Kevin Gates Goes Bald For A Good Cause

We have to say it’s nice to see a different side of Kevin Gates from time to time. Often times he loses us with some of his antics.

The rapper is both troubled and talented, and as a result sees much criticism from day-to-day on social media. So much sometimes, it seems to overshadow his music every now and then.

As you know, Gates doesn’t care the least bit about pleasing folks or about what his critics may think of him. The Louisiana rapper literally just goes with what speaks to him. With that said, it’s good to see him using his celebrity for a good cause!

Fans were wondering what made Gates recently decide to shave all of his hair off.

As it turns out, the new bald look wasn’t for a music video or movie role etc; he decided to cut his hair for support and encouragement for a patient in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, who has been teased for losing his hair as a result of undergoing chemotherapy.

Kevin posted a video to Instagram explaining,

“My little partner, he’s in the Make-A-Wish Foundation but he say they be teasing him because he got a bald head. So now I got a bald head, so when they tease you, they tease me,” he said.

We have to say we are proud of Gates for this moment.

T.I. Tells His Scales 925 Restaurant Employees It’s Not His Fault They Didn’t Get Paid!

Uh oh! It looks like things still aren’t looking too good for rapper T.I. and his restaurant Scales 925!

According to TheJasmineBrand, Tip has to head to court to face a legal battle with former employees that are suing him for over $50k in unpaid wages.

T.I. feels that he isn’t responsible for what happened with these wages, and he wants the entire lawsuit against him dropped!

T.I. went to court on September 15th, and told the judge he didn’t have control over the structure of employment, and he wasn’t responsible for the day-to-day operations at his restaurant, Scales 925. Furthermore, he wasn’t over payroll or hiring or firing employees.

Tip believes that no proof exists that he is individually responsible for the alleged owed wages.

12 employees sued T.I. and his business partner Charles Hughes earlier for “stolen wages”, and for refusing to pay their last paycheck. The employees said that they weren’t paid for overtime and sometimes their checks would bounce.

Scales 925 has also been accused of not paying rent and has been facing eviction. Rumor has it that the restaurant may have actually closed it’s doors already.

Dang! We wonder how this will turn out!

Game Crashed A Wedding In South Carolina In The Middle Of Sean Kingston/Meek Mill Feud

(AllHipHop News) Game took some time off from his three-way beef with Sean Kingston, Meek Mill and Beanie Sigle over the weekend, and crashed a wedding in Greenville, South Carolina.

A couple was getting married at the Greenville Hilton over the weekend when Game, who was in town for a performance at The Mansion Nightclub, noticed the wedding taking place.

The rapper was reportedly given permission to enter, went to the DJ booth and requested the wedding classic, “Wobble.”

“The bridal party and everyone followed him in and I gave him a shout out and I started playing his song ‘Celebration,'” the DJ told Fox 19. “It’s a wedding reception, so it was the perfect song, and he walked over, shook my hand and told me he appreciated the love. He just wanted to crash the party really quick and do the ‘Wobble.'”

Kevin Hart’s new mixtape as Chocolate Droppa is gaining some press, thanks to some of the major features on the comedian’s upcoming rap effort. T.I. and Migos are featured on Chocolate Droppa’s new single “Baller Alert,” which was produced by Lex Luger. Trey Songz is featured on the upcoming single “Push It On Me Now,” which is supposed to be released on Friday September 30. The mixtape, which features numerous A-list rappers, is supposed to hit the streets prior to the “Kevin Hart: What Now?” film, which is due in theaters nationwide on October 14.

Sean Kingston is denying claims from Compton rapper Game, who swears Sean Kingston and Meek Mill told authorities he had something to do with a June 2016 incident, in which Kingston was beaten and robbed for $300,000 worth of jewelry at Playhouse in Los Angeles. In addition to a searing video that featured Sean Kingston talking greasy about Game’s mom, his own connection to the bloods and Game’s alleged past a stripper, Sean dug up his lawyer, who produced paperwork disputing Game’s accusations. “At no time did my client bring up The Game during the investigation,” Sean Kingston’s attorney told TMZ.com. “In fact, [Sean], to date, has not even spoken to any member of the LAPD regarding this incident.” TMZ obtained a copy of the police report, and it appears to confirm that Game as never mentioned as a suspect.

Nipsey Hussle

Nipsey Hussle has weighed in on the growing beef between Sean Kingston, Game, Meek Mill and now Philadelphia rap legend, Beanie Sigel. As noted above, the rappers are feuding back and forth over allegations that Game robbed Sean Kingston of $300,000 worth of jewels, with more accusations claiming Meek also talked to investigators. Well, either way, Nispey Hussle said he wasn’t going to sit by and allow another East/West Coast feud to divide Hip-Hop. “Hip hop need to stop gassing this “beef” between @thegame and @MeekMill,” Nipsey Hussle Tweeted. “N##gas gone sit down like men and express they differences and come to and understanding.”

