Joey Bada$$ Talks J. Cole Using His Waves” Beat For “False Prophets” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) When J. Cole dropped his most recent project, 4 Your Eyez Only, last December he prefaced the project with the song “False Prophets.”

The record borrowed from the Joey Bada$$ cut “Waves” off the 2012 mixtape 1999.

Joey spoke about the sample use during an interview with Power 106.

“We link up. I come to the studio. We’re politicking, and then he’s like, ‘I want to play you this record.’ So I’m like, ‘Okay.’ I’m still thinking this is a track for me to hop on,” said Bada$$ about a meeting with Cole last summer.

The Brooklyn spitter added, “One day he was writing, and he resorted to his old way of writing, which was going on YouTube and writing to beats, which is what most of us do. So he comes across the ‘Waves’ beat. He knew it was mine, but he heard the beat and it sparked something.”

According to Bada$$, Cole sought out his blessing to incorporate the track into “False Prophets.”

However, the Mr. Robot actor confessed he was not aware J. Cole would utilize the song as a single.

“To be honest, I didn’t know it was going to be promoting the album. I didn’t know it was going to be on the radio every day. That sh-t is weird,” admitted Bada$$. “I’m like, ‘You know what? I got my feature. It’s all good.'”

Cole will be one of the guest acts on Joey’s All-AmeriKKKan Bada$$ album.

The LP, dropping on April 7, will also include appearances by Styles P, Schoolboy Q, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, and Chronixx.

Charlotte Cops Aware Of Young Dolph’s “Bulletproof” Album and Say Arrests Are On The Way

(AllHipHop News) Police in Charlotte, North Carolina are now intimating that arrests are forthcoming in a violent downtown shooting during CIAA Weekend last month.

Over 100 rounds were shot on a downtown street in Charlotte, just as the yearly CIAA championship game was kicking off.

The shooting is not related to any official CIAA-sponsored, but police have established the incident was sparked by sources from the “entertainment industry.”

The prevailing theory is that rapper Young Dolph was the predetermined target, which has been advanced mostly by Young Dolph himself.

In fact, Young Dolph is releasing an album called Bulletproof, where the song titles form a sentence, that also confirm he was supposed to be a victim in the shooting.

The cops are aware of Young Dolph’s album, which will surely be analyzed by investigators.

“I take it more as a taunt towards potential victims out there,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Deputy Chief Jeff Estes told WCNC, refusing to reveal if Young Dolph has been questioned over the shootout.

“In general, detectives will talk to anyone that they believe is pertinent to the investigation,” Deputy Chief Estes.

According to Chief Estes, arrests are imminent in the case, thanks to new evidence retrieved from several bullet-riddled vans and a GMC Yukon that was totaled at the scene.

Airport Workers Fired Even Though They Claim Meek Mill and His Crew Threw The First Punch

(AllHipHop News) Things could get tricky for rapper Meek Mill, who’s accused of getting into an altercation with an airport worker in St. Louis yesterday.

The altercation took place on March 15th, after Meek got into a fight at St. Louis Lambert airport worker who was trying to snap a picture with the famous rap star.

When Meek resisted the airline worker’s offer, words were exchanged and it eventually led to a full-on brawl in the middle of the airport.

The guy who was involved in the fight told TMZ.com that he was simply protecting himself from Meek and his crew’s aggressive behavior.

According to Justin Card, he was proposing to take a picture when things went wrong.

“I work at the airport. I transport people in the airport. I see a lot of rappers and I saw them love. I was like, ‘What’s up Meek. Can I get a pic.’ He was like, ‘nah.’ Then I just tell my opinion about rappers like, ‘Why you all do us like this? We the fans. Why you all don’t show us love? You too good to speak?’ I guess some dude in his group got mad like ‘you a b##ch.’”

“These two dudes walked up on me and was like you still trying to fight me. I was scared. I’m at work so I’m just defending myself,” Justin Card claimed. ”I know he’s fixing to punch me so I swung first. You know? He was going to punch me. You could tell he was going to punch me.

“They threw the first punch and after that, it was just like self-defense. You probably can’t even see it but my face swelled,” Justin Card said.

His cousin De’Angelo Webb got entangled in the fracas, and cops were ultimately called in to break up the fight.

“My knuckle swelled. They scratched me… I got scratches on my knuckles…my lip was busted…I cleaned it up now but my lip was really busted and swelled. It went down a little bit,” Webb said.

Meek Mill was charged with misdemeanor assault, and so was Justin Card and his cousin De’Angelo Webb.

Both of the airport workers also lost their jobs.

