Lil Wayne Once Considered Doing Christian Rap After Prison

Yesterday rapper Lil Wayne’s book, ‘Gone ’Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island’, was released and happened to reveal details about him once considering Christian Hip Hop.

While serving an eight-month sentence on weapons charges, Wayne was able to face many of his demons.

Lil Wayne used his time in prison to help others and to discover that his creativity came from within and not from drugs or women.

Wayne was first responsible for letting the Correctional Officers know if someone was in danger or attempting to commit suicide.

While battling some of his demons and focusing on his own mental health, Wayne learned to lean on faith behind bars.

In his book, Lil Wayne writes about receiving a letter from a church that urged him to use his platform and art to preach the good word.

“I would truly have the power of having pop culture turn to God. I would have straight k!llers in church every Sunday.”

Although Wayne considered the transition, he states that an epiphany convinced him that where he was in his life at the moment was a part of his entire journey.

Could you imagine the word play if Lil Wayne was a “Christian rapper”? Drop some Lil’ Wayne Christian bars below!

Master P Says He Supports Hillary Clinton If She Can Keep Her “Emotions Together”

(AllHipHop News) Master P recently shared some of his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election.

The mogul discussed the election on the heels of his performance with his new No Limit roster at the 2016 A3C Festival in Atlanta.

“The thing about it is that we just had an African-American president. … Who’s gonna be running the country? Is it gon’ be Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton? And can she run the country and not be ran by her feelings?” Master P expressed to Billboard.

He then later added: “She gotta keep them emotions together. That’s what I wanna see. Everybody already wants her to win. I want her to win, but can she hold those emotions together?”

The legendary music mogul has had his name buzzing again recently with his contributions to Solange’s chart-topping album A Seat At The Table, appearing on tracks such as, “The Chosen Ones,” and “The Glory Is in You.”

Master P is also currently working on his upcoming project Louisiana Hot Sauce, which is a tribute to his New Orleans hometown and is set for release early 2017.

Social Media Users React To Floyd Mayweather Stating “I’m Here To Say All Lives Matter”

(AllHipHop News) Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. is catching heat for sharing his thoughts about a social issue.

During a recent Mayweather Promotions event, Mayweather seemed to dismiss the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality.

“I’m here to say all lives matter,” said the retired prize fighter. “A lot of times, we get stuck and we’re followers. When you hear one person say ‘black lives matter’ or ‘blue lives matter’ – all lives matter.”

He continued, “What I learned from boxing and what everyone can take in real life is to follow directions, follow orders. Don’t give nobody a hard time.”.

Mayweather was also asked about the highly publicized National Anthem protest by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

“Kaepernick needs to try and get the starting job. Stand up, and get the starting job. That’s what he needs to focus on,” responded Floyd. “I can’t knock him. If that’s what he believes in and the people stand behind him, so be it. He’s got the number one selling jersey, so it’s obvious he’s doing something right.”

The 49ers have since named Kaepernick as the starting QB for the team’s upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills.

Some Twitter users did defend Mayweather’s comments, but most of the responses from people on the social media platform were critical of the 39-year-old.

Charlamagne Tha God was one of the critics to take aim at Floyd. The Breakfast Club host gave Mayweather “Donkey Of The Day” for his all lives matter speech.

Bow Wow Claims BET Is Broke In Response To Gabrielle Union’s Suit

Uh oh! You know Bow Wow always has to insert his opinion into something!

When Bow learned that Gabrielle Union is suing BET for trying to pay her less than what was agreed for ‘Being Mary Jane’, he had a lot to say (once again) about the network!

Gabrielle is about her coins, and is suing BET for trying to combine seasons 4 & 5 to lower her pay and extend her contract.

According to TheHollywoodReporter:

Union claims BET agreed to never produce more than 13 episodes per season, but now is trying to tape two 10-episode seasons back-to-back to “cram all of the episodes into a single season in order to fraudulently extend the term of Ms. Union’s contract.

Union’s attorney Martin Singer claims the network is combining seasons four and five to avoid paying his client’s contractual raise and to extend its option to engage her services for another year. Under her contract, Union is set to receive $150,000 per episode for season four and $165,000 per episode for season five.

The actress is suing the network and Breakdown Productions for breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation.

