Game Says New Album “1992” Is A Glimpse Into His Childhood

(AllHipHop News) Compton rapper The Game’s seventh studio album 1992 lands in stores today (October 14), following a controversial promotional tour for the album.

Game is embroiled in a beef with Meek Mill, who accused Game of creating a fake dispute to promote 1992.

However, Game said his upcoming release has nothing to do with beef,  even though his first shot to Meek titled “92 Bars,” is on the album.

Game said the 1992 offers a glimpse into his childhood growing up on the gang infested streets of Compton.

“After being a part of Hip-Hop for over a decade, I’m just appreciative of the fact that my fans have been so supportive and remain to be a driving force when I release albums,” Game told AllHipHop.com in a statement.”

“1992 is a drift through my childhood, transitioning into my teenage years in a city that was on fire and plagued by gang activity,” Game said. “I can’t wait for people to listen to how I survived and the stories I lived through to tell.”

The 12 track album was released independently via Entertainment One Music/Fifth Amendment/Blood Money.

Coolio Charged With Felony Gun Possession After Being Busted With Firearm At LAX

(AllHipHop News) “Gangster’s Paradise” rapper Coolio was recently charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the charge stems from a September 17 incident at LAX in which the West Coast artist was busted with a loaded, stolen firearm by security.

One of the men in Coolio’s entourage initially attempted to claim responsibility for the weapon, but it was quickly discovered the gun was really Coolio’s, reports say.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office indicated that Coolio also has previous convictions in 2001 and 2009 of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and drug possession.

Additionally, if found guilty of the charges the rapper could be handed a sentence of up to three years in state prison.

Big Tray Deee: Still Staying G’d Up

big tray deeeUsing his own unique style of flow and voice, Big Tray Deee has been putting it down on songs going all of the way back to the Murder Was The Case soundtrack on Death Row Records as he was first introduced on Snoop Dogg’s “21 Jump Street.” The two Long Beach natives continued that successful chemistry on Snoop’s sophomore album, Tha Dogg Father, and later as The Eastsidaz group with Goldie Loc joining the mix.

After two platinum albums together, things started getting shaky for the group as disputes over money and royalties started to arise. To make matters worse, Big Tray Deee caught a case in 2003 and as the result of an attempted murder conviction, began serving a 12 year sentence in 2005.  AllHipHop stayed in touch with Tray during that time as we conducted several interviews with the OG through letter correspondences with the assistance of Tray’s wife Coniyac of the group Doggy’s Angels.

Released in 2014 – having served 9 years of a 12 year sentence – Tray Deee has been quietly working and doing shows sporadically with Goldie Loc. The result of that work is a new solo album released in September called The 3rd Coming and another on the way in October as part of a group with Kurupt, Tha Chill, Weazel Loc, and Kokane called The Diirty OGz. We caught up with the Long Beach General for the first time since his release to talk about his new album and return to the music scene. Read on, lil gangsta.

AllHipHop.com: The last time we interviewed you, you were in prison and I had to submit questions in writing because we couldn’t talk on the phone. You were finally released in 2014 after serving 9 years behind bars. What have you been up to since your release?

Big Tray Deee: When I landed two and a half years ago, I had a plan to launch my own label. I put together a talented team of former executives and artists to form the Supreme Circle Music Group. That was my number one focus when I touched down. In the interim, I put together two mixtapes that I had created while I was still in prison; Long Beach State Of Mind Volumes 1 and 2. That made my transition back into being an artist a lot easier since I was gone for so long. I served my time and walked the mainline and my reputation stayed solid the entire time but those mixtapes put my name back in the streets and reminded people that I was still to be respected as a true MC. After I got out, I re-connected with Snoop Dogg and Goldie Loc.

Was the plan to launch your own label formulated while you were in prison?

Oh yeah, I actually recorded those two mixtapes while I was on the tier with a few of my homeboys – shout out to my homeboy Lil Iceberg for helping me to orchestrate it. He was an engineer for Dogg House Records before he got arrested. He knew how to work a smart phone and what apps to use for recording. From there, I got in touch with a few producers including one named Big Beatz who is now on my label. In two and a half months time I had fifty one songs recorded.

I’m curious. How hard is recording a song in prison considering the guards being around and stuff?