“They took our badges and everything. We ain’t, I think we out of a job all the way,” De’Angelo Webb said.

Meek Mill could be facing greater consequences since he is on probation for the next six years.

The disturbance could send him back to state prison in Philadelphia for as long as two years if a judge finds he’s violated his probation.

Ice-T: Donald Trump Is Going To Be Turned On By His Own People

(AllHipHop News) With his travel ban for six Muslim-majority countries getting blocked again, the Republican health care plan struggling to get support, and members of his own party rejecting his unsubstantiated claims he was wiretapped by former president Barack Obama, Donald Trump’s presidency is not off to a great start.

Many observers have wondered if Trump will make it through his first term.

The “impeachment” word has even come up in conversations, especially when it comes to questions about the President and his team’s connection with Russia.

AllHipHop.com spoke with Hip Hop legend Tracy “Ice-T” Marrow about the likelihood of the POTUS being removed from office by Congress.

“I think Trump is going to be turned on by his own people. I don’t know if it will be impeachment but most of his pain is not going to come from the Democrats or liberals – by the way this year was the first time I’ve ever been called a liberal,” responded Ice-T. “The people who voted for him will turn on him because I don’t think he’s going to be able to bring them the jobs and we’ve already seen the healthcare replacement plan. In the gang world if you want to run things, the other gangsters will only give you like six months and if it doesn’t pay out, they’re turning on you.”

In the latest Fox News poll, 51% of the American public disapproves of the job Trump is doing as president.

However, 93% of Trump voters have a positive view of his job performance.

88 percent of those Trump supporters also believe he has done more to fulfill his campaign promises than other presidents at the same point in their administrations.

Ice-T believes Trump followers will soon face unexpected consequences caused by the policies of the man in the White House.

“I don’t think his promises will be met in an orderly fashion like the wall and jobs. I just don’t think he’s going to pull it off. More and more people will become upset and he’ll have to deal with the fallout – and he can’t even deal with a tweet!” stated the West Coast representative. “Just recently he had a million women out in the streets marching against him. I have some women that don’t like me but not a million, god-damn! My dad used to tell me sometimes you just step in some sh-t that you can’t get off your shoe.”

Ice-T and his heavy metal band Body Count are set to release their Bloodlust album on March 31.

Police Pursue Young Dolph’s Alleged Shooters After Judge OK’s Forensic Investigation

(AllHipHop News) Police in Charlotte, North Carolina are hoping a pair of salvaged cell phones will help crack a shooting that disrupted CIAA weekend late last month.

The police in Charlotte are trying to determine who squeezed off 100 rounds from high-caliber automatic weapons in the middle of the day on February 25 on a downtown street, just 30 minutes before the tipoff of the championship game.

According to cops, houses, businesses, and other cars were hit in the discharge of gunfire, which was supposedly aimed at rapper Young Dolph.

The cops seized a GMC Yukon and a van at the scene, which a judge just approved for forensic searching earlier this week.

The Yukon that police retrieved carried a laptop and two cell phones, which are now being analyzed. Cops are also running forensics on the bullet-riddled van, which was also left behind at the crash scene.

Arriving officers also found two other heavily damaged SUVs nearby, in addition to blood splattered around one of the vehicles.

While the cops have declined to affirm if Young Dolph was the intended target, representatives for the rapper confirmed he was in the crosshairs of the gunmen, but his life was spared because he allegedly outfitted his vehicles in $600,000 worth of bulletproof armor.

“Knowledge is power, however, and the unidentified gunman clearly didn’t know Dolph spent over $600,000 on bulletproof armor for his trucks,” a rep for the rapper said.

Many speculate the shooting stemmed from an ongoing feud with fellow Memphis rapper Yo Gotti.

In the weeks leading up to CIAA, Young Dolph dropped a diss record called “Play Wit Yo B####” while Yo Gotti replied in kind, with his record “Don’t Beef Wit Me.”

Also, prior to the episode, Young Dolph addressed what may or may not happen, should the two men cross each other, specifically at CIAA.

“I’m gonna tell you what’s gonna turn this whole thing. If he apologizes,” the rapper said.

Otherwise, Young Dolph warned Yo Gotti to “stay out of his way.”

Common Defends Snoop Dogg & Hip Hop After Backlash Over Donald Trump Imagery In “Lavender” Video

(AllHipHop News) Common is the latest rap star to step up to defend Snoop Dogg’s imagery in the controversial “Lavender” music video.

The clip contains a scene where Snoop fires a prop gun at a Donald Trump-inspired clown.