Bow took to Instagram to say,

“The network running out of money man…. won’t be no more hip hop awards either. Mark my words. Also when folks saw the exit to get out of there they ran to REVOLT. BET don’t even have the staff that kept them hot and made them who they were. Its people behind the scenes you’ll never know who came up with the shows that made BET WHAT IT WAS> It’s a new day now. They can’t compete with the worldstar viewers.”

Hmmmmmm. What are your thoughts?

Donald Glover Welcomes First Child

(AllHipHop News) Actor/rapper Donald Glover has quietly been enjoying life as a new dad after welcoming a baby earlier this year.

“The Community” star’s girlfriend reportedly gave birth to their first child in the spring, but the private pair has managed to keep the news out of the headlines, despite stepping out with a baby stroller in New York back in May, according to UsMagazine.com.

Glover, who raps under the moniker Childish Gambino, has a lot to celebrate – in addition to starting a family, he has received high praise for his new TV series “Atlanta,” a comedy/drama created by and starring the 33-year-old.

In the show, the star portrays Earn, a young man struggling to survive in Atlanta, Georgia, as he tries to reconnect with his cousin.

“Atlanta” debuted on U.S. network FX last month and was renewed for a second season days after its launch.

Meanwhile, Glover’s movie career is also going from strength to strength.

He recently emerged as the favorite to portray a young Lando Calrissian in the planned Han Solo “Star Wars” spin-off movie, while earlier this summer, he joined the cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,”  in which British actor Tom Holland will play the titular superhero.

Details about Glover’s role have been kept under wraps, but his part in the action reboot marks his first onscreen appearance in the film franchise after famously launching an Internet campaign to become the web-slinging superhero in 2010.

Using the hashtag #Donald4SpiderMan, he started a grassroots movement urging Sony bosses to let him audition to become the first black Spider-Man, and fans quickly rallied around the star’s plea.

The part ultimately went to Andrew Garfield, but Glover did score a role in the Spider-Man universe by voicing Miles Morales, the half-black, half-Latino version of Peter Parker in the animated TV series “Ultimate Spider-Man.”

EXCLUSIVE: Nick Grant Talks Upcoming ‘Return Of The Cool’ Album & Freestyling On Funk Flex’s Show

(AllHipHop News) Nick Grant has spent the last year building his buzz as the next lyrical rap star to emerge from the South.

Over the last 12 months, the South Carolina-bred, Atlanta-based rhymer released his well received 88 mixtape and announced a deal with Epic Records.

Up next for Grant is his first studio album Return Of The Cool. The project is expected to arrive before the end of 2016.

“Growing up on some of the greats like Jay Z, Nas, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Notorious B.I.G., researching their work, I’ve taken that knowledge, but of course use my own experiences, to create a body of work that I hope will be amongst the conversations of being one of the best debut albums in Hip Hop,” Grant tells AllHipHop.com. “I want a storied career, that’s my focus; that’s what I get up every day and work towards.”

Recently, NG furthered displayed his hard work and advanced wordplay during his BET Hip Hop Awards debut cypher appearance. He later spit more bars in a rap session with radio personality Funkmaster Flex.

“When I heard that ‘State Property Takeover,’ being on Funkmaster Flex’s platform became a huge goal of mine as an artist, so to have now accomplished that is a huge feat,” says Grant about his “Freestyle #018” on Hot 97.

Nick Grant will be performing at Hot 97’s “Who’s Next? Live” showcase at SOB’s in New York City on October 18.

Nicki Minaj Starting To Change In Order To Be A Good Mom

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Nicki Minaj is considering giving up the microphone to become a full-time actress after three more albums.

The “Super Bass” hitmaker, who studied performing arts in school, made her feature film debut as the voice of Steffie in 2012’s “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” and went on to appear in 2014 romantic comedy “The Other Woman,” as the outspoken assistant of Cameron Diaz’s character.

She further honed her comedy chops in this summer’s release, “Barbershop: The Next Cut,” and Nicki admits she wouldn’t be opposed to making acting her main gig once she’s achieved her music goals.

“I at least want to do three more albums,” she told the November issue of Marie Claire magazine. “If I can do that, I’ll feel complete…

“One day, when I start getting a couple gray hairs, maybe it will all be only acting. I just never know… I’ve kind of become the poster child for doing the things that no one expects.”

