Nicki is probably still trying to send some kind of subliminal shot at Remy Ma still, and Nas swears he wasn’t the one who pulled “ShETHER”. Mmmmmmmm hmmmmmm Nas. Sure you weren’t. LOL.

Logic Talks Battling Anxiety: I Was In The Worst Place

(AllHipHop News) Logic’s latest album, Everybody, is on pace to give the Maryland native the highest first-week sales of his career.

That achievement certainly provides a moment for the “Black Spiderman” rapper to celebrate.

However, Logic admitted he has not always been cheerful due to a feeling of worry and uncertainty.

“I was in the worst place, the most unhappy place in my life last year,” Logic told Zane Lowe. “Because of my anxiety. I was going through the craziest anxiety.”

He continued, “Bro, you don’t understand. I made millions of dollars last year, and I was so unhappy. And that just goes to show that money does not make you happy. Success doesn’t make you happy.”

Logic’s 40-minute interview with Lowe included the 27-year-old talking about being happy about the response to Everybody, Black Lives Matter, working with J. Cole, and the upcoming Ultra 85 album.

AZ Says “This Is My Last Album” And Prepares For The Movie Game

(AllHipHop News) Rapper AZ is a legend on many fronts for his work in Hip-Hop as one of Brooklyn’s premier lyricists. However, as the rapper prepares for his final album, he has grand ambitions for another frontier in film making.

AllHipHop was on the scene at the video shoot for AZ’s new offering, “Save Them,” which features Prodigy of Mobb Deep and Raekwon of Wu Tang Clan fame.

“It was a dream come true for me, you know what I mean? When I was doing the joint, “Save Them,” its epic and vintage. And I knew it was the right tones that I was looking for,” he told AllHipHop’s D-Nellz. “You know, Rae is family and Prodigy put that work in. We all from the same era. Its a good look. And it was needed at the same time.”

AZ also said this was his last audio foray as a 20 year-plus veteran of the rap game, but said that the future was already bright for him.

“I’m trying to put the album together right now. Hopefully it will be out by the fourth quarter. And after that, its movies and magic. I’m doing movies after that. This is my last album, 20 years. I feel good. I accomplished what I set out to do,” he said.

As a vet, AZ had nothing but praise for the younger artists coming out.

“Everything is evolution. I love the cats thats representing for BK right now. All the “Joey Badasss” – its so many. Casanova. There so many cats that’s representing. I love what Brooklyn’s doing. I need the fellas to keep it coming.”

Migos Release ‘Culture’ Merchandise Featuring Tees, Hoodies & More

Common Talks Kanye West Working On A New Album On Wyoming Mountaintop

TMZ caught up with Ye’s longtime musical partner Common to ask the Oscar winner about the move by the G.O.O.D. Music founder.

“For me, it’s like whatever an artist needs to do to create their best thing, then that’s what they need to do,” said Common. “Luckily, he’s got an incredible family, so they understand he’s an artist.”

Steve McQueen To Direct Authorized Tupac Shakur Documentary

(AllHipHop News) There is already a Tupac Shakur biopic scheduled to hit theaters this summer.

According to Billboard, a new documentary about the Hip Hop icon is also in the works.

The doc is being directed by Steve McQueen, and the Shukar estate has authorized the film.

“I am extremely moved and excited to be exploring the life and times of this legendary artist,” said McQueen. “I attended NYU film school in 1993 and can remember the unfolding hip-hop world and mine overlapping with Tupac’s through a mutual friend in a small way. Few, if any shined brighter than Tupac Shakur. I look forward to working closely with his family to tell the unvarnished story of this talented man.”

McQueen directed the Academy Award-winning 12 Years A Slave as well as the forthcoming Viola Davis-starring Widows.

There have been numerous documentaries made about Shakur, including Tupac: Resurrection, Thug Angel, and Biggie & Tupac.

All Eyez On Me, the biographical live action movie about Pac, will be released June 16.

Chance the Rapper Has A Message For Female Fans After His Aunts Death

(AllHipHop News) Chance the Rapper is urging female fans to educate themselves about the different types of breast cancer after losing his aunt to an aggressive form of the disease.