“Hip Hop always been about freedom of expression. That’s one of the most powerful things. Hip Hop has been like a voice for so many people,” Common told TMZ. “If you go think about the days of Public Enemy and you fast-forward to Kendrick Lamar, Hip Hop artists have always been speaking up and saying what they feel.”

The Grammy and Oscar winner continued, “If it’s a president they don’t like, if it’s a politician they don’t like… I was just listening to [KRS-One] and he was talking about [Supreme Court Justice] Clarence Thomas back then. If you didn’t like what was going on you speak up and we’re entitled to do that as people.”

Previously, Ice-T and Naughty By Nature’s Treach expressed support for Snoop’s Constitutional right to expression and free speech as well.

“Lavender (Nightfall Remix)” is a song by BADBADNOTGOOD which features Snoop Dogg and Kaytranada.

The Jesse Wellens and James DeFina directed video for the track has collected over 4.7 million views on YouTube in four days.

Ms. Das spoke with AllHipHop briefly about her journey as a music industry marketing executive and making her mark as a powerful woman in the business.

AllHipHop: Please, explain what your job entails:

Shanti Das: I worked at record companies for almost 20 years shaping the careers of Outkast, Usher, Lyfe Jennings and many more. Took a leap of faith to become my own boss. I am currently Founder of Press Reset Entertainment. The company does consulting for music artists such as Jeezy, Demetria McKinney, Johnny Gill and others. We also do celebrity procurement for events in Atlanta. In addition, we co-founded and produce an event in Atlanta called ATL Live on the Park. It is one of the biggest music showcases in the business for the past 7 years. Aside from music I am a national speaker under the Hip-Hop Professional® brand and have spoken at countless college/universities, SXSW, A3C, EssenceFest, etc! I speak of music, professional development, empowerment, networking, and more. I am also a philanthropist and I have started several key initiatives for youth empowerment, mental health, and homelessness.

AllHipHop: What’s the most enjoyable part of the job and your duties?

Shanti Das: The most enjoyable part of my job now is being an entrepreneur and having the autonomy to work on various projects/initiatives at the same time. I love that I can still do music but also focus on my other passions such as community work and leadership.

AllHipHop: What is the hardest part?

Shanti Das: The hardest part of being an entrepreneur is the ups and downs of client work. You have good months and bad months. That’s why it is important to have several revenue streams. Sometimes I have contemplated getting a job again (working for a major company) but then I remember how Faithful God has been to me throughout this journey (this Leap of FAITH) and I tell myself to never look back!

AllHipHop: Can you describe a moment of adversity personal and in your career?

Shanti Das: One moment of adversity for me personally was going through my depression. I Finally saw a doctor got the help I needed. That’s what prompted me to start “Silence the Shame,” an initiative to peel back the layers of shame and stigma around mental health (shout out to Nick Cannon, Jeezy and Andra Day for their support). In our community, we are afraid to talk about it or to get help, which is so sad. Professionally I can recall the moments of feeling some type of way about my compensation vs. my male counterparts. Since this is a piece for Women’s History Month, let me tell my ladies to ALWAYS know your value and don’t be afraid to ask for what you deserve. Often times, you will not get what you deserve if you do not ask for it!

AllHipHop: What keeps you from giving up?

Shanti Das: GOD, period. He is my rock and my best friend. I pray often and try to keep a level head about success and life. God wants us to remain humble and to also not forget about others. I really enjoy mentoring to young adults and helping others to succeed. Also, I have some good people in my corner that are always providing support and vice versa. U gotta have the right circle of friends/colleagues in your circle of trust…not everyone wants to see you get that W. As Drake says, “I got fake friends showing fake love to me straight up to my face.” Be mindful of the circle you keep and pray for the haters!

AllHipHop: How did family play a role in your journey through this industry? (parents, siblings, significant other, children, etc.)

Shanti Das: I am not married nor do I have kids. I do however have an amazing family. My sister is the rock of our family and was always there for me when times got tough in the music biz. My mom was a very loving parent and taught me to embrace my spirituality (she now has Alzheimer’s so I’m glad to be able to see her more often). My brother helped provide a balance through sports, that’s how I got to be a sporty junky. Understanding and embracing sports was a good balance for me with music and also allowed me to get into certain rooms of opportunity with my artists. Lastly, my nieces and nephews are like my kids and they are a huge part of my life. They help to keep me grounded.

AllHipHop: Who inspired you to become a leader or boss?

Shanti Das: My sister and mom were big inspirations for me. We had a lot to handle emotionally with my dad passing at a young age. So I started young wanting to be successful.  Professionally L.A. Reid was a great leader while working at LaFace and Arista, he taught me to always strive to be the absolute best!