Another goal Nicki has previously addressed is settling down and starting a family, and the Hip-Hop star, who is dating fellow rapper Meek Mill, confesses she has already started to change her way of thinking to ensure she is mature enough to one day have a child.

She reveals experiencing a “weird epiphany” while on tour in Australia in 2012 prompted her to start appreciating every moment of her life.

“For the first time, I allowed myself to feel proud of where music had gotten me, and I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude,” Nicki recalled. “You feel the need to pay it forward, which starts with analysing yourself with a true desire to grow.”

She continued, “I was praying every day, ‘You know what, Lord? I want to be a mom one day, and I want to start becoming the woman who I want to parent my child.’ I wanted all of the feelings of entitlement to leave me… I didn’t want to become a person who wasn’t enjoying the moment.”

Nicki, who is currently working on the follow-up to 2014’s The Pinkprint album, is inching ever closer to marriage.

She has been dating Meek since early 2015, and he previously promised to gift his girlfriend with three rings, with the third being the one he proposes with.

She has since received two of the diamond studded jewels, so it appears it’s only a matter of time before the couple becomes engaged.

Jay-Z, Kanye West & Frank Ocean Victorious In “Made in America” Lawsuit

(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean recently came out on top in a lawsuit alleging that their Watch The Throne collaboration “Made in America,” was stolen.

Spin reports that New York musician Joel McDonald initially filed a lawsuit against the three musicians in 2014 accusing the trio of stealing his 2009 track of the same name.

The U.S. Second Court of Appeals found that the songs were not “similar in copyright-protected ways.”

Furthermore, the federal court “considered all of McDonald’s arguments and found them to be without merit.”

Additionally the latest ruling upholds a district court’s dismissal of the $3 million lawsuit in 2015.

The “Made in America,” trifecta were not the only targets of the suit, as Universal Music Group, Def Jam Music, Roc-A- Fella Records, and producer Mike Dean were also defendants in the allegations, amongst others.

Did Drake Smash A Pair Of Real Sisters?

It looks like Future and The Game aren’t the only rappers smashing “real sisters”.

After rumors hit that Drake was taking a break from Rihanna to carry on a fling with Instagram/reality star bae, India Love, his fans weren’t the only ones surprised.

India’s sister, Crystal Westbrooks, jumped on Twitter to throw subliminal shade at India for hooking up with her ex-fling, Drake. Crystal also unfollowed her sister on Instagram!

Another crazy detail is the fact that India’s ex-boyfriend, Cliff Dixon, was rumored to have cheated on her with Rihanna. Perhaps Drake and Love could be hooking up to p### Rihanna off for separate reasons.

Regardless of the fact that India has been following Drake on tour, rumor has it that Drake and Rihanna are still in each other’s lives in some capacity, but their schedules just got in the way and caused them to see other people.

There are some strange hookups these days. Out of all of the people on earth people choose to swap out the same individuals.

Wyclef Jean Believes Young Thug Is A Modern-Day Tupac!

Ummmmmm… it’s pretty obvious that Wyclef Jean is a Young Thug stan.

Jean thinks so highly of the rapper that he’s gone as far as to draw comparisons to the rap legend, Tupac!

In a recent interview with Pigeon & Planes, Jean discussed his recent experience with working with Thugger on “Kanye West.”

“He reminded me of a modern Tupac, in a sense – in a revolutionary sense. I mean that by, alright you might see a thug, but his connection to history is similar to what Pac understood, of like, ‘This is who the Black Panthers are. Read this book, read that book.’ This kid understands.”

Wyclef also drew comparisons between Young Thug’s revolutionary style with singer David Bowie’s music career, in regards to the controversy about people not initially understanding them or their music.

“What’s really the difference between what Bowie was doing and what this kid is doing? Because Bowie was doing it, a group of people understood what he was doing, obviously. And then there were people who didn’t understand what the f-ck he was doing ….And those people saying Thugga is a revolutionary fully get what he’s doing. Because he is a revolutionary, he’s changing the thought pattern.”

Wyclef certainly has some interesting opinions! Do you think he’s reaching or is Young Thug the next Tupac? Next David Bowie?

