Mariah Carey Suffers Epic Lip Sync Fail During New Year’s Eve Performance

(AllHipHop News) Mariah Carey had a very embarrassing start to 2017 when her performance on America’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2017 show was hit with technical troubles.

The 46-year-old singer headlined the show in New York’s Times Square on Saturday night (December 31)), but it wasn’t one of her best shows.

She clearly lip-synced to her opening song, “Auld Lang Syne,” and she lost her way while singing her own hits Emotion and “We Belong Together” thanks to backing tape issues.

“Well, Happy New Year! We can’t hear!” Mariah said, trying to make the best of a bad situation as she attempted to sing “Emotion.”

“We didn’t have a (sound)check for this song, so we’ll just say it went to number one… Let the audience sing… Put these monitors on please!”

Mariah eventually gave up singing and just danced along to her songs, looking less than happy with her New Year’s Eve let down and stating, “It just doesn’t get any better.”

Ironically, Carey gave the first ever live performance on the Rockin’ Eve show back in 2005.

Mariah’s set mocked by opera star Josh Groban, who tweeted: “Any time one of the greatest voices of my generation lip syncs an angel loses its wings,” while actor Josh Gad suggested Mariah’s set was a comedy show, adding: ” #MariahCarey doing a Second City improv workshop on live TV is giving me life right now.”

One Twitter user added: “Everyone in Times Square was singing Mariah Carey except Mariah Carey. #lipsyncfail2016″, while another added: ”

2016 claimed another one… Mariah Carey’s sound guy”, and a third joked: “The cringe I felt during Mariah Carey’s performance was the height of my 2016.

Chance the Rapper’s New Year’s Gig In Australia Unexpectedly Canceled

(AllHipHop News) Fans of Chance the Rapper will bring the New Year in with a little disappointment, after his New Year’s Eve gig in Australia was canceled.

Back in July, Chance was announced as the headliner for Origin NYE in Perth.

According to organizers, Chance’s first big bash in Australia has been canceled due to technical difficulties and a flight delay.

“It is with great regret that we have to inform you that Chance the Rapper’s flight was delayed due to technical difficulties and as a result will not be able to perform at Origin NYE this evening,” the promoters said in a statement.

Organizers said there were logistical issues completely beyond their control, however, they welcomed Chance the Rapper to Australia in the future for his Magnificent Coloring World Tour.

“Chance extends his heart filled apologies to all of his fans who are undoubtedly disappointed by this news,” Origin NYE told fans of the rapper.

AllHipHop.com’s Hip-Hop Albums of the Year for 2016

And the nominees are:

  1. Meek Mill – Dream Chasers 4
  2. A Tribe Called Quest – We Got It From Here
  3. Kanye – The Life of Pablo
  4. TI – Us or Else
  5. The Game – 1992
  6. Chance The Rapper – Coloring Book

Album of the year goes to Coloring Book – Chance the Rapper.

Coloring Book is the third mixtape release by Chance the Rapper, produced by The Social Experiment and Lido, among others.

Coloring Book gets the award not only for its mass appeal and its impact on pop culture, but also for its intrinsic music value, its cohesiveness from track to track, and its pure Hip-Hop DNA.

My favorites tracks were:

  • All We Got (Kanye West)
  • No Problem (2 Chainz and Lil Wayne)
  • Summer Friends, feat. Jeremih, Francis and the Lights
  • Blessings
  • Same Drugs

Yeah, I know we could have given this award to Tribe, Meek, Game or Drake, but even though I believe those projects were good, Chance’s project really resonated more – and to be honest, I never considered myself a Chance fan.

This mixtape definitely converted me. So kudos to Chance the Rapper for winning AllHipHop.com’s Album of the Year for 2016.

Is VH1 Pulling The Plug On T.I. & Tiny’s ‘The Family Hustle’?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Uh oh! Word on the street is VH1 is considering canceling the extremely popular family-favorite reality TV show “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle“.

Apparently there were problems with the business relationship between T.I. and the VH1 producers for years.

Tip is said to have halted production for this year’s past season until he was financially compensated in an amount that he could agree to.

A source told TheJasmineBrand,

“T.I. is a headache to deal with. As the show continues, he’s gotten more and more demanding. Don’t get me wrong, the network loves the show, but he’s a nightmare to work with and the production is sick of dealing with him.”

Rumors that VH1 is considering pulling the plug couldn’t come at a crazier time especially given the fact that Tiny filed for divorce from T.I. earlier this month. Perhaps this also has something to do with the cancellation being considered.

The couple has been together for nearly 20 years and have been married for six.

Sources say there was allegedly trouble in paradise long before they even said “I do”, but despite the issues, they love each other very much and their children/blended family.