AllHipHop: How do you balance work and personal life?

Shanti Das: I wake up thanking God for the gift of life. I then allow HIM to order my steps and to light my path for the day/week. That balance also comes with my family and close friends, so I make a conscious effort to make time for them. In addition, I make sure to incorporate time outside in the sunshine and exercise for good mental and physical health. This all leads to a productive professional life!

AllHipHop: What do you do for fun?

Shanti Das: I LOVE watching professional football (Falcons – yea still not over Super Bowl ’17), movies, traveling the world, listening to good music, reading self-help books, and eating crab legs.

AllHipHop: What are some things you’ve had to deal with that a man wouldn’t?

Shanti Das: I feel like women have to deal with far more in the workplace than men, such as inequality with pay, sexist comments/remarks/gestures, and favoritism. I see a lot of grown men that take care of their “boys.” And sometimes, not all the time, women are so busy being in competition with one another they miss the ability to lift as they climb. There are though MANY awesome ladies out there looking out for others and I salute those that do uplift one another! For the men who still treat women less than equal… I feel sorry for u.

AllHipHop: Final words?

Shanti Das: My final words are “keep God first, love yourself, your family, give more than you receive, and smile often!”

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” -Maya Angelou

Snoop Dogg Responds To Backlash Over Pointing Gun At A Trump Clown In Music Video

(AllHipHop News) Snoop Dogg does not seem to be too concerned about the critics of his new “Lavender” video.

The Hip Hop legend posted a short vid on Instagram letting the world know he is not going to speak directly about the backlash over the image of a Donald Trump clown being shot at with a prop gun.

“Y’all want to ask questions and interview me. But guess what? I got nothing to say, mate,” said Snoop in the IG clip.

He went on to post footage and photos with Brooklyn rapper Desiigner.

Yesterday, Donald Trump responded to the imagery in the BADBADNOTGOOD “Lavender” music video.

“Can you imagine what the outcry would be if [Snoop Dogg], failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!” Trump tweeted.

That led to both Bow Wow and T.I. responding to the president on social media.

“Ayo [Donald Trump] shut your punk ass up talking sh-t about my uncle [Snoop Dogg] before we pimp your wife and make her work for us,” wrote Bow Wow on Twitter before deleting the tweet.

In an Instagram post that is still on his page at the moment, Tip declared, “[Snoop Dogg] is a F-ckin Legend u F-cking Tangerine Tanned Muskrat s###### skin, Lacefront Possum fur Wig wearing, Alternative fact, Atomic Dog diarrhea face ass man!!!! (AllHipHop News) Meek Mill was reportedly charged with misdemeanor assault after an altercation at St. Louis International Airport.

According to TMZ, the Dreamchasers leader got into a fight with an airport employee that wanted to take a picture with Meek.

Two individuals that worked at the airport were also charged, the website reports.

Kim Kardashian Breaks Down Recounting Paris Robbery Ordeal

(AllHipHop News) Kim Kardashian is convinced the men responsible for her horrifying robbery ordeal had been following her throughout her trip to Paris.

The reality TV star was bound, gagged, and held at gunpoint in October as armed men stormed her private hotel suite in the French capital and made off with millions of dollars’ worth of jewellery and electronics.

In January, French authorities conducted a series of raids and arrested 17 people in connection to the crime.

They subsequently filed charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and weapon possession, against 10 suspects.

Kim gave her testimony to a French judge during a meeting in New York in February, and now fans will get to hear her side of the story in this weekend’s (March 19) episode of her family show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”

In an extended preview, which aired on U.S. breakfast show “Today” on Wednesday (March 15), Kim insists it wasn’t a coincidence the thugs picked an evening she was home alone, without security, admitting her social media posts may have helped them determine the best time to strike, as her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were enjoying a night out.

“What I think happened now, after thinking about it so much, is that there was probably a group of guys that was following us the entire trip,” she shared. “I was Snapchatting that I was home, and that everyone was going out. So, I think they knew (bodyguard) Pascal (Duvier) was out with Kourtney, and that I was there by myself.”

“They had to have known we were leaving that day,” Kim continued. “They had this window of opportunity and just went for it.”

An earlier teaser for the new series featured Kanye West’s wife breaking down as she recounted the terrifying incident to her sisters Kourtney and Khloe.

“‘They’re going to shoot me in the back. There’s no way out’,” the mother-of-two recalled of her frantic thoughts at the time. “It makes me so upset to think about it.”