You have to have a passion and be willing to risk it all just to do it. If you’re an artist in the music world, you always want to be heard and felt. It’s not so much for the attention but just to let people know that you do this very well – and that is the drive of a true artist. So I managed to record two albums worth of material despite the situation I was in. Out of those fifty one songs, I used about thirty six for the projects.

After I touched down, I got together with Snoop Dogg and Goldie Loc and we put out That’s My Work Volume 4. A lot of people said that should have been an official Eastsidaz album but we used a lot of old songs on that one. If we had invested more time into it we could have made it an Eastsidaz album but we wanted to just re-unify and get that feel back from working with each other again – it came out pretty good.

After that, I was waiting to see if we were going to record another Eastsidaz album but everybody had their diverging interests, which was alright by me because then I could go ahead with my own plans. It was time for me to put my solo project together because people have been asking that of me since my release. It’s funny because you would think that on this new album I would talk about my experiences on the tier, but nah, this isn’t an album about the trials and tribulations of Tray Deee – this is a real hip-hop album.

Do you think that the Eastsidaz will ever get back together and record another album?

We’ve discussed the possibility of it but to be honest, I think that Snoop is in another place as far as music is concerned. It’s not like he couldn’t do it but to revisit that mind-state and to re-display that to the public – I don’t think that is who he is. Plus, I don’t think that the chemistry is there to go in and get it done. A lot of things have gone on and been said since I was away. We are all friends, don’t get me wrong. We communicate, but there isn’t that same solidarity like there once was. Dogg House was a family and that’s the same structure that I’m building over at Supreme Circle – a place where everybody makes and is dedicated to making great music. My dream came true in just being able to put together this company and to complete an album of this magnitude with these features and different types of production. From the first song to the mastering of the album, I’ve invested about sixteen months into it and I’m overjoyed with the product.

What’s that “one hitter quitter” song off of the album that will floor you the first time you hear it?

That would probably be the song with Crooked I and Problem called “Tell Me About It!” DJ Battlecat produced it and the energy on that song is ridiculous. Everybody is on point on the microphone and you already know that Battlecat doesn’t play. As soon as you hear it you know the heat is coming and that’s the reaction that I’ve gotten from those who have already heard the song.

It looks like you’ve got a good mix of veterans and newer artists like Problem who are relevant on the radio.

It wasn’t so much of reaching out to newer artists due to their radio relevance. It was about who makes the kind of music that I respect. I’ve been a fan of real spitters and definitely Problem has his flavor. Smokey Lane also has a nice smooth G-style. My artist Big Beatz is dope and we’ve got a nice upcoming lineup at Supreme Circle. My wife Coniyac is up next and people haven’t really heard from her since her time with Doggy’s Angels. I kind of interrupted her career as she sacrificed it to hold me down while I was locked up. We’re doing this Supreme Circle thing together as executives but I told her that I needed her back on that microphone as well.

The 3rd Coming is the first launch from the label and it’s a major one because it happens to be my first major solo project. The General’s List from 2002 was more like a compilation album that I put together. There were songs that I wasn’t even featured on but I put it on the album because they were songs that I was feeling. The 3rd Coming is all me with my special guests.

Nas Hopes Hometown Mural Inspires Next Generation

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop artist Nas is honored to be the subject of a mural painted in his hometown.

Nas, real name Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, rose to prominence with his 1994 debut album Illmatic, and has since gone on to sell 25 million records worldwide.

He’s also an entrepreneur, and serves as an associate publisher of Mass Appeal magazine and is the owner of a Fila sneaker store.

Paying tribute to his success, Nas is the focus of a large-scale mural painted this month on a wall in Queensbridge, New York.

“I got the call, people texting me pictures about it and it scared me because usually when they put a mural up of someone up in the neighborhood, it’s because he’s dead,” Nas said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (October 12).

“It’s a huge honor and I hope that the kids out there see it as an example. Like, you could be something y’know, (it) doesn’t matter where you’re from or whatever. If you have a dream go for it.”

The mural was painted by Brooklyn-based Italian artist Jorit Agoch using spray paint. It features a photo realistic portrayal of Nas’ face as well as the word ‘Queensmatic’ in a large font.

Meanwhile, Nas is preparing for the release of a new as-yet-untitled album, which he announced on DJ Khaled’s Major Key record.

He’s also executive producing his protege Dave East’s debut project and working on other ventures including the Netflix show “The Get Down.”

