the money has been garnished by creditors … Dash is that deep in the hole.

He says, “My income streams have all been garnished … and it is very difficult to address the mounting bills until I receive some relief from the courts.”

This isn’t the first sign of financial trouble. Dash filed legal docs in September asked the judge to terminate his child support obligations to ex-wife Rachel Roy. He said in 2018 he made just a hair over $56,000.

Now, we know all these rich guys play funny with their books. Remember 50 Cent’s bankruptcy situation? The next day, he’s playing “money phone” on Instagram. We’ve seen some of Dame’s lifestyle too and he’s far from broke. He probably has all his money in his kid’s name or something! HAHA! Anyway, he didn’t take long to clap back!

And I have seen Black people talk about “he’s not a nice person…” and some other random opinion! At the end of the day, people need to understand that “We” are now listening to the views of others and those views are shaping how we see ourselves. Dame ain’t perfect and neither is Harvey! Keep that money in those offshore accounts, Dame, and give us a new interview! Just kidding.

Queen Latifah, MC Lyte & More Celebrate “Ladies First” On ‘Songs That Shook America’

(AllHipHop News) This year saw an undeniable resurgence of female rappers. Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Trina, Lizzo, Rico Nasty, Megan Thee Stallion, Iggy Azalea, Rapsody, Kash Doll, Young M.A, Dreezy, Little Simz, and Doja Cat all released projects in 2019. Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and City Girls also made the Hot 100 chart.

Before multiple women of Hip Hop earned their way back into the general public’s consciousness over the last 12 months, pioneers were laying the groundwork decades ago. For example, Queen Latifah teamed with Monie Love for the 1989 rap anthem “Ladies First.”

Latifah will look back at the impact of the All Hail the Queen track on the next episode of Hip Hop: The Songs That Shook America. “Ruffneck” rhymer MC Lyte, former Tommy Boy Records president Monica Lynch, and more are set to join the New Jersey native as commentators for the AMC docuseries.

Hip Hop: The Songs That Shook America is executive produced by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, and Alex Gibney. Previous editions covered OutKast’s “Elevators (Me & You),” MC Shan’s “The Bridge,” and other classic rap records.

“Ladies First: 1989” featuring Queen Latifah premieres Sunday, November 17 at 12 am ET/PT. All full episodes of Hip Hop: The Songs That Shook America will be available on amc.com beginning November 18.

SiR Reflects On Inglewood Inspiring His Music In ‘Silly For The Westside’ Short Film

(AllHipHop News) Chasing Summer, the third studio album from SiR, arrived on August 30. Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, Smino, Kadhja Bonet, Sabrina Claudio, and Zacari are guests on the project.

Before 2019 closes out, SiR took Amazon Music back to his hometown of Inglewood, California. The Silly For The Westside short film focuses on the singer’s love for the city, how it’s changing, and how it inspired his music.

“Where I grew up, it doesn’t look like ‘the hood’ that people think Inglewood is. And it’s not. The beautiful homes. Trees. The smell. You can almost smell the beach. Fresh,” says the Top Dawg Entertainment signee.

He added, “And even with Compton and Watts. Those places, they’re beautiful. There’s just tons of churches and congregations that make up a whole different side of the city that nobody really sees.”

Any discussion about urban America in the 2010s usually involves a conversation about gentrification. SoFi Stadium, the future home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, is being built in Inglewood, and there are concerns about the estimated $5 billion venue driving up housing costs for the residents of the neighborhood.

“During the time when they were first starting the development of the stadium, I remember hearing the first explosion where they were tearing down the old Hollywood Park Casino. I can’t tell if it’s a good thing or a bad thing yet. But there’s no place like home,” expresses SiR in Silly For The Westside.

Rapper Trev B. Drops Debut Project “Antidepressants”

“Antidepressants11 tells a story, a story not all that uncommon, but one that usually isn’t talked about with such raw honesty.

A 20-something, struggling artist, financially unstable, college dropout dealing with the emotional rollercoaster that is depression.

Nothing is sugarcoated on Trev B. Free’s debut project and that’s how he intended for it to come across.

“My goal for this album wasn’t to sensationalize the way I felt, but to normalize it. Make others who are undoubtedly going through similar emotions feel less alone,” Trev B. said.

It’s not always the fairytale’s that make for the best stories and as Trev says, “this one is for the underdogs.”

Netflix Responds To Mo’Nique’s Race/Gender Discrimination Lawsuit

(AllHipHop News) Mo’Nique finally sued Netflix in Los Angeles County Superior Court over what she perceives to be discriminatory actions by the streaming giant. The Oscar-winning actress claims the company proposed a low-ball stand-up special deal compared to other comedians.

“When the talent was not a Black woman, Netflix offered to pay, and did pay, astronomically more than it pays to Black women like it offered to Mo’Nique,” reads the suit.

She was supposedly presented $500,000 as a “talent fee” in comparison to multi-million dollar offers for men and white women. Jerry Seinfeld ($100 million), Dave Chapelle ($60 million), Chris Rock ($40 million), Ricky Gervais ($40 million), and Amy Schumer ($13 million) were reportedly given much higher financial terms.

Mo also accused Netflix of lacking racial diversity in executive positions and not responding fast enough when House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey and Chief Communications Officer Jonathan Friedland allegedly used racist language. Netflix is denying Mo’Nique’s allegations of race and gender discrimination.

“We care deeply about inclusion, equity, and diversity and take any accusations of discrimination very seriously,” a Netflix spokesperson told NBC News. “We believe our opening offer to Mo’Nique was fair — which is why we will be fighting this lawsuit.”

In 2018, Mo’Nique called on her Instagram followers to boycott Netflix for color and gender bias. The star of The Parkers, Precious, and Bessie posted a video explaining why she was asking her fans to stop supporting the home of Orange Is the New Black, Stranger Things, Top Boy, When They See Us, Dear White People, Rapture, Hip-Hop Evolution, Rhythm + Flow, and other programs.

Fellow Black comedienne Wanda Sykes spoke out in support of Mo’Nique last year by revealing she also rejected an inadequate deal from Netflix. However, the Emmy winner eventually released her Not Normal comedy special on the platform after “they moved that comma.”