Kim’s scary experience prompted her to take a break from the spotlight for the remainder of 2016, but she resumed her promotional duties with a trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates in January.

She was noticeably absent from Paris Fashion Week last month after deciding she was not yet ready to return to the city.

Azealia Banks Admits To Biting Bouncer’s Nipple and Gets Probation

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Azealia Banks has avoided jail time by striking a plea deal in her assault case.

The “212” hitmaker was accused of spitting at and biting a female bouncer outside a nightclub in 2015.

A bench warrant was issued for her arrest earlier this month after she failed to show up for court.

However, the warrant was rescinded when the 25-year-old appeared the following day.

She was subsequently released without bail and on Wednesday (March 15) she agreed to a plea deal on a third-degree assault charge.

“Did you intentionally cause physical injury to Christine Soares by biting down on her breast?” Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Ann Scherzer asked Banks.

“Yes,” she responded.

According to reports, she was given a deferred no-jail sentence and was ordered to complete an anger management program, mental health treatment, and abide by a full order of protection.

If she does not violate any conditions of the plea agreement the assault charge against her will be reduced to disorderly conduct.

She faces up to a year behind bars if she does not adhere to the plea terms.

She is due back in court in June for a hearing on her progress.

Banks’ erratic behavior has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons for months – she engaged in a social media feud with Bajan singer Rihanna over controversial U.S. President Donald Trump’s so-called Muslim ban at the end of January, and her lawsuit against Russell Crowe, in which she accused the Australian actor of spitting at her and calling her derogatory names at a Beverly Hills party in October, was thrown out by Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office just before Christmas.

Rihanna Passes Elvis Presley On The List Of Most Top 5 Hits

(AllHipHop News) Rihanna takes over the fifth position on the list of all-time Top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Bajan singer now has 22 career singles to make it into the Top 5 on the chart which passes Elvis Presley’s 21.

Wale Has A Message For The Up-And-Coming Rappers & Insta-Thots

(AllHipHop Rumors) Listen up kids! Wale has a message for all of you continuously jumping in his social media DMS…. DON’T!

“Public service announcement: if you a rapper or entertainer or anything jumping in my DMS and asking to get on is not the best way because it’s so many people in them dms asking about music and all of that. That doesn’t really display your hunger jumping in the DMS and be like can I open for tour or can you sign me. If you know of anything you know that I’m working with Phil Ade right now and I’m working on my album. That’s really all I have time for. So basically find other means man. Like I’m not trying to be rude or nothing like that, and I’m not trying to be stuck up…but just asking that’s not how that works, and one more please stop getting mad when n-ggas read your messages and don’t reply because half of y’all girls that DM me do the same thing to n-ggas. So when a n-gga do it to you, you don’t like it, and you are only doing it because I got a lil name and sh-t,” said Wale

Well it’s clear that Wale definitely wanted to get some things off of his chest. Do you agree with Wale? Should aspiring rappers take another route other than trying to hit celebrities up on social media? What do you think is the best way for a rapper to get on these days?

Common Drops A New Spoken Word Piece In Hopes Of Preventing Blindness

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rapper Common continues to use the platform he’s built as an award-winning rapper and actor, to do good for the community.

Common has endorsed a new initiative called “See America,” which is aimed at raising awareness about blindness in America.

“With many Americans not viewing eye health as a priority and believing that they look after their health by eating well and exercising regularly, they are failing to consider their eyes as part of their every day, or even annual regimes, Common said.

The campaign, which is underwritten by Allergan, intends to teach Americans about the value of eye health.

Comment linked up with “See America” to create a new spoken word video, exclusively for the campaign.

“The hope is that this video will raise awareness and inspire Americans to change their routine,” Common added.

Meek Mill Gets Into Airport Brawl With Employees Over A Photo

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Meek Mill could be heading back to prison for a long time.

The Philly native was just arrested in St. Louis (March 15) after becoming involved in a dispute in the airport.

According to TMZ.com, Meek Mill got into a scrap with an airport employee, who was trying to take a picture with the rapper.

For some reason, the situation escalated into a fist fight.

Cops were called and Meek and two airport employees were hit with misdemeanor assault charges and ordered to appear in court at a later date.

The arrest could complicate things for Meek Mill, who is on probation for weapons and a drug conviction.

The rapper has also had long-standing issues with his probation officers stemming from a case he caught in 2008.

In July 2014, Meek was sentenced to six months in prison for a number of infractions.

Those included booking concerts out-of-town, not providing his probation officer with a working phone number, posting a photo holding a gun on Instagram and publishing derogatory posts about his probation officer and prosecutor on Twitter.