The “No Problem” hitmaker took to social media on Tuesday (May 9) to share his heartache, two days after Kimberly Bennett’s passing.

“My Auntie Kim lost her battle with Breast Cancer early Sunday morning,” he wrote, alongside a video clip of his relative discussing her health battle for the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Foundation.

“She was a warrior and wanted me to share this,” he continued. “Inflammatory Breast Cancer is commonly misdiagnosed and doesn’t come with the same symptoms (as other forms of breast cancer).”

In the YouTube clip, filmed in February, Kim explained that unlike other types of breast cancer, she did not find a lump, and was instead diagnosed after noticing one of her breasts had changed in skin color.

She soon learned the disease had progressed to stage four cancer, and she fought for a year before succumbing to the illness.

Vic Mensa, Lil Durk, Do Or Die & More Discuss Chicago’s Social Issues On ‘United Shades Of America’ (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) W. Kamau Bell is using his CNN docu-series United Shades of America to explore political, social, and economic issues facing modern Americans.

Sunday’s episode included Bell meeting with fellow Chicagoans to talk about some of the concerns happening in their city.

Grammy winner Malik Yusef helped gather some of the city’s gang members-turned-rappers at the Chicago’s Kingston Mines Blues Club.

Hip Hop artists Vic Mensa and Lil Durk were also present for the discussion on street violence.

“N-ggas don’t realize why we are where we are, because when you’re in the middle of it… it’s like I can read books about the statistics behind this sh-t. When somebody on my ass, I’m not thinking about any of that and I have to do what I have to do,” said Mensa.

Durk later added, “I think social media and rap sh-t really f-cked it up. It started happening when the light started getting on Chicago, so that’s what made it like super-big.”

Music’s role in countering the violence in Chicago was brought up as well.

“I think music can be a part of it, in everything we’ve been talking about, but I also think the solutions have to come down to investing in the communities because the schools have lost gym programs. They’ve lost music programs because there’s no money being put into the schools,” stated Mensa.

The collective also promoted the idea of pushing Chicago’s youth to consider careers in the STEM field, law, and other non-entertainment professions.

DMX Drops Out Of Show In Miami As Rehab Continues

(AllHipHop News) Embattled hip-hop star DMX has pulled out of an upcoming concert in Miami, Florida to focus on his rehab stay.

The “Party Up (Up In Here)” hitmaker, real name Earl Simmons, voluntarily entered a treatment centre in Southern California on April 27, two days after cancelling a gig in Santa Ana due to a “medical emergency,” and postponing two other scheduled shows that week.

Now DMX has also withdrawn from the line-up of the Boom Bap Allstars show in Miami on May 13, so he can continue seeking professional help in rehab.

“We are strong supporters of DMX and we are all pulling for him to get better and come back stronger than before,” reads a statement issued by Johann Torres, CEO of event organizers DNA Entertainment.

The gig, which celebrates old school rap artists, will still feature sets by the likes of Raekwon, M.O.P., Jadakiss, Jeru the Damaja and Pete Rock & CL Smooth.

DMX, 46, has yet to comment on the exact nature of his personal troubles, but he has previously struggled with drug addiction.

When the news of his latest rehab stay first hit headlines last month, his manager Pat Gallo simply confirmed the star would be taking time off to “focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer”.

Gallo added, “We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of concern and support that has poured in. We ask that you please keep X in your prayers as he embraces your support.”

Actress Kat Graham’s Nervous Her Performance In Tupac Biopic “All Eyez On Me”

(AllHipHop News) Kat Graham is anxious for Jada Pinkett Smith to approve of her performance in the Tupac Shakur biopic.

The “Vampire Diaries” star portrays a younger version of Jada in the upcoming film titled “All Eyez on Me,” which chronicles the life and legacy of the rapper, as well as his imprisonment and time at Death Row Records, before he was killed in 1996.

Actress Jada was a close friend of Tupac after they met in high school at the Baltimore School for the Arts, and Kat has admitted she’s feeling apprehensive about playing a woman she considers an inspiration.