A Conversation With Sir The Baptist On Working With Chance The Rapper, Questioning Kanye West’s Gospel Motives & Meeting Jay Z

(AllHipHop Features) “This album is actually a Gospel album,” posted Kanye West on Twitter about his The Life Of Pablo LP.

Three months after Ye dropped TLOP, Chance The Rapper returned with his Coloring Book mixtape which included elements of Gospel music as well.

Before either Kanye or Chance’s latest efforts hit the internet, another Chicago native was effectively combining Gospel and Hip Hop with tracks such as “Raise Hell,” “(Creflo) Almighty Dollar,” and “Wake Up.”

William “Sir The Baptist” Stokes, the son of a pastor, has fully embraced his lifework of further bringing those two styles together.

In part 2 of my conversation with the self-described Urban Hymnist, Sir discusses contributing to Chance The Rapper and The Social Experiment’s “Familiar” song as well as Kanye West’s turned toward faith-based music. He also explained his decision to ink a deal with Atlantic Records and his productive relationship with Jay Z’s Tidal streaming platform.

[ALSO READ: A Conversation With Sir The Baptist On Continuing Chicago’s Musical Tradition & Being A Descendant Of 2Pac’s Ghetto Gospel]

I didn’t realize you were on The Social Experiment album [Surf].

Chance, Donnie [Trumpet], and Peter Cottentale – those guys are super-great artists. I respect their artistry and thank them for giving me a chance to sing a little bit more on the chorus and give me credit.

They also gave me the opportunity to connect with a lot of different people. We’re not the closest friends. I don’t hang with them every day. But what they did for me is an inspiration. It was dope as f-ck.

What did you think about the fact that both Chance and Kanye incorporated Gospel elements into their latest projects?

Chance, I appreciate the record. Kanye, I’m still trying to understand where he’s coming from. Mainly just because… message. It’s a difference between Gospel and moral standard. I think any Gospel should question moral standard.

Chance, I rock with the album. I get how he was inspired. Kanye… Didn’t he say, “Me and Ray J would be cool if we didn’t f-ck the same b-tch”?

Yeah, that was on “Highlights.”

That’s a different type of Gospel. Basically, there’s a difference between being inspired and prostituting the sound of Gospel.

It has a sound that gets under your soul and in your spirit, and it moves you. It don’t matter where you’re from, you’re going to get those chills. It’s in our chord progression. It’s in our vibrato. It’s in the choir. It’s in all the voices coming together.

I would love to sit down with Kanye and find out how he wanted to contribute to the Gospel industry and the religious world with this album. If he didn’t have that in mind, then I would just say to him – even a culture that’s our own – try not to prostitute it.

Why did you decide to sign with a major label rather than stay indie?

Everybody’s goals are different. Like most people would say, “I was listening to Chance and Kanye. They have the Gospel sound too.” My goals are different. I wouldn’t compare my goals to theirs.

I want to be the first NFL and NBA Hip Hop chaplain. I want to be the first Hip Hop bishop of the White House. I want to be compared to Rev. Run rather than your favorite rapper. I have cultural goals.

So building a relationship with Atlantic, they understand what those goals were. Music is just the beginning. I hope to take the dogma out of religion and blend the worlds of Hip Hop and religion in a way that surpasses our generation. I felt the label understood that, and they could come on as a team.

Ray Charles tried to do the same thing that I’m doing. Aretha Franklin, with her dad being a pastor, tried to do the same thing. We’re just trying to see if we can push it forward, and I think [Atlantic] gets the concept of what this is.

Is the theory of building a team in that way behind your decision to work so closely with Tidal?

Yeah. Tidal came out at a time when people were really confused on what Gospel/Hip Hop sounds like. Then they gave me a feature for the song “Wake Up.” From there, people started going, “Oh, okay. You know what? If Jay Z and Tidal could give it a nod, then it’s got to be decent.”

From there, it constantly became family, and [the relationship] passed me on to other places where I could do Made In America [festival]. Then doing Tidal Discovery put it on a different level. I feel like home there. A team? Absolutely.

I’m good friends with Jason over there. He took me to meet Jay and a little bit of everybody. I appreciate the whole team at Tidal. They told me, “If you need a video shot, let us know. You need this opportunity? Let us know.” They believe in me as well.

What was that conversation with Jay like?

I was a big fan of Emory [Jones] because of the stories. We were walking by, and they were like, “Get him a hat.” I almost got in trouble for that hat too, because people thought I signed to Roc Nation. “No, Jay just gave me this hat, and I’m not taking it off.” It was a crazy experience. Have you ever met Jay before?