As jokes have been flying about Floyd Mayweather allegedly having something to do with the pending split, rumor has it that the divorce is just to divide the assets so they can get on with their lives.

We certainly hope that they can get through this rough patch just as they have gotten through other alleged rough patches over the years.

Many fans seem to still be curious if the rumors about all of those threesomes were true though. LOL.

Two People Killed, Two Wounded After Meek Mill Show In Connecticut

(AllHipHop News) A Hip-Hop show featuring rapper Meek Mill ended in violence and death, following a shootout in Connecticut.

Meek was the headlining artist for a show at The Oakdale Theater, and had just finished his performance when shooting broke out in front of the club just after 1:00 a.m.

Two people were killed in the gunfire, while another two were injured and taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Police said Meek was leaving the building and lining up his vehicles to leave, when the gunfire broke out.

There was at least one hit and run crash that injured people in vehicles, as they attempted to flee the gunfire.

Even though The Oakdale Theatre was on lockdown, and police from multiple agencies in the area responded, no suspects were caught.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward to help solve the murders.

Meek is scheduled to bring the New Year in tonight (December 31) at Dream nightclub in Miami.

Ronda Rousey Suffers Devastating Loss At The Hands Of Amanda Nunes

(AllHipHop News) It may not be Hip-Hop, but Hip-Hop is talking about the 48-second loss of one-time champion MMA fighter Ronda Rousey.

Rousey was beaten badly by Amanda Nunes, who retained her women’s bantamweight championship at UFC 207 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Moments into the fight, Nunes landed a big right that quickly hurt Rousey. Rousey tried to fight back to no avail as Nunes continued to pummel her with combinations. Nunes landed 23 of 35 blows.

Rousey was guaranteed at least $3 million. Nunes reportedly made $200,000.

The sold-out right puts a question mark on Rousey’s one stellar career.

Come Get Your Girl! Azealia Banks Is Sacrificing What?!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Baby girl is a troubled soul!

What’s wrong with Azealia Banks?! Does she have any family or friends we can call? Why can’t we have her committed to get treatment and help for her very obvious mental health issues.

Apparently your favorite female rapper Azealia Banks has been in her closet practicing witchcraft with chickens…..well their dead carcasses.

We believe this is different than an individual just seeking attention.

We really didn’t need any more proof that Banks’ train is off the track, that her elevator doesn’t go to the top floor, and well the girl is just crazy as sh-t. However, she certainly provided some.

The professional troll took to Instagram to share videos of herself cleaning out a closet that she used to sacrifice chickens for three years.

When Banks said she was about to clean up a lot of crap, I guess we thought it would be a dirty room or closet.

The disturbed part-time rapper showed a scene of blood splatter and feathers. She then gets it in with a sandblaster.

“Real witches do real things,” the Harlem rapper said.

It looks like Azealia is coming into 2017 yall.

#TheMannequinChallenge Goes Into Outer Space

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this week, Rae Sremmurd group member Swae Lee was amazed at the fact that “the world” was doing #TheMannequinChallenge.

“We made the world freeze, we froze them up man, everybody froze,” said Swae.

Well, Swae and his brother Slim Jimmy of the chart topping group will be pleased to know that the viral sensation their hit single “Black Beatles” has reached outer space.

Astronauts from the European Space Agency sent some footage back to earth today featuring the crew members frozen in zero gravity, on board The International Space Station.

The group of astronauts sent the footage back via Twitter, on their six-month mission orbiting above the earth.

AllHipHop.com Singles of the Year 2016

The nominees are:

  1. Rae Sremmurd – “Black Beatles” ft. Gucci Mane
  2. Kevin Gates-  “2 Phones”
  3. Fat joe and Remy Ma – “All The Way Up”
  4. Young Ma – “Ooouuu”
  5. Chance The Rapper Feat. Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz – “No Problem”
  6. A$AP Ferg – “New Level” ft. Future

The nod for AllHipHop.com’s Single of the Year 2016 goes to “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd, featuring Gucci Mane, on Interscope Records.

It’s the duo’s first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the first for Gucci. Here are a few of the ranking factors used to determine this award:

Social media & cultural impact: Thanks to that #MannequinChallenge you saw on your Facebook and Twitter timelines, “Black Beatles” became a huge viral sensation. Its YouTube video also garnered over 251 million views. “Black Beatles” is a good example of how social media can make a music video crazy popular overnight.

Radio and streaming: “Black Beatles” leads the streaming songs chart with 38 million U.S. streams. It’s also No.1 in R&B/Hip-Hop airplay.

Club impact: Practically every Top 40 and urban DJ in America has “Black Beatles” on their playlist. Whenever people hear it in a club, they can’t help but dance to it.