“(I wasn’t worried) until today when people are like, ‘Aren’t you nervous?'” she joked to Entertainment Tonight at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards. “People are like, ‘Jada’s gonna see this movie,’ and I was like, ‘Ugh, I hadn’t thought about that.'”

Kat, who said “Gotham” star Jada continues to support her in the part, added she is very grateful for being given the opportunity to take on the role.

And the 27-year-old is also excited to be taking on a project which is relevant to the current political and social climate in the U.S.

“We’re at a time right now where African-Americans – a lot of people, not just African-Americans, a lot of people, especially in America – don’t feel like they’re getting heard,” she said. “Tupac was somebody that was in your face, he challenged the system, and that’s what made him so prolific.”

“All Eyez on Me” is directed by Benny Boom and is named after Tupac’s 1996 fourth and last studio album.

The project stars Demetrius Shipp, Jr. In the role of Tupac, as well as Lauren Cohan, Hill Harper and Danai Gurira in central roles, and is slated for release on June 16.

Wyclef Jean Gets A Huge Honor From The State of New Jersey

(AllHipHop News) Hip-hop star Wyclef Jean and actor Ray Liotta were inducted recently into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

The Haitian-born singer, who grew up in the U.S. state, was honored for his achievements at the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, and gave an impassioned speech about his father and the opportunities available for immigrants in America.

“Don’t forget, this is what being an immigrant is about,” Jean said, recalling his father’s words. “This is what these United States is about. As long as you do something with pride, as long as you believe in it, and as long as you don’t break the law, it gives you an opportunity to be somebody.”

He also performed the Fugees hit “No Women No Cry,” while fellow inductee Tommy James delivered a rendition of his rock band Tommy James and the Shondells’ 1960s hit “Mony Mony” as the rest of the Class of 2017 stepped out onstage.

Other inductees included U.S. TV presenter Kelly Ripa, author Carol Higgins Clark, newswoman Connie Chung, and retired boxer Chuck Wepner, who was praised in a video message by actor Liev Schreiber, who portrays the sportsman in new movie “Chuck.”

“They say the true measure of a man is how he handles himself in adversity,” Schreiber said, according to NJ.com. “I don’t know anybody who handled adversity better, who absorbed punishment, who took on unthinkable challenges, and through sheer tenacity and courage and absolute determination to always keep moving forward, defined himself.”

John Legend Is Trying To Get Rikers Island Closed Down

(AllHipHop News) John Legend has backed New York mayor Bill De Blasio’s attempt to close the city’s notorious Rikers Island jail.

The prison has housed many of the city’s criminals since 1932, but in recent years harsh conditions in the jail and inmate deaths have come under the spotlight.

Mayor de Blasio announced last month that he wants the jail to close within ten years.

John has backed the Mayor’s attempt to close the jail, but believes more should be done to reform America’s justice system to ensure fewer people go to jail.

“Rikers exists in large part because of that population of people that cannot afford bail,” he says. “When we talk about reducing our population in these jails and making it easier to close Rikers, the biggest hurdle is making sure that no one’s locked up because they’re too poor to pay $1,000.”

In many U.S. states those who are accused of a crime often have to remain in prison if they cannot afford a bail bond.

John believes this is unfair, and thinks bail demands should be dropped as they discriminate against the poor.

“If your only difference is that you’re poorer, that should not be the reason why you’re locked up,” he explains.

New York state governor Andrew Cuomo has also backed closing Rikers Island prison. When the prison closes city officials plan to move its inmates to smaller, more modern facilities.

Mya Wants Everyone to Ditch Meat With New Challenge

The “Fallen” singer announced her mission on Instagram on Monday and she is hoping her fans will take the challenge and stick with it, as she did in 2014. She has been what she described last year as a “hardcore vegan” ever since.

Freddie Gibbs Talks Being Accused Of Sexual Assault On Viceland’s ‘The Therapist’ (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Freddie Gibbs has not really spoken publicly about being accused of sexual assault in Austria.

Gibbs was eventually found not guilty of the alleged crime, but the ordeal had a serious emotional and psychological impact on the You Only Live 2wice album creator.