I haven’t.

It’s like [seeing] a unicorn. My manager is not an awkward guy. But when Jay got off the elevator, nobody wanted to walk in in front of him. Everybody was just like, “Damn, that’s Jay… uh, hold the door.” [laughs] Then you get in and talk to Emory, and Jay comes by like, “Yo, Emory. Wassup? Get him a hat.”

They brought the CEO of Tidal downstairs. He sat with me for a while. He said, “What can I do for you? How can I help you? What’s next? How can we make this bigger than life?”

They’re legit family. Any artist should look at them as a great partner. They’re like on the ground. I guess they watched what Jay went through with his building stage, and they built their blueprint off of his. It really feels like that. If an artist went into Tidal and they approve your swag, it feels like you got the Roc-A-Fella team on your side.

@hovsince96 let me preach to the world today. I’m just a homeless preacher. He said he’s following my story and congrats. My idol came to the stage just to say that… A moment here. Feeling blessed. Crying… If you’re faithful over the few things. Even homelessness… Stay faithful. #madeinamerica #pk #jayz #sirthebaptist

Lil Yachty Believes Drake Is A Better Rapper Than Tupac & Biggie

Lil Yachty is back at it again with the BULL! It was already bad enough that the rapper said he can’t name 3 Tupac or Biggie songs, but now he strikes again with another outrageous comment.

Lil Yachty recently expressed in a convo with his friends that Drake is a better rapper than Tupac and Biggie. How Sway?!

Yachty and his friends were hanging out on a tour bus, when he said the 6 God was better than both rap legends.

Why does Lil’ Sail Boat believe this???? He feels Drake is automatically better because Tupac and Biggie couldn’t sing and Drake “can”.

These new generation mumble rappers are something else. We can’t take away from the 6 God’s success, but Drake aint no Pac or Big!

Sterling K. Brown & Courtney B. Vance Reference Jay Z Lyric During Emmy Award Speeches

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z was not present at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, but the Hip Hop icon’s presence was definitely felt at the event.

While accepting his trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Sterling K. Brown shouted out his wife Ryan Michelle Bathe by using a Hov bar.

“And contrary to popular belief, I got the hottest chick in the game rocking my chain,” Brown told the audience. “Ryan Michelle Bathe, you make this whole thing go. I love you. Thank you.”

The line was pulled directly from Jay’s classic cut “Public Service Announcement” from 2003’s The Black Album.

Later at the Emmys, Courtney B. Vance also won an award for his acting in The People v. O. J. Simpson. The Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie winner joined Brown in referencing “PSA.”

“To the woman that rocks my chain! Angela Evelyn Bassett, this one is for you girl!” said Vance to his spouse sitting in the front row.

However, comedian John Oliver was not quite following the Jay Z talk. After collecting the award for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, the Last Week Tonight host expressed his confusion over Brown and Vance’s “chain” comments.

Oliver did show love to the woman that inspired “the hottest chick in the game” lyrics during a backstage interview. He was hoping Jay’s wife Beyoncé would be attending the event.

“I saw a seating chart and I was supposed to be sitting two [rows] behind her. All I’ve really been thinking about for the past 48 hours is I’m going to be able to look at Beyoncé’s head for four hours, and she hasn’t turned up, so this is nice, but this evening generally has a sense of loss in it for me,” joked Oliver.

Beyoncé’s Lemonade film was nominated for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. The “visual album” did not win either award.

Travis Scott Hospitalized With Dehydration

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Travis Scott was hospitalized on Sunday (September 18) after suffering from dehydration.

The hip-hop star’s manager David Stromberg posted a picture of the musician asleep in a hospital bed, with the simple caption: “Sunday”.

When Scott’s fans expressed concern over his wellbeing, Stromberg reassured them, by writing in the comments: “He’s fine. he was just dehydrated.”

It comes after an incredibly busy few months for the musician, whose record Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight debuted at the top of the U.S. Billboard 200 chart earlier this month, making it the fifth Apple/iTunes exclusive to hit number one this year.

It follows in the successful footsteps of Frank Ocean’s Blonde, DJ Khaled’s Major Key, Drake’s Views And Future’s EVOL.

Scott’s achievement comes a year after he stormed into the U.S. charts last September with the release of his debut album Rodeo, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.

Neither Scott nor Stromberg have shared an update on the rapper’s condition, but he is due to be flying to Australia to perform at the Listen Out festival on the 24th and 25th of September, and October 1st, as well as headlining shows in Melbourne and Sydney on September 27 and 28.

Did Nicki Minaj Shade The Game Over His Feud With Meek Mill?

(AllHipHop News) It is still not clear if The Game’s motive for attacking Meek Mill is personal or business.