A Mural Of Nas Created In New York City

(AllHipHop News) Creating an elaborate personal mural is one of the ways Hip Hop culture honors its icons.

New York City living legend Nas has joined rap stars like The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Big L, UGK, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and others to have their likeness depicted on a building’s wall.

Mobb Deep member Havoc uploaded a photo of the Nasir Jones mural to his Instagram page.

“#Queensbridge they just gave a long time friend from the hood a mural! He earned every last bit of that!” wrote Havoc.

According to the location notification on Havoc’s IG post, the Nas picture is located in the Queensbridge Housing Projects, the site where the Illmatic album creator grew up.

LOL! Kodak Black Serenades His Girlfriend From Behind Bars

While rapper Kodak Black remains locked up in a St. Lucie County jail for misdemeanor weed charges, he is certainly keeping his spirits up!

Kodak decided to serenade his girlfriend as well as share some new music over the phone, seemingly sharing bars and singing a hook that seems to address his recent legal troubles.

Kodak raps,

“I’ve been through a lot in my past. I’m tryna stay level-headed. I gotta stop moving so fast. I don’t know where I’m headed. You don’t even answer no more. It seem like you wanna be separate. Everybody telling me go. But I don’t know where I’m headed.”

Black was sentenced to 120 days in prison, last month. Luckily for him, he won’t serve the entire four-month sentence. Black is expected to be released on Nov. 30, after pleading no contest to a charge of marijuana possession.

Given the fact that he has pending sexual misconduct charges from an incident in South Carolina, it is unclear if he’ll actually be released at that time.

Take a listen to Kodak getting his sing on from behind bars below! LOL.

President Obama & Macklemore Discuss Opioid Addiction In MTV’s “Prescription For Change” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) America’s growing opioid crisis will be addressed in an upcoming MTV documentary Prescription for Change: Ending America’s Opioid Crisis.

The one-hour special will feature an in-depth conversation between President Obama and Seattle rapper Macklemore (executive producer) discussing the drug’s impact on the nation, and will also highlight three young women on the road to recovery from the substances.

Macklemore can certainly relate to some of the challenges presented by the drugs.

“I was on Percocet. All of a sudden I’m doing it every day to the point where I have this dependency,” the rapper told AllHipHop.com in a statement.

He then continued: “And I remember the guy that I was getting them from didn’t have any more. And he said but I have this other thing. It’s called OxyContin. Within a week I was isolated in my room doing this drug just to stay alive in a way.”

In the documentary, Obama really puts the crisis in proper perspective with some startling statistics.

“I had a lot of close friends who ended up going through the recovery process. But the reason that we’ve been really focusing on this opioids issue is that this is an area where the incidents of people dying from overdoses are actually spiking. 2014, we saw more people die of drug overdoses than die of car accidents,” explained President Barack Obama.

The 44th president then went on to state that the drug’s growing prominence in suburban regions is really pivotal to the growing epidemic being brought to light.

Obama said: “The good news is that awareness is starting to rise and I’ll be honest with you, part of what is starting to change is the opioids crisis is getting into communities that are suburban, that are relatively well to do, rural communities, white communities and people’s kids who are being affected are folks who have a voice…”

Prescription for Change is set to air tonight (October 11) at 9pm on MTV.

The documentary will be immediately followed by True Life: My Parent’s Addicted to Opioids, which will follow two young people who’s parents are in a battle with addiction to the substances.

Music Video Director Claims Nicki Minaj Is Preparing To Break Up With Meek Mill

It looks like everyone is trying to get in on the gossip game, even the music video directors!

According to Jordan Towers, Nicki Minaj is in the process of breaking up with Meek Mill. Apparently all the beefs and drama surrounding Meek is dangerous for Nicki’s brand.

Nicki Minaj has reached Pop-star status and has come too far to be around beefs that may have been okay for her Come Up DVD days.

Allegedly Nicki is having a hard time breaking up with Meek because she doesn’t want to look like she’s jumping ship at a time like this.

Rumor has it that Nicki is fed up with Meek continuously starting and involving himself in beefs as well as him failing to finish them.

Word on the street is that Nicki’s family and friends have been urging her to get far away from Meek, because not only is her brand at risk, but so is her safety!.

We wonder is Nicki embarrassed to be associated with Meek and his recent L’s. Hmmmmm.