Dr. Siri Sat Sam Singh sat down with Gibbs for an episode of Viceland’s The Therapist.

Gibbs provided more details about the day he was arrested in Europe.

“I do a show in Paris, and then the day after I go into my hotel room, and people just popped up out of nowhere,” recalled the Gary, Indiana native. “It was the janitor, the bellboy, the guy on the corner in plain clothes. Everybody just turned around and turned into the police.”

He continued, “The girl had changed her story and said, ‘I had a dream that Freddie Gibbs raped me too.'”

Gibbs admitted facing rape accusations as a black man from two white women in a mostly white country was “traumatizing.”

Dr. Singh compared Gibbs’ situation with the To Kill A Mockingbird character Tom Robinson who was accused of raping a white woman in Harper Lee’s 1960 novel.

When asked how he is handling the anger from the legal nightmare, Gibbs replied by saying he was angry at the world, Europeans, his friends, himself, and even his profession at one point.

“I’m still not sure if I wanna do this anymore,” he said referring to his career in entertainment. “I don’t think I’ve been in the booth since I’ve been back… If doing this can put me in this position, I’m not sure I wanna do it anymore.”

Tyga was spotted partying Sunday night at LIV, where ex and baby mama Blac Chyna also happened to be partying just above the DJ booth in a skybox. They weren’t together, but at one point Tyga looked up to the skybox, and the pair smiled and waved to each other.

I honestly think they’ll share some type of bond because they have a child together, and Blac Chyna is all about making the dollars, so if they are reconnecting it’s probably only about some money………which would be a great thing for Tyga considering his ongoing financial woes!

50 Cent’s Mansion Overrun By The Police After Burglar Is Busted

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent’s mansion in Connecticut has been overrun by police according to breaking news reports today (May 9).

The cops have been posted up in front of 50’s Farmington mansion, where they are investigating an attempted break-in.

According to local reports, police have already collared a suspect who was caught on camera around noon, breaking into 50’s mansion.

Detectives are currently working to determine if anything was stolen or damaged on the 17-acre property.

The mansion, which was once owned by Mike Tyson, is 50,000 square feet and has a nightclub, 25 bathrooms, a studio, a gym, guest houses, and even a helipad on the property.

DJ Khaled’s ‘I’m The One’ Becomes First Rap Song To Debut At #1 In Seven Years

(AllHipHop News) DJ Khaled earned the first #1 single of his career with the star-studded “I’m The One.”

The song – which features Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne – debuted at the top of the Hot 100.

“I’m The One” became the 28th record to debut at #1 on the chart.

Khaled’s#### is the first rap song to premiere in the top spot on the Hot 100 since 2010.

Eminem’s “Not Afraid” pulled off the feat in May of that year.

The only other Hip Hop singles to land at #1 in its first week are Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You” and Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing).”

Ja Rule & Other Fyre Festival Organizers Facing Sixth Lawsuit

(AllHipHop News) The organizers of the Fyre Festival continue to face legal drama over their failed attempt at presenting a music event.

Rolling Stone reports a sixth lawsuit has been filed against the fest’s co-founders Jeffrey “Ja Rule” Atkins and Billy McFarland.

North Carolina residents Kenneth and Emily Reel filed the suit.

The Reels paid $4,600 for a VIP villa.

However, the couple never actually made it to The Bahamas because they were reportedly stranded at a Miami airport after the festival was canceled following the horrible conditions of the scheduled first day.

Kenneth and Emily Reel are suing Fyre organizers, the festival’s PR agency 42West, and advertising company Matte Projects for $5 million.

The lawsuit also mentions Fyre’s lawyers reportedly sending cease-and-desist letters to people that disparaged the festival on social media.

“Specifically, if the social media comments were not taken down, the Defendants claim they could ‘incite violence, rioting, or civil unrest,’ with the caveat that if ‘someone innocent does get hurt as a result … Fyre Festival will hold you accountable and responsible,'” states the Reels’ complaint.

Among the open cases against Ja Rule and the Fyre organizers is a $100 million class action lawsuit which is being spearheaded by celebrity attorney Mark Geragos.