The Los Angeles representative claimed he is sending shots at Meek because the “Ima Boss” rapper “snitched” on him about a robbery involving singer Sean Kingston.

Both Meek and Kingston deny the allegations and suggest the whole ordeal is just a way for Game to promote his new album.

While Game took aim at Meek through several Instagram posts, he also brought the Philadelphia native’s girlfriend Nicki Minaj into the ordeal on social media and on his “92 Bars” diss record.

In one IG post featuring a picture of him with the Young Money rapstress from the “Pills N Potion” video, Game wrote in the caption, “The last time Nicki held a REAL N-GGA!!!”

It appears Nicki has subtly answered Game on her own Instagram page. She posted what would seem to be an innocuous video inside a private jet, but the caption for the vid is telling.

Nicki simply wrote, “OOOUUU.” That also happens to be closely connected to Meek’s new diss track “OOOOOOUUUU Remix” which is directed at The Game.

Lil Wayne Reportedly Upset Birdman Let Tyga Leave YMCMB

(AllHipHop News) The Lil Wayne/Birdman legal feud may have just added another issue. Wayne has been publicly slamming Birdman’s Cash Money Records over unpaid royalties and for supposedly holding back his Tha Carter V album.

According to TMZ, Wayne is also upset with Birdman allowing Tyga to be cut free from Young Money/Cash Money. Tyga recently signed with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music, but the “Rack City” rhymer was part of the YMCMB roster for years.

Wayne is a 49% owner of the Young Money Entertainment imprint. Sources claimed the New Orleans native felt he should have been involved in the decision to release Tyga since Wayne plays a significant part in the company.

Tyga is not the only artist associated with Young Money that has been at the center of Wayne’s contention with Cash Money. There have also been clashes over platinum selling acts Drake and Nicki Minaj.

Kodak Black To Serve 120 Days In Jail On Misdemeanor Drug Charges

(AllHipHop News) South Florida rapper Kodak Black was sentenced to 120 days in county jail, after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor drug charges in a Fort Pierce courtroom Monday, September 19.

According to Sun Sentinel, the rapper will also have his driver license suspended for a year and will be required to pay court costs of $298.

However, Kodak Black, born Dieuson Octave,, will not have to serve the entire four month sentence, as he was given credit for time served.

“At the end of the day, for St. Lucie County, I think he did well,” stated Kodak’s attorney, James Regan.

Kodak Black pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of possession of 20 grams or less of cannabis, and a misdemeanor charge of use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

The latest case for the rapper stems from a traffic stop last Christmas on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County.

The 19-year-old artist has also been accused of sexual battery in an incident that occurred in February at a hotel in Florence, South Carolina.

An August 16 plea deal granted to the rapper was quickly overruled after the St.Lucie and South Carolina arrest warrants were discovered.

Meek Mill Drops The Game Diss Track “OOOOOOUUUU Remix” Featuring Omelly, Takbar & Beanie Sigel

(AllHipHop News) Meek Mill has fired back at The Game.

After the California rapper released the diss record “92 Bars” and the two have been going back-and-forth on Instagram, Meek takes it to wax with “OOOOOOUUUU Remix.”

The Dreamchasers leader uses the song to make fun of Game allegedly being a male stripper and blast him for starting this feud to promote his new album. Omelly, Takbar, and Beanie Sigel assist Meek on the track.

Beans uploaded a picture on Instagram with Meek. He posted:

Kendrick Lamar Wins Lyricist Of The Year 5th Time In A Row

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar is celebrating again after winning his fifth consecutive Lyricist of the Year title at the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards on Saturday night (September 17).

The “Alright” hitmaker beat out the likes of Chance the Rapper, J. Cole, Drake and Kanye West for the honor, which he has won every year since 2012.

Other winners at the Atlanta, Georgia prizegiving included Fat Joe and Remy Ma, whose “All the Way Up” hit was named Track of the Year, DJ Khaled, who also hosted the event, was presented with Hustler of the Year, and Chance the Rapper won Best New Hip-Hop Artist.

Lamar was also on stage to present his friend and mentor Snoop Dogg with the I Am Hip-Hop honor, noting the veteran rapper “paved a way into many hearts,” and is considered a “god” to many MCs.

Meanwhile, the event featured politically-charged appearances by the likes of T.I., who performed “We Will Not,” a song he was inspired to write in the wake of the numerous deaths of African-Americans at the hands of police officers.

He was joined onstage by people sporting dark clothes, holding up “Black Lives Matter” signs.

Other stars who took the stage included Desiigner, DJ Khaled, and Gucci Mane, who was released in May following nearly two years behind bars.

For the third consecutive year, Drake led the nominations with an impressive 14 nods, but the entire list of winners will not be revealed until the show airs on America’s BET network on October 4.