Sales impact: Nearly certified Platinum status.

Music Quality: Produced by Mike Will Made-it, the song fuses old Beatles pop-song melodies on trap rhythms. It really made the song stand out for me.

So based on these factors, “Black Beatles” is the Single of the Year.

Fed Up: LaTavia Says Don’t F-cking Ask Her About Beyonce!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Welp, former Destiny’s Child member, LaTavia Roberson is fed TF up with yall. Yall better not f-cking ask her about Beyonce or Destiny’s Child anymore!!!

The singer recently sat down with People for what she thought was an interview that would focus on her new book, ‘I Am LaTavia.’

Roberson jumped on Twitter blasting the publication for allegedly twisting her words to focus on Destiny’s Child drama. She has since deleted many of her tweets.

Below is the Tweet that set LaTavia off.

LaTavia was pretty upset over People making her sound “bitter” to the public.

“I gave you so much to talk about @People and all you decided to spin was a story about Destiny’s Child which is NOT a headline anymore,” tweeted Roberson.

She went on to say,

“I talked about losing my CHILD. New projects. Movie. My daughter, Lyric. I gave @people PLENTY. They CHOSE to report on DC. I was PLAYED.”

Now in all fairness, People shouldn’t have “played” her by ommitting the other stuff. But honestly and truly what does anyone else want to know about LaTavia outside of her Destiny’s Child days. If it weren’t for Destiny’s Child, why would anyone else care.

Hell maybe she should spill it all and use that to promote her book, and new endeavors. I mean it is her life, she did live it, and lived through that drama, and her rise and fall.

On the flip side, I can understand how people do move on, and how annoying it could get to be asked about DC and Beyonce all day everyday. But sis, you are one of the only people who knows more about Beyonce than any of us do.

Anyway, either People acted fast after being blasted, or they have a “part 2” of the interview coming all along. Roberson has since apologized for her Twitter outbursts. We still want to know about dem DC days. LOL.

LOL. Carry on.

Big Sean Explains His Inspiration Behind ‘I Decided’ Concept Album

(AllHipHop News) Big Sean is looking to start off 2017 with a new collection of work.

The Detroit-raised entertainer’s I Decided album is scheduled for release on February 3.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with Sean to get some insight behind the inspiration for the forthcoming studio LP from the G.O.O.D. Music representative.

“I [told my friend], ‘Sometimes I feel like I was an old man and didn’t succeed in life and asked for a second chance, and this is my second chance,'” said Sean. “He was like, ‘Make that the album.’ People who can be inspired by it, that’s who I’m doing it for. Everybody else can f-ck off or whatever.”

According to the publication, I Decided will be a concept album centered around the idea of rebirth.

The project’s direction was partially motivated by Sean visiting a Motown exhibit with his mom and the legendary label’s founder Berry Gordy.

Motown icons Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and the Temptations’ tendency to move people to have a good time and do better through their music stuck with Sean.

He added, “I’m happy we are delivering something unexpected. I’m excited to push the culture and push my artistry to the limit.”

The 28-year-old rhymer has already released the singles “Bounce Back” and “Moves” from I Decided.

Sean’s next LP is now available for pre-order through various outlets as well as Spotify’s exclusive “pre-save” platform.

I Decided merchandise can be purchased now too.

Earlier this year, Big Sean partnered with R&B singer Jhené Aiko for the lovers-themed Twenty88.

His last solo album was 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise.

Talib Kweli Discusses Older Artists Learning From Lil Yachty, 21 Savage & Ugly God (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) One of the big rap stories of 2016 was the growing divide between the older generation and the newer stars of the genre.

Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug, Young Dolph, Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, and other 2010’s rappers found themselves in the crosshairs of Hip Hop old heads at some point during the year.

Veteran emcee Talib Kweli sat down with DJ Vlad to talk about the changes happening in Hip Hop culture and the music industry in general.

Kweli discussed his age group actually gaining something about the shifting musical landscape by paying attention to the new era performers.

“Older artists, traditional artists, and legacy artists have to learn from newer artists, learn from the 21 Savages, Lil Yachtys, and Ugly Gods,” stated Kweli. “People get confused by thinking you gotta like or relate to the music.”

The Brooklyn native added, “They dismiss the movement along with the music. You can’t dismiss the movement because you gotta respect an artist getting their sh-t out there like that. You gotta respect it, if you’re an artist.”

Kweli also defended Hip Hop vets such as Lord Jamar, R.A. the Rugged Man, and Pete Rock sharing their opinions on younger rappers.

After the video interview was released, Kweli responded to critics of his position on Twitter.

“If these old rappers think they sh-t is so much more doper than what’s out, get it out. Stop b-tching,” wrote the “Get By” spitter.