Michel’le Talks Empowering Abused Women With “Surviving Compton” Biopic On The Real (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Former Death Row artist and songstress Michel’le appeared on talk show The Real to talk her upcoming biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le and her goals of empowering women through abuse.

“I want people, I want woman especially to take away from this that you should know your power by ten-years-old. You have to understand, we actually birth the men, we raise the men and then we have to go out and find one for ourselves and raise again,” the singer responded when asked how she would like viewers of the film to be influenced.

Michel’le has often documented the physical and verbal abuse she faced from west coast legend Dr. Dre, who’s currently threatening Michel’le with a lawsuit for his depiction in the film.

In her appearance on the show she urges women to find their inner strength to move past their obstacles.

“We’re very powerful human beings. And I want women to look at this and say, ‘All these things that I went through… They are not mistakes. They are not regrets. They were obstacles,”

She then added: “And I think if women start looking at things that way and knowing who they are. And they can do things, you’re already whole, he makes you just a better whole. But use your strength and if you start early, I want them to take that away from this film.”

Surviving Compton premieres Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.

Donald Trump Rep Claims Hip Hop Purports Rape Culture

The 2005 conversation between Donald Trump and Billy Bush won’t die down anytime soon. People have been able to dig up all kinds of disturbing dirt on the Republican presidential nominee but, his supporters continue to make excuses for him, and they refuse to be outraged.

Not only do Trump supporters make all of the excuses in the world, they love to pin the blame on others or divert attention to other’s controversy to take the heat off of Trump.

One Trump surrogate made a fool of herself by trying to say Hillary Clinton supporting Beyonce and her “Formation” lyrics was the same as Trumps disturbing comments towards women.

Next, the national spokesperson for the Trump campaign, Katrina Pierson, tried to excuse Trump’s offensive comments and blame it all on Hip Hop music.

“This rape culture is purported by none other than the entertainment industry, none other than Hip Hop music, which you can hear on local radio stations,” she said.

Trump has since dismissed his distasteful comments as “locker room talk,” however political commentator Angela Rye, pointed out other examples of Trump stating the same feelings towards women as well as the lawsuits and accusations of sexual harassment and discrimination against him.

Nice try Pierson. Even though music lyrics across all genres are tough to accept at times, these music artists also aren’t running for President of the United States.

Lil Wayne Doesn’t Know Any Of Today’s Rappers!

Lil Wayne has let it be known that he is in his own world and he isn’t worried about you, Black Lives Matter, or racism. Weezy is only focused on what’s going on in his brain, and as he put it, “who will pay this next bill.”

One would think that as a rapper who stays somewhat current and as a creative, Wayne may be inspired by today’s rappers.

There is clearly no inspiration, as Lil Wayne recently revealed that not only is he not inspired by today’s rappers for the moment, he doesn’t even know who they are!

The New York Times, recently sat down with Lil Wayne to talk prison, his new book, politics, his creative process, social injustice and more.

When asked,

“Are there rappers in the new school that are motivating you? Are you keeping up with Yachty, Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Kodak?”

Wayne replied saying,

“I swear to God I didn’t know you were saying people’s names just now, so that should probably answer that question. I just do my own thing.”

Ha! The slight shade by Tunechi is priceless! Y’all know a lot of today’s rappers suck and shouldn’t have waves or anyone’s attention anyway.

The Game’s Manager Encourages Adrien Broner To Commit Suicide

Mannnnnn someone please come get The Game’s manager, Wack 100. The man has no chill and certainly doesn’t believe in coming together to squash beef. The man is insensitive to say the least.

Adrien Broner took to Instagram over the last few days to show his struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts. While many reached out offering their support in his comments, others taunted him.

Mental health is something that’s not addressed enough across the board but especially not in Hip Hop or entertainment.

Being that so many people are cruel, heartless, and insensitive in the world and on social media, many encouraged the boxer to kill himself. One of those chanting him on to do so was The Game’s manager Wack 100.

Wack felt that there are people who are going through way worse thngs than Broner and aren’t considering suicide. With this said, Wack says he should kill himself if he can’t see that it’s others worse off.

Wack also expressed that he’s concerned that if Broner will kill himself, he’ll kill others also, so he wants him to kill himself before harming others.

Cold world man. What are your thoughts?
